This is very good Mexican food. We tried Frontera Grill when we could not figure out another place to eat. We got really lucky. The service is outstanding and the server comes over with freshly made tortilla chips and what appears to be fresh, home made salsa. I ordered the baja fish tacos which were amazing. We love this place! It's so much better than the place that was in same location before. The food is so delicious and they give pretty big portions as well. We have eaten there outside since COVID and they took every precaution. we felt very safe and the drinks and food were great. This location is one of the best local Mexican food! Add arrival, parking is easy to find and there's a surplus of it. The atmosphere of the location is very welcoming and vibrant. You're immediately greeted by the hostess/host. We have gone multiple times during busy hours and have never had to wait! We are immediately greeted at the table with chips and salsa! We loved the salsa (more wet than chunky) and chips. I could've eaten just that and left satisfied...but the Seafood Enchiladas were calling to me. I have been to this specific location a few times in the past few months. Every time I have been here, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Food comes out promptly and the portions are fairly large. Is it authentic mexican? Nope. their chips are bagged, their cheese sauce is bagged, and the drinks are heavy on sugar. I have yet to find a place that does a good honest-to-goodness tamale or even some street corn. This place doesn't do authentic, it does american mexican. As an american mexican place, it does a pretty good job. I will say this, the cooks do know what they are doing there. We asked for hot sauce while there and instead of getting a bottle of tabasco we were presented with a fresh made green sauce with a good amount of heat. I suspect if the cooks had a run of the place, some really good authentic fare could be had. Would be a question if the people really want that, but they could try a special perhaps? Compared to the place that was here before, I think they do a better job. They excel at getting you copious amounts of food at a reasonable price for the area. This place used to be great. I was there for my last visit and ordered the steak Fajitas. The meat was tasteless. I let the server know about it and the manager came over. I explained to him that the meat was not seasoned. I always get the fajitas which had been very good in the past but today they tasted old with no seasoning. Jairo and Deborah, you really knocked the ball out of the park. Betsy and I came to your restaurant on Saturday and it was our first time there. Wonderful atmosphere , service, choices and food. The waiter helped us with the menu and steered us in the right direction. Everything was to die for and we came home with a doggy bag. You suggested we come back for the Taco Tuesday's and we are so glad we did. The choices, the fresh veggies and array of food, and the quality was the best. I have been going here for lunch over the last few months, about twice a week. The service is excellent, quick, and extremely friendly. The food is delicious. If you like TexMex this place is for you. My only criticism is that the waiters assume I want a hard shell for my tacos, you can get soft shell if you ask (I always forget). As far as ambiance, it would be average in my opinion. Four stars- in a kinder climate, I'd give 3. House margarita was fine, not fantastic, but tasty considering the price and size. The pork carnitas were good- these tend to be dry in many places but these were moist and tasty. Was my pork carnitas plate worth almost $18, no, but they were good. Chips were nice and warm. Salsa is a bit ketchup-y, but not horrible. Husband said that the southwestern quesadillas were a bit disappointing. BBQ chicken was just sliced chicken, not pulled so they were a bit tough to eat. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. It's better then anything we've had in the state or even when we visit Texas. The ingredients are fresh and the menu has a huge selection. The servers are Mexican along with the authentic music. House margaritas are $5 today (half price)! I'll start with one on those! It is served in a traditional pint glass. Tastes good and is made perfectly. Served quickly too. This place is killing my low salt diet! The chips are served in a HUGE basket and smell freshly cooked! They taste good and are very salty. The salsa is very good and has some kick. For my appetizer, I am trying the table side (small) guacamole. That's the small size?! The guacamole is really good! Note also the specially requested (olive colored) hot sauce. Yikes! That is hot ! I'm impressed! Definitely some habanero in there! Next up, I'm trying a (small) bowl of chicken tortilla soup. They use tender chunks of grilled chicken , chicken broth, green onions (scallions) and top it with slender tortilla chips. Very good! This is full of stock! The soup spoon is huge too. The tortilla chips are actually on the bottom. Low salt? Definitely not! For my entree, I'm going all out with the Fajitaaaaaas!!!!!! It's chicken for me. No tortillas (but they are included if you would like them), of course. These sizzling fajitas are made with red peppers , green peppers and onions . What's better than sautéed, caramelized onions ! It is also served with rice , beans (refried I'm guessing), pico de Gallo, sour cream, guacamole and tortillas (well, none for me). By the way, they don't cheat you on the alcohol . I can feel it already. For my next drink, I'm having a "Fresh Cucumber Margarita " . This is a garden-to-table drink, delicious and low calorie. It's a fresh mixture of lighter sour mix (which I prefer), fresh squeezed lime, Premium Jimador Silver tequila with freshly muddled cucumber . The fajitas broke the all-time record! I think they came out in 5 minutes! That might be generous too (it felt like 2 at most)! This is a huge amount of chicken too! So the small vs. large specialty margaritas are only $1 ($12 vs. $13) more. However, the small is 16oz but the large is 22oz! You can't go wrong with the 22oz for a $1 (6 oz for a $1)! However, I did stick to the small since I'm driving home. Yummy . Very refreshing! Time for dessert. For the first time ever, I am trying a Mexican cake . I didn't know this even existed. Top authentic Mexican food in the area. First off the customer service is 10/10. The wait staff and bartenders are great and very nice and on top of everything. When you go you are given complimentary chips and salsa that are amazing. The chips are hot and salted perfectly, while the salsa hit all the right notes. I came on a Tuesday so I ordered their special on taco Tuesday and got the "world best taco" and if that was an actual award I would believe they won. Frontera used to be real good, great service, the previous owner and his wife was amazing. They used to come around at every table and asked us how the food and everything is, especially if we were regulars they would always stop by and say hello, and I was a regular there and even had my coworkers from my job go there as well. Ever since the new owner and his crew started it has been a bad experience, the prices is ridiculous, it's high and so is the drinks. The restaurant has been empty and it just doesn't feel the same like it used to be. I wouldn't be surprised if they close that in a year or two. read more
