This is literally the first ever haunted house I've ever been to that I was genuinely scared. I will definitely be coming again

This attraction is absolute trash. By far, the worst haunt I have ever visited in any state I have been in for Halloween. First, the production value and design is incredibly sub par. It's like they paid high school students to build this and pepper in random "horror" props from Party City. The website avertises 3 different themes that you will walk through, and you CAN NOT tell them apart since everything looks the same amateurish. Second, the "actors". How can these folks be called actors when they barely did a friggin thing?? The majority of them just stood there or walked past people. Not once did I see anyone jump out and scare anyone. And no one here had any quality makeup on. It's like they all just had crap face painting slapped on them. Thank god my group and I bought the fast passes. We would have been livid to have waited in the long ass line for what we heard was a good two hours for some, and come out disappointed as we did. The folks running this don't care about quality or actually providing an experience. They're simply cashing in on cheap shyte. We bounced over to Legends of Fear after, located about 20 mins from this. And finally had a terrific experience full of scares for everyone in my group. I have been to over 100 haunted houses. Here is everything you need to know about Fright Haven. This haunt is run by people who love all things fun and scary, and a lot is put into their productions. It is entirely indoors where walk through a large maze in a warehouse. It's the largest indoor haunt in CT, one of the biggest in all of New England. This is great if the weather is wet, cold, etc. But it also leaves something lacking that outdoor venues have. Adjust your expectations accordingly. They sell VIP passes, but I don't think you need them unless you're going at the peak busy time (like 9pm on a Saturday) or you just hate waiting in line. I personally have found wait times are no longer than 30 minutes or so, and it's fun talking with people in line as your blood gets going. I have not been there at a crazy busy time, but I have not seen the line so long it stretches outside. I'd rank it 4 out of 5 as far as how scary it is. There are more scary haunts, but this one will make you jump for sure. There's not a great deal of electronic, or mechanical effects, with more effort put into the talent, and creating cool sets. One section has a slew of mirrors that is really trippy, another section is 3D, etc. It should be known this group is so passionate that they have scares almost year round. When Halloween is over they offer a 18+ event called Blind Rage where the actors can touch you in a completely dark maze that is not for the timid. At Christmas they offer a twisted Nightmare Xmas haunt, when February comes around they change over to a Bloody Valentine haunt. They've also had St. Patrick's Day, a Friday the 13th camp like set, a Halloween in summer haunt, and more that are as fun as they are scary. So if you're someone who can't get enough when Halloween is over, follow them on social media. These "off season" haunts frequently sell out (believe it or not) so make sure you plan and buy tickets early! read more

This is a tricky review to write, since my friends and I had a really fun time once we got into the actual attraction. The actors were really engaged, the decor and props were appropriately creepy, and the special effects (especially the 3D area) were very cool. There were areas that really messed with our heads! Now for the downside - We had to wait for OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF in line to get in, as we didn't pay for the "VIP" tickets. The first half hour was outside, where we were BLASTED with insanely loud metal music. Every third person was holding their hands over their ears and I actually got a headache. If you go to Fright Haven, I strongly recommend ear protection. Also, avoid liquids, as getting out of line to get to a bathroom might be problematic. There had been a themed art/craft show earlier, which was a little sparse, but had some cool, handmade goth/horror items. I don't know if the musical torture was an offshoot of this event or not. Having music is a great idea, given the wait. Assaulting people until their ears bleed is something else entirely. It's up to you whether you pay twice the price to get in faster. Fright Haven needs to work on their entrance system. And, for God's sake, turn the music down. read more

I loved this event. Halloween is my favorite holiday so I really enjoyed attending this. We came here for a date night And attended the Valentine's Day sucks event and I freaking loved it. Costumes and decorations were great. I can't wait to attend another in the future. read more

I didn't love Fright Haven. I bought a Groupon for it a while back, as my husband always loves trying new haunted attractions. We had VIP tickets, and we only paid $30 or so for 2 tickets, as I had an additional discount on the Groupon itself. We still had to wait in line outside for about 10 - 15 minutes to get in, which was fine, but wouldn't have been so fine if we paid $70 (actual VIP ticket price) to skip the wait in line. The actors outside were lame and not scary at all. I would say the same of most of the actors inside. A lot seemed to be high school/college student age. Most rooms we passed through had only one live actor and just a few props. It got pretty predictable with looking for the one live person hiding in a corner, wondering when they were going to jump out. The coolest part was the 3D area. Still not all that scary, but pretty cool effects, nothing I've seen before. That's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. The scariest part was the exit...you walk through an empty locker room (apparently this used to be a Bally Total Fitness/Blast Fitness location) and into a back parking lot around the back corner of the building. Minimal lighting, no staff, and definitely the feeling that actual bad things could happen there. Maybe it will be better when it's busier, but they should also consider putting some staff in the area, for the safety of the customers. It might be the biggest haunted attraction in the state, but it's definitely not the best. Maybe it's sort of worth it if you scare easily and live in the area. If you do feel compelled to go, definitely go for the Groupon so that you can save a little cash (it's still out there as of today). read more

Really awesome place! Won contest tickets to their special Valentine's themed haunted attraction, so free passes is always a great start. Friends decided to join in, then winter storm Nico hit and we couldn't go for our regularly scheduled time of Friday at 7pm. Luckily this place is a class act and allowed us to redeem the tickets on Saturday instead. The wait wasn't too bad since we got there early, VIP cutting ahead definitely pushed it back to about 30 minutes- so if you can splurge, VIP seems worth it. The scare factor itself is about 6- they pop out of nowhere! But sometimes they are just following you around and screaming at you, however the decorations, installations, and interactive rooms bring up the entire experience to a solid 9/10! Really cool 3D area, and some great acting. I had to drive an hour from New York and I still thoroughly enjoyed the experience, would go again, and the feeing was mutual amongst my friends. Hoping they do more special weekend thrills and not just for Halloween! read more

Pretty cool haunted house. Great attention to detail in the sets, decorations, and actors. Went there on a Sunday evening and waited for about 20 minutes in line. Not what I was expecting. Not really scary at all. I jumped a few times in the beginning but then it got predictable and the people just seemed childish not scary. Some older guy kept making fun of the way we yelled when we got scared. One of us said "oh sh*t" when we first got scared. He kept coming around the corner and repeating "oh sh*t" in a whiney childish voice. That pretty much ruined it for us. What was up with that?? We went on a Thursday night so I don't think there were many people working. We got the Groupon and paid half the price of the regular tickets. I would have been so pissed if we waited an hour like other people and paid the $80 full price. Totally not worth it. Maybe worth the Groupon on a Friday or Saturday. But then you know you're gonna be in a crowd of immature high school / college kids. They need to up the scary. read more

This haunt was MUCH better than we expected! We read some of the reviews and were nervous, but after going through, those people didn't see the haunt we did! First though, the fast pass is a must. The line, even at 7pm was SO long. After the outdoor line there's another long line indoors. With the fast pass there's literally zero wait, so it's definitely worth the extra bucks! But the reason the line moves so slow is the reason this haunt is so great. They don't send you in big groups, when it was our turn my husband and I were sent in by ourselves, which means there's no one in front of you spoiling the jumps. Once inside, it's non-stop fun! There are three different themed sections, and each deliver. The set design was incredible, not like most other area haunts that are tarp walls with paint and cheap decorations. They took their time with the layout and design and it showed. It was very immersive and we even stopped a few times to admire the sets. There are two animatronics that really stood out, a scarecrow and a dragon like creature, that were amazing! There were dummies, animatronics and the actors. Most of the time you couldn't tell which were which until they jumped out at you! There were definitely a few actors we thought were fake that took us by surprise! They're coming out of the walls, out from under things, even dropping down from the ceiling. And just when you think you're turning the corner to an exit, you enter a new area. We had a blast, and with two young kids we have to roll the dice on which haunt we see each year because we can only do one, and this year we were not disappointed! read more

The true horror was how many people weren't wearing masks and how the 2.5 hour line wasn't social distanced at all.

After buying our tickets I saw all these negative reviews and soon worried I'd regret this decision. On top of that we paid $40 for fast passes. When you arrive they have a massive parking lot so getting in is easy. When we got to the entrance the worker told everyone that general admission was a 3 hour wait (wow) but fast pass was only 15. We walked right in and were given our tickets. Although the other reviews stated the fast pass only got you past the outdoor line, we were taken directly to the front of the line. All this in 5 minutes. It definitely felt like a Disney fast pass system. The haunted house itself had great detail, actors, animiteonics and themed rooms. Social distancing was done well, then again I got to skip the line. The actors did get up in your face a lot but they also had masks on. I only wish this could have been a bit longer because of how fun and scary it was. It took roughly 20 minutes to complete. Definitely worth the visit! read more

THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME, the 3D animatronics were scary good! Looked like real people. The actors were perfect hiding in all the right spots to scare you, and they wouldn't stop following you! The best part was losing my phone inside and thinking I would have to get a new one ‍ thankfully one of the managers(Bobby) got right on top of it and I didn't wait not more then 15 mins before they were able to find my phone! Highly recommend this place and definitely will be returning for the Christmas Themed Scares. read more

My daughter loves haunted places so last year we drove up from the Wilmington, Delaware area. 184 miles and 3 hours 15 minutes drive one-way and it was so worth the spur-of-the-moment trip! The effects and actors were fabulous! The wait outside was probably 10 minutes but flew because we had so much fun talking with everyone in line. You can definitely tell this attraction is a labor of love from the whole team. Well done!!! We're planning another trip this year! read more

Went tonight! It was actually fun!! And "scary". Hahaha!!! Not cheesy dumb like you expect. The only haunted houses I've ever done have been at Universal in Orlando. The 3D part of it was almost on par with Universal. But I was very happy with it!!! I'm kicking myself for saying out loud "oh that creepy guy didn't scare me HAHHAA" literally less than a minute later, the SAME guy finds me and scares the living crap out of me!! LOL!!!! My own fault for that. But lots of laughs and lots and lots jumps and yelps. Hehehehe. Glad I went. Don't spend the $$ for VIP just wait in line for the regular tix. Awful. I went last year and was charged 25$ for a 10 minute walk through that wasn't scary. And then at the end my group was exiting the building walking outside now to make our way to the parking lot just to get ambushed by a monster with a chainsaw. Because it was unexpected we all got scared and began to run. I tripped over my feet and fell ripping my pants and getting a very deep scrape on both knees and wrists. They shouldn't be scaring people once they leave the attraction and I could kick myself for not complaining. They should have been the ones to buy me a new pair of pants. Not to mention days of pain in my knees. Will never return. read more

I recently went here with my sisters and enjoyed the walk through. The walk through was very spooky and the actors did a great job. We bought the ticket before looking up Yelp reviews. We were a little hesitant from reading all the comments saying the line wait is really long or that there were not many actors. However, it turned to out to be awesome! The actors were very interactive with everyone there. We got there around 6:30 and waiting for a little over an hour. I would recommend getting there early to wait in line so it won't be as bad. I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the wait time. It wasn't too bad but when I usually go to Lake Compounce, their lines go faster. Overall, it was still great time! read more

Paid $83 for two VIP tickets so we didn't wait outside very long at all but then you do have to wait in another line to get into the haunted house area regardless if you bought vip or not. The lines didn't bother me really but I wasn't too impressed with this place to be honest. Had some cool stuff for sure but definitely something more for kids. If you have any kids take them here but if you're adults then I suggest going to Legends of fear only 20m away. That place was terrifying even for us adults and the same price! read more

It was lame- Given the ticket price, I was expecting something more professional. I agree with the other reviews, it only took us about 10mins to get through the entire place, and it was very predictable and had a low budget feel. Actors were pretty disengaged, some didn't even move from their predictable corner. It was so much fun. It was pretty scary. We have gone to many Haunted houses in several states for many years. This was our first time here. We went Halloween night. It was so worth the price. Loved it. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. And all the actors gave 110%. Special effects were fantastic. ---We only had one issue. The guy after the body parts in bags needs to be talked to. He spoke so vile to the two women I our group and only the women. It really crossed the line. One of our women was young and the other was a senior citizen. He blocked them in a corner and used serious profanity and said he would do the most God awful things to them. Great Haunted House! Its early in the season so there was no line and a very short wait to get in. Actors outside to start the fun while you wait. They offer a VIP pass to skip to the front of the line for a little more $$$ i might be worth it in a long line and colder weather. The props are pretty impressive looking, lots of scares lots of actors who are super into it. Even has a 3D component. A very fun night and love that they are open rain or shine! Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is even though there were only 2 people in front of us in line we waited for about 10 minutes to get in. I didn't mind until i got in and saw there was PLENTY of room to wait and line up inside and no reason to keep people waiting outside shivering. Would go back for sure though. read more

We show up on a Friday night in mid-October and there's not a large crowd, already a bad sign for a haunted house. We go in and are told there's a wait for the general admission line which is surprising because there are not lots of people showing up. We get in line and are greeted by a women trying to upsell VIP tickets for $20/person. After telling her we are not interested she proceeds to say "Okay well enjoy your hour wait" with quite a bit of sass. Now I don't care what business you are in, that is an unbelievably rude thing to say to any customer. You should be extremely grateful that I drove an hour in traffic and paid 20 bucks to walk through your extremely mediocre 10 minute haunted house filled with broken animatronics and a dozen high schoolers. And on top of that the wait was actually only 20 minutes. I know it must be hard to make it has a haunted house these days but lying to your customers to upsell VIP is just bad business. Save your money and go to Lake Compounce. Way more fun and way better value. read more

Can't believe the negative reviews for Fright Haven. The bad reviewers clearly don't understand the incredible amount of work that goes into the production of a haunted attraction. Not only is this their first year back open, this is their first year in the Stratford location. Just this summer the building was still a dumpy abandoned gym. It is amazing what they have been able to do in just a short time. The attraction is fantastic! As someone who has attended over 20 haunted attractions this season alone, Fright Haven is high class. Many of the local negative reviews are saying "Trail of Terror is better and longer". You also cannot compare an outdoor attraction, that has collected millions of dollars in revenue for years, to a brand new INDOOR experience. I attended Fright Haven on opening night and again on closing night of the season. The attraction was so much better in just that short time! I sincerely believe they will continue to make the attraction better for next year! IT WILL continue to grow.If you are someone who loves haunted attractions or are looking for a fun local attraction Fright Haven is for you! Do not let someone else invalid negative opinion keep you from experiencing this attraction. Fright Haven IS SCARY, and you will absolutely have a good time if you go in with a fun group and an open mind. As for kids, It depends how brave they are! read more

Had a great time. Purchased a Groupon ticket for 2 at $39. We went the first Saturday it opened, so there wasn't much of a wait for us to get in. For me, the scariest part was at the beginning, since I had no idea what to expect and I led our group. Definitely jumped and screamed quite a few times. The attraction started off strong with the scare tactics, but midway through, right before we got to the clown area, I'm not sure if it was because my eyes adjusted to the dark by then, but I was able to see where the actors were standing/hiding before they saw me, so by the time they saw me and tried to scare me, it just wasn't happening. Also, the actresses/clowns at the end, the ones just screaming commands at us, were kind of annoying. I couldn't really hear the words they were saying so it was hard to understand what they wanted, I was more confused about what was happening there than scared. Overall, I still recommend, I feel like what I paid was worth the scare I got. The clowns, and 3D section at the end were a little disappointing, but the actors, and props at the beginning were awesome. read more
