Highly recommend Theodore! We recently were gifted an…read moreantique C. Bechstein upright piano and we decided to call Theodore to come tune & repair it. Theodore was super polite, informative and upfront throughout the whole process. He walked us through all the different issues our piano had due to the age and gave us a couple different routes to go to repair our piano. I really appreciated his advice and transparency before proceeding with the agreed upon work. Will say his prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of work and expertise he has. He took the necessary time and care to bring the piano back to a playable standard. We were very impressed and super happy with how it played and sounded after. For a 100+ year old piano, we couldn't be happier with how well his repairs and tuning went. Also super appreciated the piano history and education he went into on the side when working on the piano. We will definitely be calling Theodore back to help maintain our piano going forward! Thanks so much again Theodore!

If you are a serious musician, I do not recommend James…read more He quoted me $300 for a tuning, well above the roughly $180 local market rate I had been seeing. Given the neighborhood and the piano, the pricing felt opportunistic. I specifically requested a well temperament. He was unable to do it and did not appear familiar with the temperament systems I was referring to, so no tuning was performed. I literally sent him home with an article on temperament tuning to read. I also asked him to investigate a buzz. He removed the action, found nothing, and was unable to diagnose the problem. He then tried to charge me $200 for simply removing and reinstalling the action. We eventually settled on $120 for the 45 minutes he spent at my house. So, to summarize: no tuning, no diagnosis, and a $200 attempted charge for pulling an action. For someone with a serious instrument or specific musical requirements, I would look elsewhere.
