The Rwandan was delicious and the roast complimented the natural expression of the beans. My dad got the Ugandan which was awesome as well. I grabbed a bag of the Salvadoran beans to take home, and it brews up an amazingly clean and interesting cup (I used a V60). One of the better cafes I've visited in the U.S. with a roaster that knows what they're doing. On top of all that, the tahini date banana bread we tried was seriously good and wasn't a premade, mass produced baked good like so many cafes have resorted to in recent years. On top of that, the cafe was beautiful with reclaimed wood tables. We were traveling with our dog and they allowed her in because she was well-behaved. Nice people, awesome cafe, world-class coffee, and seriously good pastries. Keep up the incredible work! I will be back to Williamsport for more.

There were plenty of outlets along the walls, which made it relatively easy to study. There was a lot of foot traffic, but the overall ambiance did not get too rowdy, providing pleasant white noise. There were a few seasonal specials, but otherwise the selection was not very large. The tea selection was rather small, especially considering it is part of their name. Drinks came out extremely quickly. There was a dish tub near the entrance to drop items off after finishing. I tried their seasonal egg nog cappuccino, and it came out lightly warm. The egg foam was not overwhelming and the spiced notes were well incorporated into the drink. It was not too sweet and gave me a pleasant buzz. I hope to see more diverse tea options in the future, but the overall feel and quality of this cafe were great.

They were - and still are - in the midst of a pretty significant plant sale (annuals, perennials, indoor/house plants, succulents, etc). Ultimately, I do think the timing of my visit during this sale impacted my experience. For one, the assortment of indoor/house plants & succulents was minimal and generic by the time I got there. While I was able to grab some herb plants and a Aeonium Kiwi succulent that I had been looking for, there was a pretty significant amount of the plant inventory that was looking pretty sad and wilted. Inside of the market is another tidbit that could see a bit of improvement, perhaps. While there's a nice variety, it also feels crowded. I've been to similar markets and they try to create aisle ways that allow for carts in both directions, etc - but that's not really possible at Shores Sisters. On a busier day, navigating the aisles feels like a bit of a cluster. Also, because of the location of the checkout area? Any backup in the checkout queue means folks spilling out into the already crowded aisles that people are trying to navigate through. It's not great. That said, the market does have a nice selection of jarred goods, produce, baked items, and so on. Perhaps one of my only disappointments with what was available in the market was, for example, that I went to grab a container of strawberries and it had a Dole label on it. I can get those anywhere... I was hoping for something supplied more locally. In terms of the cafe experience, I ordered the sandwich special: a blackberry grilled cheese (a grilled cheese with bacon and a spicy blackberry jam). It was noted that the blackberry jam was low spice, but I honestly tasted barely any spice at all... and I was looking for it (and I tend to pick up on spice/heat pretty easily, so I was surprised). I had also ordered a taro milk boba tea... and while the taro flavor was good, the tapioca pearls hadn't been cooked enough. Tapioca pearls have to be cooked in order to allow for their softer/gummy-type texture, and my tapioca pearls has a softer outside, for the most part, but almost all of them were undercooked and thus still harder on the inside. It was unpleasant. TL;DR. I'm trying to chalk up my feelings about this place to them being low on inventory because of the sale + having been busier than usual. That said, it's a decent drive (over an hour), and today's experience doesn't necessarily motivate me to hurry up and return. Maybe some day, but it'll be timed very differently.

You can order any fixings they offer, these were just my preferences. I forget what my guest had, but I took a picture. I liked the size of the sandwiches. Perfect light plate, for spending the day walking. I definitely recommend and will be back. They look perfect for a breakfast or lunch sandwich. We were there at 2Pm. I didn't make note of their hours. But I'm guessing they are more of a breakfast and lunch place. To start, this place has such a genuine small-town vibe, it's almost surreal. Live music, artwork from locals, the hand-lettered signs on the bakery items on display. I've made it a custom to stop in Owego about once a year, although I missed it last year. This year, I went about 20 miles (each way) out of my way to visit this gem of a coffee, sandwich, and bake shop. I found a parking space right in front, and immediately the live singer/guitarist could be heard from a speaker at the front door, but unobtrusively, delivering a very professional sounding "Brown Eyed Girl." I think that was the same song he was singing when I last visited two years ago. I was greeted by the staff like I had only been away two days, and the singer glanced my way and nodded a welcome as though he, too, remembered me. The coffee mug is perhaps the largest I've ever seen, and the DaVinci egg salad sandwich was also generously executed (recommendation: spring for the olives for an extra 25 cents). On the way out, I picked up two Dream Bars (a peanut butter and a coconut) to prolong the Carol's experience for just a bit. Yes, there's a reason, too, why they're called Dream Bars.

The menu, of course, also has "Carol's Favorite 'Comfort Food' Sandwiches" on the menu, all named after famous artists. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a huge Van Gogh fan, so I ordered the "Van Gogh" sandwich that comes with oven roasted turkey breast layered on sourdough bread and lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The sandwich was good, but I have to say that proportions of the ingredients felt a bit off. I also noticed during the prep of my plate that the chips came from opening a bag (a bulk version similar to ripple chips you'd just buy at the store). In a cafe space like this, you can't necessarily expect people to be making everything from scratch... but I think it's just helpful to note to keep expectations in line. The drink that I ordered was made well (their beverage selection is at the very back of the menu). You can definitely tell that this is a community space, and it seemed like a number of locals filtered in throughout the lunch. There are notes on the tables that advise of a 90 minute limit for sitting at the table (not something I've ever actually seen before), and there's wifi available for use by customers. Perhaps an awkward experience was just related to the overall service? You grab a menu and choose your table if you're dining in, but you end up paying at the counter. Personally, if I'm going to sit down to eat then I'd prefer to have the check brought to the table and pay that way. The space is a bit cramped by the counter, so it seems like it'd benefit to minimize the foot traffic that has to wait there. And perhaps this is silly, but upon paying for the lunch, the server handed me my receipt and said "Just sign here", and then seemed to be somewhat... abrupt? I feel like I'm pretty low maintenance when dining out, but it just left me going "OH. Okay. Time for me to get out of the way" (it's worth noting that at the time, there was nobody waiting around, or to get to, the counter). Still, it was enjoyable to stop at Carol's Coffee & Art Bar. It's a more unique space with nice offerings.

They did still have mini cheesecakes, danishes, muffins, cupcakes. We tried the cold brew sweet cold foam, one with caramel foam and one with lavender foam (made with natural organic syrups); both were delicious, and def sweet enough from just the foam. They also let us try the lemon blueberry scones and they were so good. I love that they have tons of seating, both indoors and outdoors, and a community gathering room. There's a couple armchairs too; I think the addition of a couch or two, plus music playing, would help make the space even cozier.
