My wife measures her water intake so she brings a large Stanley with water to restaurants with her. We walked in and were told she'd have to leave it at the door. She tried to explain and asked if they can give her a large cup to pour it into, they said no they have water available. Now at that point I decided rather than argue we'd go somewhere else. I can only assume it was the owner that shouted over from behind the counter, great job, thanks for doing your job. That comment was uncalled for and rude. I've been to this establishment when the previous owner was there and it was great, I will never darken their doorstep again. We made a reservation for a large group of us over the holidays. They had a table ready for us, and another group was already there. They were clear we needed to have our orders in by 2pm before the kitchen closed (which we did). There was only one server for the whole place, service was slow and they did not come check on us after our meals were brought to the table. It probably took 35 mins for any food to come which makes me think that both the front and the back were understaffed. I ordered the Big Bob fish and chips. The server upsold me to get gravy. When the meal came to the table she had forgotten the gravy and tartar sauce. I went over and had to ask for it and they seemed annoyed. The food was pretty mediocre, fish was over cooked, the fries were fine but nothing special. The tartar sauce was in little square packages and was not good at all. This is a big place with a lot of potential but at the end of the day it's sadly a pretty basic low budget diner *shrug*. The upside is that the food is really affordable. They seemed mad that we were there after closing which I understand, it's the holidays, but if the food service wasn't so slow we wouldn't have stayed so long. Been wanting to hit this spot up for the longest time but due to their hours and when I make it up, I could never make it happen until now. It's not your average diner, they go out of there way to give items that little umph. The smoked chicken sandwich is great but the burgers even better. Been to St. Dave's twice now for the long weekend all you can eat brunch specials. Absolutely loved it here. My favourites are the ribs, pulled pork, fried pickles, and Mac and cheese. Ribs are meaty, sweet, and fall of the bone. Pulled pork is nice and tender, juicy, and sweet. Fried pickles have the right amount of breading, are juicy, and aren't too sour. Mac and cheese is perfect. Soft, cheesy, delicious. I like to dab on some cholula hot sauce. Beans are nice too. read more

My daughter and I stopped for lunch today. All homemade....we c.hose to share the chicken pot pie which came with choices...we took fries and coleslaw. Delicious..coffee was fresh and flavourful. Too full for desert , so took a couple of butter tarts with us. Will definitely be back! read more

Waitress didn't know the menu or if fries were included in the meal when the menu clearly stated they were Sadly just a terrible experience. Restaurant is dated, dirty, old and gross. Male waitress is loud and obnoxious, which makes the environment even worse than the gaps in the floor where I am sure snow can come through. Honestly one of the worst places I have stepped foot in. If you do venture in have a look at the art, likely will get a good chuckle out of it. Wow I can't even tell you if this place is good for food or not however we sat down for a late breakfast. While we waited for our coffee and water we had a call in which we had company at our home and we had to go. We had only ordered coffee so we decided to take that to go. We went to the front entrance to get our coffee that the waitress out out for us to make and then we would pour into a to go cup. She gave us a couple milks and a bowl beside with sugar and cream. My husband took 1 creamer from the bowl and the skinny middle aged waiter started freaking out that we are not allowed to touch anything and he now has to throw everything out. We said we just took 1 creamer from the bowl and he came over while telling the waitress who helped us that we can't touch anything and he promptly threw out the entire bowl of cream/milk while telling us that's how covid spreads. He was extremely over dramatic and wasted product while acting like a dork. We left...and we will never go back there again and will be sure to tell everyone of his rudeness. Went here for breakfast last weekend and was very satisfied with the food as well as the menu choices. I would say it's a diner breakfast with a twist. They have a huge menu with brunch items I haven't seen at other breakfast diners. The staff was very friendly and everything tasted homemade. If I lived closer I would come here every weekend. We eat out here more than anywhere else, I think. Always a great meal and the service is always excellent. I never see the bottom of my coffee cup! Be sure to check out the daily specials board, which also shows the soups of the day. We were there last week and I had a salad with shrimp, bacon, strawberries, greens, and strawberry dressing. If you are a breakfast person... Go here!! I've been at this place a lot of times.. Back in high school sometimes me and my girlfriend or my buddies would skip class to go eat here in the morning. I haven't tried anything because I'd always order pea-meal, eggs over easy, with home fries.. And honestly, it's so good I don't want to try anything else! Servers work their but off to make sure you get what you want how you want it! Great place. The food is all very tasty, and comes in sizeable portions & the peameal is especially good here. There are different specials every week, so you will be surprised every time you go. The only thing to watch out for is on weekends it gets quite busy and there may be a line to get a seat.
