Had purchased an Outdoor Unbelievable Bubble Sword that was not working as it should be. Tried returning it to the store for either a refund or store credit and was denied since it had been opened. They should not be selling items they don't stand by as these items are not cheap. I expected more from the store management as this is a small local store. read more

In the front of the facility, the store offers fun, diverse products so that families who come in can find some item that sparks the imagination on a variety of budgets, and you can feel good that most of the toys or kits serve the dual purpose of fun and learning. While we've been satisfied with most items we've purchased here and built/played with/deployed/launched, etc., one of the kits we purchased was something of a dud - I can't claim for certain if it was the product or user error, so I'll simply say it didn't have the desired super-fast, breakneck, soda-fizzing speed we were bargaining for. C'est la vie. My wife and I hosted a double birthday party for our guys here in March. Pow! pulled off the great feat of engaging 30+ 5-7 year olds for nearly two hours of fascinating, educational, interactive, inspiring, giggle-inducing, eye-widening fun...all with one well-informed and highly-capable individual at the helm. Her methods and patience were key, but luckily, the program structure lent itself to getting kids focused on the activities at hand so that they were learning while having fun. The time sped by for the kids and parents, and the attendees all left fulfilled and stocked with a healthy handful of science take-aways. I'd host something here again, and Pow! makes that a legitimate repeat possibility - there are multiple programs with myriad themes for kids of different ages. The activity room capably held the 30+ kids, many of their parents, their winter coats, gifts, tables for two birthday cakes, several side tables with interactive stations, and the activities themselves. read more

WoW is the best word for POW! We stopped by their other location as it was closing and a party was ending. After briefly browsing the amazing toy options determined we HAD to come back for birthday gifts! Let's just run down a few of the great aspects of the lovely POW! Options: Where do I start? There are highly rated games, puzzles, blocks, books, cards, rocks, lab kits, and more for a variety of ages. Service: The owners are fabulous, fun and knowledgeable to say the least. Not only did they show us a variety of options for kids, teens and adults. We were able to try a number of games and blocks. Service is a defining factor for just about every sector of retail these days and the exceed all expectations. Location: Easy to Park and right near Panera is you want to stop in for a snack. Price: On comparison, pretty comparable to online prices with the added benefit of personal service, the chance to inspect before purchase and immediate buyers gratification. read more

Science-y toys, yay! They have see-through anatomy kits, gravity and electricity experiment kits, lincoln logs - things that encourage creative thinking. In the back there is a big area for kids where I assume they do presentations and such, but when they're not - you can build with the lincoln logs, play with the little wooden trains, etc. I think I did that for about 20 minutes and it was pretty fun! Tolerant staff that will help you even though you're being annoying with a hand puppet. ;-) read more

Pow! Science for the win yet again today. I brought my children here to get some energy out, play in one of their many kid areas set up with sample toys, and to browse future gifts and purchases. My kids cannot get enough. They never want to leave. This store even has special days of the week activities like a roller coaster day and a lego day. They really go that extra mile to make a store so much more than that. They know how to make it an experience and keep the customers and children (and inner child in us all) wanting to return again and again. I constantly find myself browsing rows upon rows of toys and products seeing new innovative and creative spins on the common everyday ordinary toys. This store always impresses me with something new, something I've never seen before. Their new location two doors down within the Wakefield Mall is going to be even better, I can already tell just by witnessing some of the move and transition today. They really care about making their store unique, an experience, innovative, family focused, and bringing out the child and wonder within us all. Thank you for being there today, Pow! Science. I've had a long couple weeks and have had a hard time getting into the holiday spirit. I looked for a cool toy store online and ended p driving an hour each way to go here. It was worth every minute of the drive. The owner Hema was really cool, and her staff was exceptional. They chatted with me, we laughed, and the whole experience was made better because of it. The selection of toys, games, and science projects was excellent. They even gift wrapped my purchases for free! Seriously, this place reminded me why I love shopping for kids. Loved this store in Wayland Square, it has some of the most unique items! Toys that teach, toys that make noise, unusual and interesting. My 9 year old grandson had his birthday party there recently and everyone really enjoyed it. They have a large back room that has been decorated and filled with play stations and work tables. There were two "Professors" there for the party and they conducted an over an hour long experiment class. The 7 children sat around the tables and did various experiments, a hidden code, fingerprints and a "chemical" experiment. They really enjoyed themselves, also getting shot with the giant air gun as they screamed and ran around, a normal 9 year old party! The party giver supplies refreshments and paper goods, Pow! Science supplies the place for two hours, plus entertainment. Birthday boy got a discount on purchases, everything was handled very well, highly recommend it for a party place and a great place to shop for something different for you child or grandchild. read more

I normally have a tough time finding gifts that are worth it for my nephews, especially at places like Toys R Us. My oldest nephew started getting into electricity and snap circuits recently, so I was initially searching for a store that I could pick something up in person. I did end up getting the perfect snap circuit gift for him here that he ended up playing with for hours. BUT I came away with more gifts for others because the shop had much more variety than just science toys as I initially expected. There was really something for everyone here, including puzzles, stuffed animals, and baby toys. I ended up buying much more than I thought - a good thing because I got my holiday shopping done that much faster! I'm looking forward to coming here more in the future. read more

I booked my childs birthday party here and it was a terrible experience. When we walked in we weren't greeted or directed to the birthday room (despite having our hands full of birthday party stuff). The clerk ignored us, then, when I asked, he just pointed to the back. We set up our stuff, and stood there, waiting - he did nothing. Finally, I asked him where the science guy was and he said he was running late - stuck in traffic. He then suggested we do the birthday cake and pizza first. It was 10:30am. Finally, by 11, after standing around, trying to keep the kinds happy (and the parents were standing around too), he said that there was a mix up in the staff and that someone would be there soon (so initially he lied). By 11:30, the science guy showed up, and had to rush through his 45 minute presentation. It was embarrasing and annoying. I would NEVER go here again. Very dissapointed. read more

Stopped by this place to get my nephew a Christmas gift. No one said hi to us when we walked in and the owner was playing with a foam shooter. I'm all about having fun and didn't mind that but he did almost hit us and didn't even apologize. That's just the start. I don't know the mans name but he was horrendous. He was incredibly rude and condescending. He made a few jokes that were clearly not well received and didn't stop. I had a toy in hand to buy but because of his attitude, I put it away and left the store promptly. This place has been in and out of business since I was a little kid and this makes it clear why. How about helping your customers instead of insulting them? He treated my friends and I like we were kids. Well guess what! This kid has money to spend just like all other adults that come and go. My child's birthday party was a big success thanks to PowScience. And better yet, the children learned something. Kids from ages 4-11 gave full attention to the instructor for an hour of chemistry and exploding objects. The customer service was terrific. And a great value for the experience. Pow Science is by far the coolest toy store around, they had me at spirograph. The selection ranges from the newest toys to the old standbys that have withstood the test of time. BYERS BEWARE... Just got scammed by this powscience.com on line store. Ordered bunch of toys and received used, and damaged second hand items indie shipped box. When send emails the same day items were received to company with proof of pictures taken for damaged items, got nothing but a nasty reply with statements: "Pictures prove nothing, because for all we know you damaged the items yourself after receiving them. Don't bother sending any. "Never seen or heard anything like this from any on line stores before. Once again proves that one must do a business with reliable on line companies who have clear files with BBB or at least number of positive reviews. Any kind of crock can do this kind of business nowadays and easily rip of customers. Yeah, pictures proof nothing... definitely stay away from this crappy company or you will loose time, money and get second hand toys returned from stores sold as new on their website. read more
