When it got here, the air was filled with beautiful fried chicken. it was even better when we ate. Ordered: - Cheese Balls - interesting concept these cheese balls - reminds me of the consistency of the sesame laughing balls in chinese dim sum but savoury, not sweet. - Soy Garlic Chicken - Fried chicken glazed with soy garlic sauce - quite tasty - Sweet Potato Balls - similar to the cheese balls except made with sweet potato and cheese - Secret Sauced Chicken - Fried chicken glazed with their secret Korean sweet sauce - Yummy! Needless to say, my sister's birthday wish came true - she loved her Fried Chicken!! LOL

Hubby and I came in at noon on a Friday. We were greeted by a smiling, friendly, soft spoken cashier who promptly took our takeout order for fried chicken, coleslaw, and mac n' cheese. Their chicken is fresh, made to order and perfectly crispy with their signature lechon seasoning and juicy meat. The coleslaw is cold and crunchy and the mac n' cheese is rich and creamy. There is even a small dining area of three small booths upstairs and several small tables downstairs. Compared to most other fried chicken shops that we've tried, Kukuruku has the largest pieces(and juiciest) of chicken that is presented to you in a suitably sized box!

Tasted good and different from other chicken places. Opened in October 2024 and it seems that it's a good place to try since I noticed a continuous flow of customers were enthusiastically happy. Service was good and place was clean. There's also an extended dining area on the second floor. No elevator service. One multi-purpose washroom located on the main floor. The Corn Fritters are unique & tasty, the chicken & fries not so much, but the portions are pretty big. I thought ALL locations were standardized but later learned this ain't the case. Altho I was LATE picking up my order I had to wait another 15 +/- minutes... WTF up wif dat?! There's only 1 kid working & no other customers. BOTTOM LINE: give it a try, but don't expect flattering food bursting with flavor, nor anything special. NOTE TO OWNER(s): the place needs a faceLift all around, inside & out, including floors, counter, paint, cleaning, windows, etc, basically a more modern appeal, again "inside & out & all around". Everything seems "old", including the service, packaging, and yes, ALSO the food. ALL locations should engage in a some kinda city-wide Marketing Campaign.

Eventually they took my order for a Hungary Man and I grabbed it and got outside, yikes, the fries were really lousy I thought they were just over cooked but it might have been reheated, hard to say. Anyway the dog enjoyed them. I then headed out and grabbed a corn-fritter while driving home and more bad news, the oil smelled really gross on them and it was just off. Even today now as a write this they smell odd, maybe they're not changing the oil out properly or something. Even the chicken was a bit strange smelling, I had two drumsticks but I dunno maybe they had a bad day? Anyway it was bad enough to make me call the original Dunn family location in Kensington last night and ask to chat with the owner. I'm born and raised here in Calgary and I've been going there for 45 years so I know what their quality is usually like and it wasn't this !! I've even made 200 piece orders for company functions and ordered 80 pieces during the annual anniversary sales so I know what I'm talking about ...... Anyway its the next day and no call back from the head store which is disappointing - anyway I'd say for SURE avoid the Crowfoot Location. Also what's not so surprising is last night when I called the main store, the girl on the phone said its NOT the first call they've had about that franchise owner and the food quality, so nice to know it's not just me I guess. So I'd say give that shop a miss, its gonna be a 22 min drive from my place down to the original Chicken on the Way in Kensington instead of 8 minutes to the Crowfoot store but it'll be worth it ......

I ordered the Sweet n Spicy BBQ 5pcs chicken set and it was delicious! The chicken was crispy and tender. The fries and salad were also great and complimented the chicken well. All-in-all, this was a GREAT value meal for under $20. Definitely satisfied my Korean Fried Chicken cravings and then some. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a great chicken spot!

Quirky as hell but probably THE best fried chicken I have EVER had!…read more This is totally the kind of place you'd expect to run into Guy Fieri and the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives crew filming in... heavy emphasis on the Dives vibe here... don't go wearing your Sunday best to this place... probably best to go after a full day of sweaty yard work in your grimy coveralls. I've driven past this place probably a million times... it's in Ogden (which itself is a dive neighbourhood so it fits right in) and boasts Broasted Chicken... but what the hell does that mean? Chef owner Doc tells me that Broasted Chicken means that the chicken is deep fried in a pressure cooker (!) - who knew that this technique = spectacular fried everything. The chicken comes out in fried perfection smoking hot (careful here because you're going to really want to take a big bite but that will require skin grafts to the roof of your mouth)... the product cooks in just a few minutes and it's not at all greasy even though it was just in a vat of molten cooking oil.. the obviously hand cut fries were pretty epic too with some very fine house made brown gravy... you'll probably wonder why you ever had KFC. Chef Doc squarely falls into the category of being a 'character'... I can see how he might come across as a bit 'gruff' or 'grumpy' and absolutely not fancy but he's super passionate about his food... I'm really looking forward to trying his fish and chips next time and/or his smoked brisket. Really solid! Getting a 'bucket of chicken' to take away would absolutely make you a champ at your next picnic or potluck... Doc tells me that his chicken is really great as leftovers out of the fridge and I can imagine that would certainly be true (next time I go I think I might order a few extra pieces to take home to do just that!)... apparently Doc marinates his chicken in some concoction of Indian spices and probably yogurt I'd guess and the result is crispy moist tender fried chicken that's just a little bit spicy. When I walked into this place I certainly did not expect a chicken nirvana experience - I certainly had one!
