If you are looking for good custard, this is a great spot. No drive thru so you'll walk up to order. They have some seating if you'll like to stay and eat. Some take it to their car and eat by it or on the tailgate if you have a truck. Its a nice chill area for friends and family to enjoy. This place is open late spring to fall. I've been to Fritz as a child and distinctively remember red velvet standing out to me. Coming back and getting red velvet as an adult has been a full circle moment for me. It's also become a special tradition for my friends and family to get some when it's out. The red velvet flavor is not a permanent menu item yet so when it's chosen as the flavor of the day we always make sure to come by and snag it! The custard here is by far my favorite, it's thick and always has the perfect amount of toppings. I absolutely love bringing people by who haven't been especially if they are new to St. Louis. The only reason this is getting 2 stars is because I loved my ice cream. By far the WORST ordering experience... we walk up and order our concretes, the employee taking our order is chewing/chomping ice from her Stanley cup the entire time (ew... manners). Then when she calls our order, she didn't put it in a bag with lids so we asked kindly for her to wrap that up as it is 93 degrees and we weren't eating there. She gave a considerable amount of attitude about having to do that (you're in a customer service job) and took her sweet time doing so. I get it's busy and we weren't frustrated about waiting... just her absolute disregard to do her own job. Earlier in the year, I would have given a 5-star review. A large strawberry shake was my weekly treat, and I didn't mind paying $7.99 For one. The shakes WERE thick and creamy and with real strawberries. My last two visits, the shakes tasted watered down. The first time, I thought maybe they had someone new making them. They gave me a complimentary shake last time I visited and complained about the previous shake. That one was watered down too. Not sure what is going on. Trying to save money and hoping no one will notice? New company supplying ingredients? Maybe I'll try again later in the summer, and revise my review. This is, personally, the best place for me to get a St Louis treat. Our family loves it. Our dogs love it! Even when there is a line it moves very fast. I have no idea how the folks working in the back keep all the orders straight but they do. About the only down side is on a nice evening there aren't enough seats to go around. This place was tasty and they have good options for a "Create Your Own" concrete IF your order is correct. Which most of the time something is wrong. I mean, it's ice cream so I don't know how it can get so messed up so easily. But maybe adding flavors is harder than it seems...who knows. The reason why I love this place (and love it way more than Ted Drewes) is because they offer a "light" version of ice-cream that is to die for and won't leave you feeling like you swallowed a five pound weight. My favorite options are the "turtle" (light vanilla, chocolate fudge, caramel, and pecans), the fudge brownie sundae, and the light butter pecan. My mouth waters just thinking about them, topped with a cherry and melting like butter! Mmmm.... Portions are large here, and I do just fine on a junior; you will not be disappointed with size.
