Extremely friendly employees that helped my husband find the medical books that he was looking for and my sons all found something that they wanted. I will probably go back to buy some calligraphy pens that I saw. I'm just an amazing vibe all around. They had some great deals on some books and other items I bought my husband some posts that said number one Dad on it. I love that there's a place for you to get coffee so that you can sit there and enjoy some coffee while shopping around.

While waiting in line at one of your locations, I heard the cashier tell my party and two other customers, "I'm sorry, we are out of pennies." The cashier then rounded the total down and retained the remaining two cents from our purchase. While I understand that two cents may seem insignificant, customers should not lose money--no matter how small the amount--without consent or compensation. Although there is currently a penny shortage, that does not justify a business retaining customers' money. If this practice occurs regularly, the amounts add up quickly. For example, retaining just $0.02 from 25 customers per day equals $182.50 per year at a single store. Across 721 Barnes & Noble locations, that totals over $131,000 annually. I understand operational challenges, but customers should not bear the cost. Clear policies, transparency, or alternatives--such as rounding in the customer's favor--would be more appropriate. I appreciate your time and hope you will review this practice.

I wandered around for hours, reading and enjoying some of the artwork in the small gallery while having a few cocktails. Service was okay and the bartenders were kind. The drinks they made were fine and some were very good, but one of the more memorable cocktails was the Manhattan Transfer, which was very strong and pleasant. I also liked The Hive. It was light, citrusy and just simple. My friends and I were surprised that everything was so reasonably priced that we ended up trying all the cocktails on the menu and a few local beers. We ended the night by picking up a few books to take back home :)

Prices are on the high side so plan accordingly but I feel the quality and uniqueness is worth it. If you see something, regret not getting it, you can either go back or order it to be shipped right to you. While I throughly enjoy a niche market, products and support the message of this shop, it definitely has very strong messaging that some might not like. However, that's what I love about Newport! No one is afraid to stand on their beliefs and open a store with those beliefs front and center. I am definitely going to enjoy this establishment again! Especially on a nice warm summer day. I cannot wait to buy a few more things. Only draw back is the store is small and if you have any type of mobility device like a scooter or wheelchair, you are not going to be able to maneuver around the store and handicapped parking is at quite a distance. This is an odd place…read more I read the other yelp reviews and thought that sometimes you find good deals and hidden gems at messy shops. So I thought I'd give this a try. I don't mind digging through old boxes. When I walked in I noticed what all the other reviews mentioned. There was trash throughout the store. Just straight littering inside the store. Looks like a place someone started building but never finished. There's a wall of NCBD and some boxes sprinkled throughout the store. I looked through them and it was all .50 cent type of books but with no prices on them. All filler books. Most boxes were just empty. I asked the guy working there if they had any bigger key issues and he said not usually, if anything big comes in they put it on eBay, not the store. Then why have a store? I didn't find anything worth buying even though I looked for a while. To be fair, the gentleman behind the counter was very nice. I just don't understand why he'd have a half empty store and the only part that is full has nothing but filler. He also had some regular books and DVDs. Altogether this felt more like a yard sale than a comic book shop. If you are looking for NCBD this is your spot though!
