For overpriced services the business lacks proper customer service. I showed a picture of the nails I wanted to replicate and nicely stated that If that's not possible I'd be happy to keep it simple with a different design; however, I was promised that the picture I showed could be done. In the end my nails had a silver shine as opposed to the rose gold color in the picture I showed. When finished I nicely asked if the nails could be redone. I was told they could, but they would charge me additional to take them of and and an additional cost to redo them. I feel like the least they could do is take them off with no charge as a curtesy. read more

Highly recommend coming to this salon to see Danny. Take a look at his instagram: @NailsByDanny and you'll see why! I've been coming to this salon since I was a little kid because i used to live in Kailua. I've been a loyal customer to Danny since I was 18- and i'm 22 now! He's just the best! He's the most talented nail artist on this island (in my opinion) and he's so sweet! He gives the best service and makes sure that you leave satisfied. He also works fast! Designs that would probably take other nail techs 5 mins would probably take him half the time or less... Book him! You won't regret it!!! The other nail techs here are very nice too and also do great work. The pedicures here are affordable and sooo nice. This is seriously my go-to salon! And after you visit, it'll become yours too! Seriously.... i make the effort to drive out to Kailua JUST for Danny (and i come from as far as Waipio). He's that awesome! Went here just yesterday, so i'll post a pic of the recent nails :) read more

One of the fastest pedicures I've ever had. I came here because I had a gift certificate to use. I got a regular pedicure. When I got there, the place was pretty full with customers getting their nails done. As soon as I walked in, one of the women asked how may I help you, I told her I had a 4pm appt. and she told me to sit down at the manicure table with another worker who was open. I told her no, it's for a regular pedicure. I proceeded to pick my color, another worker asked if I wanted gel color. I told her no, just regular. As soon as I sat in my chair, the women working on my feet, got right to it. I didn't even have time to relax and soak my feet in the tub. As she proceeded to do my nails she asked if I wanted to do my hands too, I told her no, just my feet. Later into my pedicure another women walked by and asked if I wanted to do my hands again. I told her no. I felt like this was a rushed pedicure and they were only pushing to get more services out of me. There were 10 workers and out of the 10, 5 of them were just sitting around in their phones. When i was finished, the worker told me the total and I gave her my gift certificate, she came back and told me I am good to go. She didn't even help me off the chair, or put the chair arm up for me, like how they usually do at my regular salon that I go to in waimanalo. I mean help a pregnant women out. There went her tip out the door. I must say, I will not be back to this salon ever again. I'm glad it was a gift certificate I used and not my own money. Nothing about this salon was relaxing. read more

This place is a joke. The owner thinks he is the shit. He is a great nail artist but if you have bad attitude , poor customer service and zero integrity then you don't have anything. I started writing a review which is turning into a long waste of my time. So many things went wrong with our nail experience on 2 separate occasions. My full set of filled nails were all broken within days. I have never to this day been reimbursed or corrected for this nail mess even though I was told i would be. All was good initially and we made an appt. for the repair for my nails and a fill for my daughter. unfortunately the day of our appt my poor daughter came down with terrible stomach virus. So we had to cancel. A few days later I was reaching out to danny to reschedule this redo and fill now that daughter was well. At this point I was completed ghosted. danny didn't reply to any of my calls for 2 weeks. This was very poor customer service and a slap in the face. Since Danny the owner never replied to my repeated calls we had another gentlemen at the shop Andy fill my daughters nails. he was incompetent with nail design, paint and gems. Shape length and design was not ok and bubbles in the paint. Along with that the gal that I asked to take off my nails since Danny never got back to me to redo/fix them/reimburse me was ripping off my acrylic and made me bleed. It was all super weird bc while there Danny never even acknowledged me and or made any attempt to not charge me for the girl removing the acrylic on my nails that he was supposed to fix. So I ended up paying $35 for that service. After that we left so unsatisfied and still wanting danny to redo my nails and now fix my daughters botched job because I was certain he was a good man and wanted to not represent his business this way. when I txt danny to ask him to touch up my daughters nails that Andy ruined he said no and that Andy can do that. And the reason he is refusing business to me and my daughter is because I canceled on him. Again I will say I had to cancel one appt regretfully when my poor 13 year old daughter had the stomach flu. So basically I still haven't been reimbursed/repaired by this shop for my broken set and have been refused service by Danny the owner bc I had to cancel an appt due to my child being ill. Long story tried to shorten.. If you care about choosing a business that does the right thing and has Integrity and good customer service then this shop is NOT for you. read more

$68 for a gel pedicure! I couldn't believe it. Plus the $12 tip. Still have cracks on my heels. I don't know if it's cause it's in Kailua or Covid times. Very disappointed and it's my birthday. The leg massage was nice but too expensive for me. read more

I love Danny that does my manicure. He makes great conversation and does amazing work but I'm gonna be honest the cuticle tools there give my anxiety. The salon really needs to be put in their place about cleaning their tools. Regardless I love the old lady named Kim that did my pedicure. She was absolutely so sweet and gave amazing costumer service. Definitely better then all the women that just sit around outside on their phones. She reminded of me of my two grandmas. My mom and I come here all the time and they usually do a fair job. However, today when we went in for pedicures, my mom was not pleased with her experience due to her pedicurist's negligence. The shop was crowded, so I began my deluxe pedicure well before my mom since only one seat was open. The older women who took my mom about 5 minutes later rushed the cleaning process and massaging and slapped some rhinestones on in terrible form. The rhinestones weren't even in a straight line like they were supposed to be. Even though I had started mine 5 minutes before my mom, she finished a good 10 minutes before I had. Definitely just trying to rush their customers through and not making an effort to do a decent job. read more

I have been coming to Friendly Nails for 2yrs. I have always had an amazing experience. Danny does my nails. He is not just a nail tech, but an artist. He is kind and very accommodating! My girlfriend and I were walk-ins. We planned to go matching on our nails: full set French tip manicure with one nail gold design + red pedicure. Lisa worked on my nails at first but wasn't doing a good job and cut my nails too short, i said "ouch" a few times. So Danny took over, but I had to wait a long while until he was finished with a client. Then my bestie and I were encouraged to do gold crystals instead of design. Danny did my girlfriend's nails too. Amy did our pedicure and she did a great job. Then we also did eyebrow waxing. Not bad too. A bit pricey but would go back ($131 each - nails only). read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went yesterday with my husband. He wanted to treat me to a pedicure and he got one as well. He got the basic and I got the deluxe which i was told to be $40. In the end, we got charged $98!!! How was my pedicure $40 and his over $50???? My husband paid for it and we left. He didn't argue since the lady who charged didn't seem to speak English very well. He also couldn't understand her. Don't go there unless you want to get grossly overcharged. Never will return. read more

The last time I went to get my nails done by Danny I paid $60, that was probably a year ago, and this time I went I was pretty satisfied with my nails but it felt really rushed AND after he was finished I was charged $94 for a manicure from Danny, which is a rip off if you ask me. No one told me the price I had to pay before we started so I was caught off guard with the price. I don't think I'll be going back there... read more

I walked in no appointment yesterday and was able to do a deluxe pedi and gel mani no wait, which was great. Zen helped me and let me tell you, she is the real deal y'all!! Super sweet! When I first made an appointment I made it with Danny because a friend had recommended him to me. I came in and was waiting for a bit which I didn't mind at all because I came in pretty early before my appointment. I was taken by another woman who began helping me and I figured she was just going to prep me while Danny finished another customer, but a woman who came in after me was taken by Danny first and the woman finished my nails. The woman who did my nails was Kiana, who is the reason I'm giving a good rating. She's done my nails twice now and I've loved them both times. My nails never feel or look chunky and both times I've given her reference pictures and she's gotten it spot on. I love going to her and highly recommend her. She's a wonderful nail technician. read more

Worst place to get your nails done, my acrylic never lasts more than a few days and gel pedicure always chips

I don't get my nails done often, but decided to stop by. It's a smaller venue and can feel crowded once a couple customers come in. However, on the upside they were able to take me in right away without having an appointment. The establishment itself has very poor ventilation. Being that it's a nail salon, I expected it to have somewhat of an odor, but was taken aback by the strong smell. The place is pretty pricey as well, so be prepared to pay top dollar for their services. I thought the actual product/service was okay, but not for the prices that they charge. Customer service was a 3/10. At the end, I was shocked to find out my total. That may be my fault for not doing the proper research ahead of time. In short, I probably won't be returning in the future to get my nails done. read more

I haven't been back to Friendly Nails, but I did get a reach out from the owner, Danny, who seemed concerned with my experience, and wanted to correct the issue and make my next experience with his business better. I haven't taken him up on it, but I feel that it says something when the owner does that. To me it means he takes pride in his business and not just making $$. Props Danny! I'm guessing what happened, in my case, is similar to that adage "when the cat's away, the mice will play" and since I didn't see Danny there when I was in, that must have meant that his workers were being lazy and effing off. Not his fault, but they could use a finger wag. ;-) So, because of my one bad experience, that does not mean that you might have the best toe job of your life. The other reviews seem to disagree with my experience anyways. read more

I was recently came here bright and early on a Saturday. There was only one person already there getting there nails done and the rest of the staff were huddled in a corner laughing and talking when I walked in. I asked for a pedicure and full set but for some reason no one heard me. I wonder why! They let me just stand there in the middle of the store before telling me where I could sit because they have no chairs for waiting customers. Finally they set me in my chair to do my toes. No one spoke word to me the whole entire time I we there. Didn't even crack a smile to me. Oh yea, they did tell me to pick my color and that is it. Smh They lady who did my toes did an ok job but I wasn't very pleased at all. She gets ready to send me on my way when I ask her "what about my full set" she then tells me they don't have time. I was furious!!! I was the only person pretty much in the shop and now she telling me that everyone has to get their nails done first and they don't have time for me. This place is so unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend anyone go here if they want good service and to be treated with respect. I can't believe I had to go to two nails shops in one day. It's already hard for me with my work schedule. Never again will I go there. Plz think twice before going to this place. read more

I will update this review after another visit to Danny to ensure he gets his five stars where they are due. 4 stars for now because of some minor issues. Danny did my nails for my wedding. I had gel nails done with designs on each finger. I had never had this done. I have only done 3d designs on my nails (myself) but never at a shop. Some of the jewels and pearls fell off before the wedding and I had to go buy more and match them to try to glue them back on. My gel polish started to peel on some nails. With that said, people went CRAZY for my nails! They loved the designs so much! Danny did a subtle design for each nail and heavily accented my ring finger with crystals, pearls and glitter. He worked very fast! And was able to take me at the last minute. Danny was my first nail shop experience on the island. I took my groom with me to get a manicure and pedicure for the wedding and he enjoyed it! My only concern was the expense. I'm from DC so I am used to expensive but it was a hefty cost! I will say that I didn't like that my groom's manicure and pedicure cost the same as mine. There was no polish added to his nails. At the end for both of us it was over $100 and Danny hadn't included the design costs. Over the phone, I had mentioned cost with Danny and he assured me he would make it affordable. My groom treated me to nails and Danny had asked us to pay him for the design whatever price we wanted. Not knowing the cost of 3d nail designs, my groom gave him what he thought the tip should be. Danny seemed a little disappointed but said the price was fair. After leaving the shop, I asked my groom what he had tipped and he said $20. I didn't think that was too bad but I couldn't shake the look on Danny's face and the way he said it was "fair". I feel like I owe him more. I will work this out with him next time because I love his work! However, I wasn't expecting the high costs since I asked for affordable. My husband is on a military salary and I have not found work yet and we were scrounging to pay for the rest of our wedding expenses. I'll be back with another try! read more

Junk! I made an appointment to come in for a gel mani, and Danny had an incompetant pedicurist do my mani - it was HORRIBLE!! Rose chopped off my nails, hella uneven and scratched them up with her file!! WTF??? Sandy has never done that to my nails before!! Then Kim came over to 'fix' what Rose messed up - she couldn't do a fade so I picked a base color and a glittery top coat. Danny INSISTED on her designing my nails so he could charge me hella money for shitty work!! The next day ALL the glitter fell off!! I went in and he said he couldn't fix it!! DANNY SUCKS as a business "professional". Utter JUNK!! read more

My favorite place to get my nails done! Danny is amazing & ive been seeing him for my nails for almost 2 years now. He is amazing at his nail art, he's a very creative artist &finds different ways to do his designs. He is also on point with what I want done even if I dont give him specific directions. I dont understand why people are saying his prices are high, if its too exspensive then just don't get your nails done or do them yourself. The staff is also very "friendly". When I get my toes done they give me the best foot rubs & do my toes very nicely. The place is also very neat & clean. They should expand though because the place is a little cramped. read more

I got a gel fill and a petty, with all of my artwork on my hands and toes the price was $94 I don't know if this is the average price in Hawaii, in comparison to my California price I think it's about right. Walked in yesterday without an appointment and it was pretty busy, I told them I only had an hour for a gel mani and pedi. They took me in anyway and had me seated almost immediately. They started on people who came in after me but had appointments, which is fair.. But they somehow manage to still get done within 45 minutes! Other than a couple bubbles on my nails, the two nail techs I had did a really nice job (my main indicator is the edges at the cuticles and this is probably the best I've had yet). A little bit pricey compared to what I've gotten used to in California, but would def come back! P.S. CASH ONLY for tip! read more

Cash only for tips! Went here with friends a couple weeks ago and wish I had gone with my instincts and returned for the mani/pedi I recently got elsewhere. My gel nails looked great for weeks. The main reason I wanted to get it redone was just cause my nails were getting longer than I like them to be. I only have a few complaints: 1) I wish they had warned me that gel damages your nails when you have it taken (or should I say roughly scraped) off. I read somewhere that with Gelish you "soak off, revealing healthy, beautiful nails"... total B.S. But I suppose it's their job to give you what you ask for, not warn you about it. I would still get gel done when I need it to last long, but I definitely wouldn't make a regular thing out of it or I'd end up with paper thin nails. 2) This is one of those places where "callous removal" consists of rubbing your feet with that rough sponge thing, NOT the cheese grater thing that actually gets the job done. There's something sad about spending over $90 on a mani/pedi and still having dry looking rough skin on your feet. 3) The cash only tip thing. Luckily I happened to have some cash on me, but in my opinion this policy is unprofessional and inconvenient. I witnessed more than one customer have to go find an ATM and come back with cash. I was surprised they actually came back, as they were both clearly irritated and about having to do that. Despite these complaints this place is sadly the best nail place I've found recently in Hawaii, so by comparison it seems fair to give them 4 stars. I swear the quality of nail salons has gone WAY down since I first started having mine done as a teenager. You used to be able to walk in anywhere and get a really decent if not great mani/pedi. read more
