There are so many great parks where I live in Gwinnett County that can be relied upon for cleanliness, available bathrooms, picnic areas, and that are overall great for functions and gatherings, I've gotten spoiled. This was my first time up to Rome on January 2nd, and maybe things were in the condition that they were due to it being the day after a holiday (short staffed or just employees not back to work yet). However, the first thing I noticed about this park is that the bathrooms were filthy and not maintained. There were several stalls, but maybe only one or two were functional and not clean but acceptable. Most of the toilets were overflowing. Tampons and paper littered the floors. It was just not an appealing first time experience because of the bathroom situation. Additionally, there only seemed to be sanitizer inside the stalls and no working sink nearby. So this added to the feelings of filth. You could flush most (not all) of the toilets, but even then you'd have to press the buttons really hard. Getting past the bathrooms, there were several picnic areas, nice views of the Oostanaula River (which I'd never heard of, but thanks to Google now I have), at least three different play areas for the kids, a seemingly nice set of trails to wander, a stage for performances, and ample parking. Overall, the park itself was nice, but it seems like a better place for locals and not really convenient if you're from out of town. If you don't mind the filthy restrooms or are fine with stopping at a gas station on the way in or out, then I'd recommend this spot just to walk or picnic at or to bring the kids to play. If you live in the area, obviously, just go at home, if you prefer. For me personally, it was a nice place to stop and have lunch at after a long drive, but I think "when in Rome" I'll just go straight to Berry College next time which is what I really would like to check out in the area and see if there's an outdoor space to just eat there while visiting.

So many holes required removal of debris, fixing or replacing elements, rearranging the greens... some greens need actual repairs to be able to play them. Some water features worked while others were dry with pumps and hoses and trash. The place needs a good cleaning too! However, the bathrooms were clean, so a bonus point there. The young adults working there were also super friendly and helpful.

I have to admit, it wasn't nearly as messy as I expected--they provided everything we needed and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. My granddaughter had a blast, and thanks to the wonderful employees, she gives this place 10 stars. And, said "We will definitely be back"!!! For me, it was the perfect stress-relief activity and such a great bonding experience. We went at noon, so it was peaceful and relaxed, which made it even better. We had so much fun!!…read more My sisters and I wanted to do something to unwind and we definitely enjoyed ourselves here. Called in to make an appointment beforehand just to guarantee our spot. There are amazing group deals on their website as well as some more information about the business! Melissa, co-owner, was there the day we went in and she was so so welcoming. We were supplied ponchos and shoe coverings as well as lockers for our things and even hair nets and accessories. They thought of it all! Melissa explained everything to us and made sure we were comfortable before leaving us to our creativity. I absolutely loved the fact that we were always checked on as well as our paint and cleaning waters. Melissa would make encouraging comments I needed because I for one am not creative. LOL I absolutely cannot wait to drop by again and bring others because I definitely feel it's a very special little place. The vibe just gives and I'm so grateful to know a place like this exists.

Very little enrichment other than pacing their kennels all day. Our tour guide, while very nice, kept telling us she didn't know a lot so bear with her. Honestly, most of the questions that were being asked are basic biology questions that I would hope someone working with animals would know. That was disappointing. You cannot take videos at this facility and I can only assume it's because they do not want evidence of the animals behavior (or lack there of) being seen. The gift shop is one of the worst I've seen in a park like this. Everything is 5x the purchase price of any online retailer. I understand the money comes back to the animals so there is an up charge, but $70 for two stuffed animals and a magnet is crazy.
