This fair is not very big and it did not have blooming onion. It did have a very nice beer garden and the beer and wine and Ciders were 8 and $9 with a really good poor. There was cute vendors everywhere and even a farmers market. There are pig races and lots of different animals. You could feed the goats and ride on the ponies if you're a child. There was parking close to the event but when that parking was full you had to go through the parking and then to another parking lot and then either take a shuttle or walk. There was parking nearby for a fee if you didn't want to wait in the line. I got fried dough with sauce and powdered sugar and a bottle of water for $10 which I didn't think was too bad. It's a nice small fair to start off the fair season. The entry was about $13 each to get in before the fee. read more

The North Haven Fair us always a great local festival. They had over 10 food trucks, animals, vendors and crafts. There was live music in multiple locations and shows. Can't forget the carnival games and rides. I, of course, had to get some fried dough! What's a trip to the dairy without it?! We has gorgeous weather and ended the day at the wine/beer tent. read more

Seems strange that I would only give the North Haven Fair three stars. I didn't even take any pictures! If you look around you'll find enough pictures by others. I've been going to the North Haven fair since 1974 when I first moved to the State of Connecticut. I realize that all things must change, either do the circumstance or condition, so it's not the fact that the North Haven fair was kind of twisted around and convoluted and shifted; so much as it wasn't done logically, at least in my way of thinking. They've always been very purposeful about putting all the amusements in one place and all of the exhibit in another, and yet (for example) They had their food vendors all over the place. The fact that they shifted the position for the amusements didn't bother me, or that they upgraded their "horse pulling" arena which they probably have renamed the "tractor pulling" arena. It was nice that some of the basic familiar flow of the place was like it used to be, but clearly either because of Covid or somebody else's input, there was a concerted effort to change things around and it just felt unfamiliar. One of the joys of some thing that has been around for a long time is the familiarity of it. So although I can adapt to change, I don't necessarily like it. Such is the case yesterday. Don't be too quick to spend your dollars at the first food vendor you see because there are others scattered around the grounds. You've got to go all the way to the back by the amusements in order to find the candy apple and cotton candy vendor for example. Typically we go there on a Friday and once in a while on a Thursday when they first open up, just to avoid the crowds. However we did not stay for the evening when all the lights are on and I really do like that so maybe next year. It is still free to park on the fairgrounds, even though there are plenty of five dollar parking lots close to the fairgrounds. Get there at a reasonable hour and you won't have any trouble finding a place to park on the grounds for no cost. read more

Used to be a good local fair but it's mostly food and amusement rides. I hadn't been in a few years and I had high hopes of it being more than I got yesterday. I was expecting more local vendors, where were they???? I did enjoy the livestock and the local homemade food and craft exhibit but again, where were the vendors. The fair was really over before it began except for the band, pocket full of soul. They were great. Will not return unless I hear there have been some major improvements. read more

I have been attending the fair for years. My main attraction was entering baked goods and flowers in hopes to win a best in show. The fair has always been a source of excitement for me and my family and it has always been very good, until the year they changed their pricing structure. As a businessman I knew immediately that this move was a huge mistake. It use to be that when someone entered an item to be judged they were able to get in all four days for free. They changed this to only two days. Big mistake. This has the cascading effect of less attendance which is readily apparent. There is less than half of the entries that there use to be. Less entries means less people. Less people means increasing vendor fees. Increased vendor fees means less vendors. Less vendors means raising entrance fees.......get my point? Fair coordinators: if you wish to return the fair back to its former glory days please listen to my suggestions. Immediately reduce the entrance fee to $5 per head. Any competitor should get 2 free tickets for all four days. Drastically lower vendor costs to attract more businesses and put in an arts and crafts section. Attempt to earn more through quantity rather than per head works every time. Also, ditch the band in the front. They're just noise. Prohibit smoking on the grounds. There's kids for gods sake. Have local farms sell produce and desserts like fruit pies and jams. I would be willing to offer more suggestions and go over your plans for next year free of charge if you would like. I believe I can help return the fair back to its memorial state. read more

Below average CT ag fair, in a less than bucolic setting right off exit 12 of I 91. The fairgrounds are oddly laid out, and the offerings somewhat limited. They do manage to hit the minimum standard for farm displays, typical fair food, baking competitions and the like but the setting really does not fit and the layout does not flow well. There are a couple of decent food options but overall this is a fair that's apparently seen better days. read more

I am so upset with this place over the years. Growing up in NH I always attended the fair with my friends, and once I got older my family. I was upset to see the prices went skyhigh (last year it was $12.00 to get in per person) and I was lucky enough to have free passes, but still, what family can afford that? The inside is always clean and the bathrooms are nicely taken care of. The issue I have with the fair is it is not nearly the same as when I was a kid. I remember it being packed with vendors (not nearly that many now) and everything was affordable even given the fact that it was a fair. Forget this place if you have kids that want to go on rides. I do not recall the price, but wristband night is your best bet but even the wristbands are $24.00 per wristband. I wish this place could turn around and be like it was when I was a kid. I felt this was a small, low budget, tacky carnival. They had a small farm, crafts display area, lots of portable food stands and children's rides. There was nothing there I wanted to eat and we left after an hour, having been through twice to make sure we'd seen everything. This was a Saturday night and the parking lot was half empty, apparently the locals know better. I would not return here again. read more
