Stopped in for lunch on a recent Friday. Staff was polite, friendly, and attentive. Brisket quesadillas and tacos were absolutely delish. We sat in the front window and watched the world go by... beautiful!!

Tonight's dinner was good but not great. The salmon came out pretty dry and overcooked. The rice and snap peas were good. The salad came out fresh as it gets. The desert was pretty tasty- we got the strawberry cake and chocolate. We've had some great experiences here with the food in the past, maybe next time will be better. I will say the service is always outstanding. The people who are serving are attentive and make sure you have what you need. Lots of small town charm happening within this restaurant. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.

We are the Whiskey Pineapple Chicken sandwich and the Pineapple Shrimp tacos. The tacos were outstanding and large. The chicken was very good but small. Several bites were just the pineapple, veggies and bread---if larger everything would have been GREAT. There was a singer so it was a great atmosphere. Rileigh was our server and she did a phenomenal job. She did a good job making suggestions and guiding us.

The best meal on our trip to Wellsboro and Leonard Harrison State Park was served at Beck's Bistro on Main Street, about two blocks from the Penn Wells Hotel. Beck's is an adaptive reuse of an old commercial establishment, with exposed used brick walls, wood plank floor, high ceiling and large plate glass windows looking over Main Street. Service was attractive and efficient, and the full service bar in the main room beautifully set up in wood and polyurethane. They have a decent craft beer selection which we took advantage of. Our meals were light, but exceptionally delicious. We both had vegetable dishes. The better half had Roasted Beet Salad with Salmon, and I, their Roasted Brussel Sprouts in a Glaze. Both were superb. Loved the red and white beets and the vinaigrette they bathed in. The salmon was crisp with good flavor. Not fishy at all. The Brussels were among the best I have had the pleasure to entertain - charred, but firm and a delight. With appropriate background music (Rock ballads), and attentive service, it was a superior evening that surprised us by its quality and enjoyability. Don't miss this one.

Was looking around Wellsboro for something new and found Beck's an excellent choice. Friendly service, a great menu, skillfully prepared food and competitive prices all in a comfortable and convenient space right off Main Street. Not too crowded or noisy, easy to hold a conversation without having to raise voices - and with the food as good as it was there was lots to talk about! Will definitely be back for more.

This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and…read morefeelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!

HOTEL GUEST FREE BREAKFAST REVIEW…read more Our stay at Penn Wells Hotel in downtown Wellsboro, PA, included complementary breakfast each morning. It was provided in the farthest partition of the large dining room, immediately outside the kitchen door. It was available daily between 7-10 a.m. The dining room was mahogany wall covered with B&W photos of past events and celebrities of the 19th and early 20th Century, and paintings by local artists. It wasn't bad as a gallery of historic personalities and moments in the long life of this hotel, and its status as the coolest place to be seen in town. Breakfast itself was decent, but far from outstanding. As the saying goes; "You're paying for the atmosphere," if , in fact, you're paying at all. The menu consisted of instant scrambled eggs, brown & serve morning sausage, bread/bagels/muffins, cups of yogurt, fresh fruit, instant oatmeal and Starbucks coffee. Buffet style, you can return for as much as you wanted. I didn't load up due to my physical plans for each day, but ate enough to know it was all satisfying and filling; especially the java. It was a good place to start the day. There was plenty of room. We were allowed to sit anywhere in the large dining room, and the chafing trays were kept warm and refilled. Aside from the "instant" nature of most of the food, the break was well worth the fast.

He had it John Wayne style, which means chili and cheese on top. It was quite large and excellent. I ordered their blueberry pancakes with a slice of ham. Also, very large and tasty. One thing I noted was how quickly the food came after our order. We were not unique. I noticed many were also served quickly. Service is great. I don't usually like syrup on pancakes and when I asked, they gave me something else other than syrup. We talked with some of our friends who come to Becky's almost daily and they said that the diner starts their order as soon as they sit down (because it doesn't change very often), and it comes out within a few minutes of sitting down. There are lots of booths along the walls and tables in the center. Vinyl tablecloths are used. Very practical. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which is really nice in the summer and fall. They are open for breakfast and lunch. The owner keeps a food pantry outside the door. I think this is one of the best breakfast places around. 5 stars as it is everything you'd expect in a breakfast/lunch diner plus great service and friendly atmosphere.

I've gone there on and off for a few years hoping the vibe might change to be more welcoming, but It hasn't. The last time I was there, I brought my wife for a relaxing breakfast together. There was one table left. I put my phone on the table and got in line to order our food, so when the food comes up we aren't standing there holding our food trying to eat standing up. The two girls in line in front of us waiting to order did the same exact thing, as their 2 purses were on a table and were in front of me in line, as did another man that I know was in line with his hat on a table. However, they decided to humiliate and embarrass us, telling us to take our things off the table and order first before taking a table. Even though we've done it many times before and most people do. We unfortunately were their petty examples of the day. We got out of line and left and spent our money at another breakfast spot that is equally as good or better, without the stress, humiliation and woke attitudes. We will never be back to The Sawhorse Cafe in Williamsport Pa, and I will be sure to tell my circle of friends about my unpleasant experience so they can too decide if they want to eat there. Maybe with less people coming in, we can help your seating dilemma.
