    Broken chain lock
    Prudence R.

We stayed here in 2014 and so I thought it would be fun to stay again as my daughter and I were on another road trip. We arrived 20 minutes before check in so I knew I probably wouldn't be able to check in but we went into the front office to look at the "gift store" and see if the room was ready. No one there, but then we heard a lady yell - can I help you. Took me a minute to see where she was. I said I'm here to check in. She yelled that's starts at 3. We went back to our car for 20 minutes. At 2:58 another car pulls in , someone goes in and comes out really quick and they drive to their cabin. I thought ok that's weird. So at 3:02 I go in and the lady asks my name and I tell her and she is huffing and puffing on the computer. She is acting so annoyed I finally said "what is the matter?". She puts her hands up with her palms facing me and says the rain really sets us back. (The light rain only started at 2:50).. she was so annoyed but finally said - I moved some things around... you're in 35. we drove to our cabin and went in and noticed right away the chain lock was broke. My daughter rigged it up to somewhat work. I really hate when someone in customer service makes you feel like you're a real pain in their ass. I asked for an emailed copy of my receipt and a copy of the form i had to sign at check in. I never got either one of them.

This place is on the expensive side for Wall but so totally worth the price!! I loved this cabin!! The log cabins are beautiful, spacious, so well-decorated and stick to the theme of the 1800s in the looks while providing amenities from the 20th century. Our cabin had a lovely patio facing farmland and a grille :) The inside, as you can see, is just so pretty!! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've had and I fell asleep instantly as I laid my head down. They gave dove soap in the shower, which makes me love them more. The water was super hot, which, again, I LOVE. Finally, the blankets were perfectly warm. 100% stay here if you're ok with the price. Try to get in before sunset so you can actually enjoy the cabins. They have teepees and other things around.

These cabins are IMMACULATE! To understand what my review really means, you should know that I have stayed in quite a few cabins in the past couple years. I do have a certain level of what I believe to be average and what I consider to be acceptable. The Badlands Frontier Cabins exceed all of that. Taking a step back, first you drive up to the lobby where a very helpful and nice person will check you in quickly. You get a key per person! (It might sound odd to be happy about this but there are 3 adults traveling together and most hotels give two keys without your begging.) You can also get a glow-in-the-dark travel water bowl for your pup. Your cabin will either face the highway but be buffered by a large apron of grass, or it will face a large grass field. When you get to your cabin, you just hold your key up in front of the lock. State of the art locks on metal doors with a dead bolt and security chain. (The door is so clean inside that the TV reflects perfectly.) Because they knew we were coming, the air conditioner was already on. We opened the door to cool air, a very large flat screen TV, and 2 very tall queen beds. There were also 2 straight back chairs, a desk, a refrigerator, a microwave, an end table between the two beds, a ceiling fan. At the end of the cabin is a closet with ironing board, iron, sink, mirror and towels. In on the left is the toilet with a tub and handheld shower nozzle. Even the vaulted ceiling of the cabin was perfectly clean and without a single speck of dust. All 3 windows opened well and could be closed off from the outdoor light as needed. After sundown the buildings have lights on the outside so that you can always find your way around. The only drawback ... The cabins are not handicap accessible. The beds are 30" off the ground. The bathrooms all have bathtubs.

Cabins with front porch and secure doors. We felt very safe and comfortable

A sincerely darling little cabin experience! Traveling west, we found this little treasure in Wall, SD. Well built, cozy and clean, this place is the best! The beds are strong and made of logs. Soft linens and very nice pillows. The room darkens well with wooden shades. It was hard to wake up!! Why would you ever stay anywhere else?! We even brought our little dog who made himself right at home. We'll be back!

Absolutely loved this place. I want to leave it a lower rating just so it stays a hidden gem but I won't do that. The location is great for Park access and food too. Your own little private cabin in the wilderness. Grills, tables to eat outdoors, everything you need. Bed was comfy, and cabin was clean with the exception of some little bugs one would expect in a field. I will stay here again,

We checked into the Frontier Cabins on Father's Day 2020 in the mist of the Covid pandemic. After we searched online throughout the city of wall we settled on this place. We booked the kitchenette cabin realizing that most of the hotels that promised breakfast could not do so because of the virus. They offer free bags of ice and will replenish any supplies needed for your stay. We stayed with our two children who are almost 13 and 11 years old. The unit included two queen size beds and a sleeper sofa in the cabin. With free Wi-Fi and two TVs I was surprised that my kids were more excited to sit out in the Adirondack chairs facing the field then hooked to their devices. The cabin was extremely clean and even though I brought cleaning supplies I did not feel like I had to wipe down every surface. The beds had pillow tops and were comfy. I took a nap every day after our hikes. The showers were hot even after four people used them and hot water was used to cook dinner. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. One night we had a hard time entering our cabin and we called the after hours number. Within 10 minutes someone was by to help us. He was very friendly even considering the late hour. The best part of the cabins is the 10 minute drive to the Badlands. We could've stayed a whole week but only stayed three nights. The next time we are in town we will make this our homebase again. A travelers tip, get the cake donuts with chocolate frosting from Wall Drug, pick up some super fresh produce from Wall Food Center, and catch the sunset from Sagecreek Rim Rd.

The office is cute coffee shop boutique vibe, they make fresh coffee in there every morning so you don't have to make it in your room. They also have a small popcorn machine that always has popcorn ready for guest. They do close the office early though. Check in & out was super easy. Rooms are very spacious, contain microwave, mini fridge, coffee/teas. Toilet & tub in separate room from vanity which is always much nicer for getting ready. Ample parking by your unit. It's a 2-story building so not many units. There is an outdoor seating area with heaters near the back by the Chuck Wagons that you can rent as rooms. It's literally at the end of the street from Wall Drug & the shopping/restaurants so we walked every night.

We were planning a family road trip to Yellowstone this summer and decided to make a stop in Wall on the way up so we could explore the badlands for a day. After doing some research on the town of Wall I learned a few things about places to stay: 1. all of the available lodging are motels, and 2. nearly all of them look as if they've seen better days. After reading through reviews and flipping through images online I found my way to Yelp and discovered the Hansen Inn. The photos honestly looked almost too good to be true, but the reviews backed them up, and I loved that we would be supporting a local business while in town, so with the price being about the same as the Best Western, I went ahead and booked us a room. When we arrived it was easy to check in, and I really liked that they have door codes for each individual door that is customized to your stay. It's conveniently located across the street from Wall Drug, which is the biggest attraction in town, and if you're staying here you really should explore it as it's a pretty unique spot. Once inside your room, you'll find a comfortable and clean space with an air conditioner, modern bathroom, TV, microwave, and fridge. There is an ice machine within the building, and we loved that they also provided some complimentary water bottles. The bed was decent - it was honestly the lowlight of the stay, but it was comfortable enough, and overall if I was staying in Wall I'd without a doubt book this place again. For me, I think it's a bit more of a 4.5/5 rather than a full five just because of the bed, but given that it's in a small town with limited options, I do think this is probably the best motel in town, and that gives it the extra .5 star in my book. Some of our family stayed in other places because they had pools and this one doesn't, but to be honest if you drive through Wall you'll see that the outdoor pools at nearby motels are really not much to write home about, and I had no regrets about booking the nicer place for a more comfortable stay.
