I'm Back! M&M's Hot's is Elmira!…read moreThere are tastes from your youth you never forget. I've been coming since the early 1970s and I live in New Mexico now. And when I come home to the Southern Tier and I'm craving a touch of home M&M's never fails. From the steamed buns, the hot dogs, the meat sauce with the mix of onions and mustard this masterpiece of flavor is one of a kind. For weeks before my trip I imagined biting into an M&M's hot. My order, 3 cheese dogs loaded, they did not disappoint! Just as I remembered. My friend a local, decided to have a bacon cheeseburger and he said he would have loved another. The fries are crispy and on point and perfect with ketchup as fries can be. Three of us sat down, ordered 5 cheese dogs loaded, bacon cheeseburger, fries and sodas. Within 5 minutes we were served. The Dead and psychedelic old school rock feeding your head while getting full on old school comfort food. I'm going back again before I leave town. A must when I visit!

I hope it stays a hot dog place! They have a menu of seven varieties with meat-sauce, onions, sauerkraut, cheddar, even japaleños! Or request your oen set of toppings. The meat-sauce with onions makes a good chili dog. It's their Texas dog, without the mustard. They pile on the sauce generously! Good flavors. I also wanted the Greek Dog with Kalamata olives, pepperoncini, feta, and meat sauce! What a great combo! I love those! Get your dogs here! And if you play your cards right, maybe get yourself a hot dog restaurant :-)

I then picked it up to take the first bite, but something was wrong, i picked it up then the whole thing was completely sloppy and fell apart as a grabbed it, it even stained my brand new shorts, lady was nice but still the food was not fresh like a real hot dog place would have their foods. Either way i went to TRY and enjoy my food it was 10000° inside of the place and just dirty in general, outside the tables were rocky and every time i grab something the table would rock and even caused my brothers drink to fall down. I have been coming here since i was a little lad, it had completely fallen down hill since the main guy hasn't been here that much. Come to think of it, i came here last year, my strawberry shake, was just more like hard icecream in a cup! My hotdog was also grey.

We arrived in town just before 5 pm (their closing time) on a Friday, it was 4:55 when I tried to enter and a lady came out saying "We're closed!!!" I was like wtf, it's not 5 o'clock yet why are they refusing customers. I tried to reason with her, showing her our Oregon license plate, we've traveled a long way. Nope, sorry. I tried again the following afternoon at 4:48 and as I tried the door it was locked and the girl behind the counter said "We're closed!" I got upset and she played the victim to someone else in the back. At that point I gave up and vowed to never return. All we wanted was a couple of hot dogs with meat sauce to go, nbd. They serve classic all beef, grilled, hot dogs with any of the following items kosher New York City sauerkraut, freshly grilled onions and peppers, spicy pepper relish, onions, classic pickle relish, Nancy's mustard, and of course ketchup and yellow mustard. They even have veal dogs, Italian pork sausages, and chicken spiedies (grilled chicken cubes in a hotdog bun -- spiedies are an upstate NY invention). I have tried all of these options and they are all fantastic, but I am a purest and love the kosher all beef dog with grilled peppers and a touch of sauerkraut the best. Lou notes that he thinks that "central New Yorkers prefer the grilled flavor to the classic New York city steamed or boiled hot dogs." This is why he switched to a gas powered grill in 2001. I can't agree more, I love the grill. Lou is super friendly, and he'll chat with you as he prepares your dogs. Its $2 per hot dog. One dog is a great snack, 2 dogs or 1 chicken spiedie is a great meal. I never "plan" to eat here as the hours are dependent on the wether, I usually see them while walking around the commons and can't resist.
