We stop at Big Boy every trip to Cincinnati, and this location served up one of the best Big Boys I've ever had. The only drawback to this location is that they serve Pepsi instead of Coke. Not sure if they've all switched, but it's just not the same without a Cherry Coke. read more

Wow 3.5 this place was a dark horse. I had extremely low expectations since it's older and not very fancy, but it was BUSY. Now I know why it's busy, they are GOOD at what they do and reasonably priced. If it isn't broken don't fix it. They do what they do very well. Honest to god the $12 burger meal was honestly bigger and better than a $36 burger meal we got elsewhere the other day. My Buffalo strips and fries were so good! Breakfast buffet Sunday morning around 11. The server was good--very pleasant--and that's the only reason I give it a 2 star rating. The food, with the exception of the biscuits, which were quite good unless you put gravy on them, was atrocious. Cold instant scrambled eggs, no other eggs available, cold cheesy "hashbrowns" that tasted like i don't know what, sausage, bacon, tiny pancakes i didn't try, My orange juice was fine. My wife, always kinder than I, said the coffee was nasty. I had a couple of bites of biscuit that didn't have the gravy muck on it, and the biscuit was really good. Yes, we should probably know better than to risk a breakfast buffet, but if you're charging nearly $20 a person, it should at least be mildly enjoyable. After writing and rethinking this meal, I had to take away one of the two stars. My server was good. The food was not. Never again. read more

Its been years since I've been to a Big Boy. This particular restaurant is being remodeled so it's not the cleanest. I had the Super Big Boy with Onion Rings. They make the onion rings fresh in house. I could see them making them. I had a great view of the kitchen from where I was seated. Even though they were made fresh, they were really bland. The breading was just kind of on the onion and soft. There was no crunch. The Big Boy burger taste different from what I remember. This is Big Boy's version of a Big Mac. It was good but the sauce again was kind of tasteless. Other people in my party had the fried mushrooms. I'm sorry but they sure did not look appetizing. However, they did have the Hot Fudge Cake and the Coconut Cream Pie. They looked delicious and they said it was. Our waitress was really good. We took advantage of the breakfast bar. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was hot and fresh! This was a pleasant surprise compared to other locations. Service was exceptional. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating. One MAJOR problem with this location is the fact it is not handicapped accessible. I know right! How this can be is beyond me. Fortunately we had others to help us inside. I did however sit outside the door for about 5 minutes before I was able to get assistance. Food & service deserve 5 stars. These delicious things are proof that not all good things have to come in pretty, neat packages. They are goopy, messy goodness! I only let myself have one about once a year because they are probably so terribly bad for you. So when I do get a hot fudge cake I cherish that moment. CHERISH IT! BAD EXPERIENCE! Not with the food, but the manager. I ordered a Big Boy with no tartar sauce. They brought it with. (when we got the ticket, we could tell that the waitress had ordered it correctly). So the waitress took it back and brought another one. Upon biting into it I tasted tartar sauce; upon inspection I discovered it had merely been wiped off (What if I had an allergy to this stuff?). Told the waitress, she got he manager. Manager said it looked ok, but showed her the sauce. She took it off the bill, but her attitude, and the lack of apology, ruined the whole experience for us. I have had bad service in restaurants before, and have complained on RARE occasions. When a mistake is made, an apology can cover a lot of sins. But NO APOLOGY? No thanks. Stopped by expecting the Big Boy salad bar full of unlimited possibilities! It was disappointing! Salad bar as well as the other bar were so sadly stocked that I ordered off the menu and ended up getting salad from the salad bar with only crispy chicken added. The waitress was the youngest one there and the worst, didn't pay attention really not very personable took forever to bring one simple item ordered the wrong item from the menu replaying that she heard grilled cheese and not cheeseburger and just not personable whatsoever! Our recent to big boys here in Chillicothe wasn't all that great of an experience like couple of months ago or so not sure what date it was and times before that as well and I still see the one kid that's a server still doesn't have his hair taken care of to this day for the last time I had seen him. That's at one point in time and now they lost a valuable paying customer over a server that was up in our table every 45 to 2 minutes asking if our food was ok 3 times we told the server the female that we was there. Then later but later the manager came that's when we walked out the door and lost us as a customer that day. We got seriously fed up with it and kept bothering us when we're trying to enjoy our meal. Disgusting! The salt & pepper shakers have "stuff" in them. At first glance, it could be pepper but it's not. There were pink things inside the salt shaker. In addition to that, my husband ordered the Country Chicken Bowl with grilled chicken. About 5-6 bites into the dish he discovered a huge breaded chicken tender. How exactly does a breaded tended get in a dish that has grilled chicken in it? You would think the grilled chicken and breaded chicken are not stored together in the kitchen. The place was nasty. Living in rural OH, we travel to nearest "big city" of Chillicothe @ 6-8 weeks to run errands and enjoy lunch out. Frisch's Big Boy makes a good but not great burger. The Classic Cheeseburger could definitely use a little work. While the burger is handmade and the toppings are likewise fresh, they're completely overwhelmed by the Brioche bun. WAY too much bun! If there was any of the Frisch's classic tartar sauce - the condiment of Frisch's choice on many of their griddled offerings - you couldn't prove it by the cheeseburger I had. Final point, Frisch's? Where's the yellow mustard? Second time we've eaten at this location only to find ketchup but no mustard on the table. While tartar sauce on a burger isn't bad, diners would like to have the option of adding a little ketchup AND mustard to a burger. Bet you've heard of single-serve packets. read more

First time I have been to a Frisch's since the early 1960's. Don't have one in our area. Both Carol and I really enjoyed the food. It was just as we remembered it all those years ago. Our waitress Erica was outstanding. Very attentive, professional, uplifting and a pleasure to talk to. Next time we are in town we will definitely grab a bite to eat here. The restaurant is clean and recently remodeled. The servers are professional and prompt. Food is decent. I don't do buffets, but it seems to be the draw for most others at the restaurant. I eat with a regular lunch group and we all order from the menu. I really like the Turkey Burger, it's moist and tasty. I do wish they had a whole wheat bun option, since they don't I just skip the bun. The turkey burger comes with a great sauce, and if you order the sauce on the side you get a respectable quantity (1-1/2 teaspoons - since it's mayo based, that's plenty), but if you don't ask for it on the side you barely get a smudge on your bun. My lunch partners RAVE about the vegetable soup and fish sandwich. We frequent Frisch's about once a month or so. read more

The Frisch's Big Boy on Bridge Street in Chillicothe, OH, is a well lighted, clean, spacious coffee shop. I was tempted to try the double-decker Big Boy Burger of my youth but had breakfast instead. There was a brunch buffet, but I ordered pancakes, bacon, eggs, and fruit. My wife had pancakes, sausage links, and eggs. We both had coffee and juice. The prices were moderate. Our waitress was friendly and informative about our choices. I'll stop at this one again if I ever travel through Chillicothe again. read more
