This year's 2024 "Coven of the Rotted" included Terrifier, Silent Hill, Silence of the Lambs, Dolls and a Voodoo room among many others! There is always a "twist" on the best classic movies, but they've had themes like Monsters Inc. and Toy Story in the past. The themes are always changing and EVERY year is different. The trail takes about an hour to walk through but the scares start once you walk through the entryway! Characters will interact with you (but not touch) and the display of animatronics is a great way to start the night! There is a midway "stop" area to take photos, grab a snack and break up the groups of people that tend to get bunched together through the trail. How can these folks be called actors when they barely did a friggin thing?? The majority of them just stood there or walked past people. Not once did I see anyone jump out and scare anyone. We would have been livid to have waited in the long ass line for what we heard was a good two hours for some, and come out disappointed as we did. Characters walk by for photo ops and entertainment while you wait in line. NYPD staff is so fun and friendly. The house is for ages 12 and older, they allow younger ages at the parent's discretion. It so well done with jump scares in almost every room. It feels like a safe outing. Hours this year are 5pm to 11pm from Friday to Sunday. They let you in in small groups so you don't feel rushed. At the end, they sell Halloween themed souvenirs with NYPD and Fort Totten on them. I bought a Tshirt to support such an awesome event which is FREE to the community. We loved it and appreciated it!

You take the ski lift to the top of the mountain and walk down. I had never been on a ski lift before and in the dark in the woods gave me a little anxiety ha ha. The trail itself is OK. There's a lot of cool items set up and multiple emergency exits with the staff. There didn't seem to be enough actors on the trail. For me, it was too many people. If the people in front of you start walking too slow, you catch up to them. The actors jump out at them, not at you. There is a lot of walking that is downhill so be prepared for that. At the end, there was a party atmosphere with music, drinks, food, fire pits, etc. I liked the concept overall, but not great execution. they definitely need more actors on the trail.
