Very accommodating and CLEAN!! Me and a group of my friends wanted to take a 5 day vacation to the Ocean City area but didn't want to spend the money it costs rent a hotel room.. While we do make good money for our ages we still didn't want to spend too much money on a place to stay.The price good not be beat! When we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly camp staff. The area we were given was neat and tidy. We all set up our tents and were good to go. I wish I could say more about the vacation, but since this review is about Frontier. I'll continue on about frontier.. 1. The showers/ bath house.. They were very well kept and clean.. I'm glad they had a dry area to keep your hygiene stuff in. The water is warm.. some campgrounds only have cold water.. The showers are nicely tiled. It's almost like they thought of everything you'd need and installed it in the bath house. 2. Camp Site: although our particular site was small, We were able to make it work & we can't complain because it's what we paid for and the staff was very lenient with where we stored our stuff. We had water and electric which is very nice to have especially in the electronic world we live in today.. We were able charge our phones and wash the dishes we used to cook. 3. Store & Recreation: The store had a lot of stuff for the unprepared camper.. so you shouldn't have to venture too far to get stuff if you forgot something. We were pretty prepared as we were once boy scouts. They sell ice to keep your goods cool and wood for the fire pit at night. They have a playground for children that's in good shape, Volleyball court and stage for events. They aren't too too far from the beaches. We would've been happier if they were closer to the beach but its hard to put a campground near a beach. Overall, If we were to visit New Jersey again, there's a good chance we'd stay here again.. They're are other places we'd like to see in the country though. read more

I've read all of the reviews, on all of the various sites, and it seems Walter gives us all the creeps, and is a less than stellar business owner. I wish I had read the reviews before I gave this man my credit card number. I called in July, and inquired about reserving a full hook up space for 1 month, for my employee. I asked about their pet rules, and I asked if they had any age restrictions on units, as my employee's trailer is an retro trailer, that's been a labor of love to be restored over the years. We discussed that their pets were ok, and that there were no trailer age restrictions. I called back the next week, happened to get Walter on the phone, and paid for the month in full, and a receipt was emailed. A month and a half later, my employee showed up, after driving 1000 miles, and called me to say he'd arrived at the campground, and that Walter was denying his entry. He said that Walter did not like his trailer, and was basically insinuating that he was a drug dealer. I asked to speak to Walter. Walter said that he did not like the appearance of the trailer, and I reiterated that I had asked about trailer age restrictions, and that there were none. He said, again, that there weren't, but that he just thought it was ugly. I said, "sir, this is an old trailer, that is being restored, as I mentioned when I made the reservation. They're not moving in, they're staying for 1 month, and I've already paid you $515 in full." He said "the money was not a problem, I'll get you a full refund. They just can't stay here." He then went on to say they're "just kids." I said they're 20 years old, and they manage my company, and do an amazing job." He refused to let them stay. I found them a different local campground, and after 1000 miles and this frustration, they towed to a place where they were more welcome. A while later, a credit showed up on my account, not for the $515 I paid, but for $485. I called and asked for Walter. I explained who I was, and he remembered. I told him the discrepancy over the refund amount, and that it was missing $30 and asked if there had been some sort of mistake. The next five minutes proceeded to be a bizarre conversation of him telling me that he had "fees to pay and whatnot" and that he had been "put out." I asked what fees and he said "credit card processing fees." He said the fees are $15 per $500. I explained that I was also a business owner, and that you don't charge your customers additional credit card fees ESPECIALLY when they never stayed there, and ESPECIALLY when issuing a REFUND due to discriminating and not allowing someone to stay there! He debated me on credit card processing fees some more, and I again told him that I wanted my $30 back, as no services were rendered. He refused. I told Walter that I was holding off writing my reviews, in hopes that we could resolve this situation, as horrible as it had already been. He refused again, then proceeded to tell me "I don't care. Give me a 1 star review. See if I care. I'm packed in here. No one cares what you have to say. I'll deny everything." Then things got downright creepy when he said "If you write a bad review, I'll post pictures I took of that trailer and your employees." Um. They were there for 30 minutes and YOU TOOK PICTURES of them and their trailer!?!? Oh. My. God. How insane and creepy ARE you?!?! I told Walter "good luck." and hung up. I then called my bank, told them this story, and asked if I could please open a dispute. They said "absolutely." They said that what he had said was not accurate, that they would be refunding our $30 today, and they were opening up a fraud case against Frontier Campground, and would recoup their money that way. Moral of the story: no. And also, customers matter. Not respecting your customer is a sure fire way to lose them. Good luck, Mr. Creepy. read more

Great basic campground . Not many amenities but very clean. Sites are spacious and pretty private for a shore campground. Owners are friendly and helpfull. Not much to do other then a older playground but it keeps the kids busy. Camp store has all those last minute supplies. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay near the beach this is it! read more

I would not recommend this campground. It is not family friendly like advertised. They DO NOT enforce the noise control. The showers were freezing, so cold the water hurt. The bathrooms had no toilet paper. We paid for a site with Electric, it was a waste because it did not work. They also charged my credit card twice. I have emailed multiple times only to be ignored. When I call I am given the runaround. It has been a week and I am still waiting for a response about my refund. This is a poorly run business. Don't waste your money here. read more

My family and I did tent camping here this summer and we had a great time. The price for staying and firewood is a great price. The awesome thing about this place is that the bathhouse is really clean. Also it's not far from Ocean City. We were able to spend a whole day at OC and come back and relax at the camp fire. My husband and I stayed here this past weekend on an electric/water tent site. We loved this place and will definitely return! The owners accommodated our last minute reservation (the day of!) as well as our late arrival with ease. They were friendly and helpful and gave us a great corner wooded site. Pros: 1. Easy going and helpful attitude. The owners as well as other campers seemed very friendly and respectful which made it peaceful. 2. Great bathhouse facility. As other campers stated, it is kept very clean and the showers are fantastic. They play the radio over speakers all day and have big fans for ventilation. 3. The wooded-ness of the campground is near perfect. There might be a few sites that seem a little more open than most, but generally, every site we saw was great - private and surrounded by trees and low shrubs so you can't really see your neighbors. RV's and seasonal sites are also separate from the tent roads, so you are only camping amongst other tenters. 4. The fire ring on each site is movable so you can place it and the picnic table as you like. They also have a lidded trash can and buckets for recycling at each site which is very convenient and tidy. 5. Price and utilities. The majority of the tent sites seem to have water and electricity at them. This felt like a luxury! And for only around $30 a night in mid-August... can't beat that! 6. Proximity to beach towns. We stopped into Ocean City... It was an easy 15-20 minute drive and we found parking on a side street right away around 10th street. This allowed us to hit the beach and boardwalk conveniently for just a few hours. Next time we will try Sea Isle City which we heard has many bars, live music, etc. 7. Wildlife. Maybe it's because I'm a New Yorker, but I was happy to see only chipmunks and squirrels :) I can do without raccoons or black bears. Made for a very relaxing weekend, especially at night. Falling asleep to owls conversing and crickets chirping - perfect. Cons: Our only con is that we were surprised how loud the adjacent roads could be at night. We woke up occasionally because of a motorcycle or loud truck. This isn't enough to deter us from staying again. We will return! Notes: Camp store has a small but nice selection of items you may need. Firewood is for sale at $6 for 10 logs. There is a recreation room off of the office with ping pong and some games, etc. There is also a playground and one open space where you could throw frisbee etc. Our gps took us to the rear entrance - so at night it was hard to find the office at first. If that happens, just drive straight to the opposite end. read more

we are not camping enthusiasts by any means, however, for $20 a night for a tent site, COULD NOT PASS IT UP. We were amazed how clean the place was. The bathrooms and showers were worth the drive, immaculate. Firewood for sale and snacks and candy at the mini store, along with camping necessities. They have these little cabins 15 feet off the ground, makes it like a treehouse, cant wait to try those out with the rest of the family. Is our family and friends getaway. We visited 4 or 6 times over the season. Clean bathrooms and clean sides. I enjoyed the big BBQ on the holidays that the owner made with music and fun. The campers we bring the desserts. Also enjoyed the short travel to Ocean City, Wildwood, Cape May area and the Zoo. read more

I spent a weekend here last fall, sleeping in a tent. The owner seemed a bit surprised (maybe a bit concerned) when he learned I was alone. :-) I pitched my tent in a site close to the restroom/showers, plugged in my electricity and was all set. Other than my stupid air mattress flattening out every night, it was a great camping experience. It's about a 20 minute drive from Ocean City, an easy trek with minimal turns. The place was pretty quiet the first night (thursday) - I was there well after the peak season had ended. Friday it started getting busier, and Saturday night there was a decent crowd and several parties going on which made it a bit noisier but nobody bothered me. I felt completely safe the whole time I was there. There are few amenities at this campground; you can get a site with water and electric hookups which is nice. The shower house and restrooms were very clean. There's a small store that sells candy and soda and necessities, along with campfire wood and other last minute camping items. The owners were friendly and helpful. There appear to be many seasonal campsites and regulars who knew each other, but I really wasn't there to socialize so the fact that they didn't really interact with me was just fine. They were friendly enough but I didn't invite conversation and they didn't either. :-) There's no swimming pool or other recreational facilities, but then again the prices were significantly lower than other campgrounds, and I don't think I'd have used it even if there was one. I preferred the lower price over the bells and whistles. I'd probably stay here again, but I might also try to find something a little closer to Ocean City next time. If you're not specifically spending your time in Ocean City or one of the other resort towns and drive time (or swimming pools, etc) doesn't matter, this is a good choice. They can accommodate tents, campers, and RVs. read more

Even though Frontier Campground offers only the basics, we really liked it. The owners were friendly and helpful and the sites were spacious and well-maintained. Unfortunately, seasonals routinely had loud parties into the early morning hours. The owners were aware of this but ignored it. We visited a few weekends and were kept awake several nights. In the many years we've been camping, we've never experienced a problem with quiet hours - and this from a campground that promotes theirs as "one of the quietest". During the winter I confirmed the error with the campground to ensure i'd get the credited night. They confirmed. Got to the campground this summer....no record found by campground. My husband and I and our kids tented here this past weekend on an electric/water site. We were very pleased with this place and will definitely return. The owners were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The first thing I always check is the bathhouse and I was VERY pleased with the cleanliness and condition of the facilities. Things were clean, modern, and in good working order. Sites are wooded and private. The mountain laurel was in full bloom and the campground was just beautiful. Our children enjoyed our site's close proximity to the playground and the laundry facilities were a nice benefit as well. The camp store was well stocked and fire wood was available for purchase. We do a lot of camping and one thing that I really appreciated about here was that each site is provided a lidded trash can and recycling bin. This simple thing was a very nice touch and very helpful in keeping our site tidy. Beaches, an ACME, and eateries were an easy drive away. Great place for an affordable and relaxed visit!
