Absolutely the worse food in Lindsay, blackbean sause chicken was just blackheads mushed no spices or flavor, not sause, the chowmein noodles was genetic store bought Ramen, the sauses all had been changed now tasting like a facsimile of what they were ment to taste like, lemon chicken was yellow no lemon, sweet and sour sause was sugar sause. Worse the staff filled take outs from the buffet table leaving no food for those in resturant, instead of making orders to go thry left nothing for those wanting to eat and were in no hurry to fill the counter. What was once OK Chinese is now a disgusting mess, worse the property was dirty, the bathrooms disgusting and don't look in the kitchen you will get sick judt seeing it. This was a tough review. First, I showed up 1:59, not knowing it was a buffet that closed at 2:30. The place had a couple take out orders and two people inside other than me listing to a local radio station of bad 80's music. Not much of an atmosphere. 3/4 of the buffet was empty has sat too long. I don't always have high expectations for a buffet but this was depressing. The wings were ok. There was nothing else that really stood out, aside from the amazingly bland wonton soup that didn't have flavour until I added hot sauce and pepper. You couldn't even taste pork in the wonton. Perhaps some or all of the good stuff had been consumed? Maybe it was fully reflective of everything else. It truly was a one star meal, but I'm giving it a two on the hope that maybe it's better fresh with more options. read more

Food was good. Although, we were told our kids would not be charged the full price for the all you can eat. Yet, we were charged full prices. We were returning customers. Might not be now due that. We didn't argue it. Nevertheless, if you say something do it!!! Wasn't impressed by the lady watching everyone going to get food as well. Not so friendly!!! read more

Placed a phone order , was told it would be ready in 30 minutes, 55 minutes later. Ordered a variety of items for 7 adults. All diners said it was the worst food they gave tasted in a long time. Would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This is good Canadian Chinese food. Nothing authentic on the menu which is disappointing but to be expected in small town Ontario. Had chicken in black bean sauce and shrimp with Chinese greens. Both served hot with generous portions. Also had jar doo wings and spring rolls and steamed rice. Took lots home. Very attentive staff who made a real effort to serve us. Will return. read more

Simply Horrible We ordered a take away meal on Christmas Eve. Our first tip off should have been that the food wasn't going to be ready for 2 1/2 hours. Despite this we went to pick up the food at the promised time. When we arrived there were 20 people ahead of us waiting to pickup their takeout orders. All of them promised a delivery time that was not met. The restaurant staff refused to talk to us or even acknowledge our presence or communicate with any of the other waiting customers. Customer service at its very worst - even by Lindsay standards. This place does not deserve to remain open - hope that it closes soon!!! read more

The food is just ok. The decor is dated. The worst part was the service. The Chinese lady at the cash was nice but the two white ladies had the personality of a wet noodle. I cannot leave a tip for such terrible service. The dessert is horrid. Hard jello molded as fish and the rest is definitely not made on site. Ordered take-out last night and was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. Arrived at 40 minutes and they said "we were waiting for you", so not sure how long it had been sitting there. Cash only, which was no problem as they told me that when I placed the order. Food was cold, egg rolls were dried out, and chicken balls were at least 75% batter, and hard as a rock. Beef and vegetables with almonds was primarily onion and green pepper chunks with a few slices of well cooked (boiled?) beef. Only good thing was the chicken fried rice and lemon chicken. This place is fucking awful! I don't know what that other reviewer was thinking giving it 4 stars, but the chinese food here is about as authentic as a green Jolly Rancher is to an apple. It's an imitation of imitation chinese food. First off, it's in Lindsay. If you've never been there; drive East on the 401 until you realize what you're doing, turn around and come home. It's not what you call a cultural mecca! I'm pretty sure the entire Asian population of Lindsay works at the Friendly Restaurant. My wife's parents live there, so I have an excuse for going. We walked in there on a Sunday afternoon and the inside of the restaurant reflected the streets of the town, empty with the exception of a few old people. There were 11 of us that were seated by a nice Lindsay native just after the manager scratched his head about what to do with us. I felt like we just fucked up his afternoon! The food was horrible. Manchu Wok at any food court is shit, and this easily surpasses Manchu Wok in the shit department. The soup was room temperature and gelatinous, the beef broccoli and the lemon chicken tasted exactly the same, and the ice cream had a layer of frost all over it! My sister-in-law had some trepidation eating there because she found a caterpillar in her sweet-and-sour pork the last time. The best part was, as we were leaving, the Asian men working in the back came out for lunch, and what they were eating was clearly not offered in the buffet! Whatever they were eating actually looked good! It looked authentic and fresh! Lindsay doesn't have a Chinatown, so if a restaurant calls itself, "Chinese" they'll go with it. I'm sure sushi and pho is thought of as chinese food there as well! Please don't write me saying, "Hey Mark, you're a fucking citiot! You Toronto folk think you're so much better than us with yer fancy restaurants and yer beautiful women, and yer cultural diversity, and yer doctors who want to be there, and yer teachers who like their jobs! Scram outta here then! Git! Can't you see we're busy putting testicles on our trucks?" If you want Chinese food, go to Dundas and Spadina. read more

We were part of a group of 20 or more people that arrived at dinner. It was the first time I have been there.The menu was typical Chinese fare but the quality was excellent. The buffet was large and the serving trays was small enough that they were refreshed constantly. The price was very good, the service was fast and there were no other issues. read more

I used to come to friendlies all the time as it was and still is the cheapest Chinese buffet in the area (there are 2 others you can try), but family like to go so we went here. At first, i had no problem with it until i took just my gf and myself there. They made me pay up front along with my girlfriend with a fixed tip. Now that wouldn't have been a problem if me and my gf were homeless looking or something else but we were wearing normal street close. To top it off, everyone else was allowed to pay at the end of there meals. i asked the waiter why they did this and she just told me, "thats wierd" and left. I have nothing against the owners or waiters as i have come here with family many times before without being singled out. It made me and my gf feel exceptionally uncomfortable. I have not gone back since as the other restaurants usually have more/better selection and dont single there customers out. Its a restaurant i want to like but don't. Maybe they will change in the future but as of now they are definitely on my no go list. Very unfortunate. read more

Delivery arrived 2 1/2 hours late and was missing food we were billed for. We spent 15 minutes on hold on their first line and eventually got through to talk to someone on the second line. Their employee said the manager wouldn't speak to us and they refused to deliver the missing food, but offered us 20% off our next order. Unacceptable since the missing food was for a special diet and the rest of the food wouldn't feed everyone. We said either deliver the food or give our money back. They decided to send a driver back with our money! And asked for the food back. This was about 30 - 45 minutes after we had originally gotten it - it had been eaten, cold as it was. We later got a call from not so Friendly's with an employee swearing at us for eating the food and threatening to call the police on us. What kind of customer service is this? They are on our blacklist and we will never give them business again. Also they don't take debit or credit - which seems very shady. read more

Plain and simple! If you want service, Do Not come here!!!!! The people in this restaurant are so ignorant it is unbelievable!!! I witnessed a man in his seventies requesting some slices of lemon one day. The waitress had the audacity to tell the man to go up to the buffet and get the lemon slices on his own. He wasn't sure if he heard her properly. He waited a few minutes and she came back. He asked for the lemon slices again and she said to him as I said the lemon slices are on the buffet you can help yourself if you like. I was so angry I was just about to go and get the lemon for the man myself but he got up before I did and went and picked them up himself from the buffet. She was such a b****!!! The problem is that all the people who work here are not friendly at all and I will never ever go back to this place again!!!!! Good luck to you if you do!!!
