I am truly unhappy and very disappointed to say the least! I trusted David Hong with repairing my…read morepiano and this is the end result. I should have went with my gut feeling when he did not show me any proof of previous work on repairs that he's done. There are tons of black spray paint specs all over my keys. The repair was NOT sanded smoothly prior to paint as you can see in my photos. The top part is still a dent but painted over. This is not results of a professional. I will have to find someone else to clean up his mess! I would not recommend him to anyone and surprised at the review he has.

In addition to a poor repair, the inspection process was not thorough. After showing the piano to…read moreanother technician, he played the piano and immediately mentioned that the feel of the keys were off. He pointed out the bridle straps (cords) are all broken. We paid David $150 to inspect this preowned piano prior to purchase, as I have no knowledge on piano inspections. To my dismay, he didn't even catch this. Had he told us this, we could have used this information to negotiate the price of the piano down. Knowledge is power. He also charged a $115 tuning fee, tested the piano and didn't notice that the keys felt off and that the cords were all broken. For someone with so much experience and had two opportunities to inspect this piano, David didn't even tell us about the broken cords. The technician we hired mentioned this the first time he looked at the piano. He also noticed the pitch was off. This technician also pointed out that the serial number didn't look authentic to the issue date. The piano was manufactured at an older date than what was presented. The Yamaha logo in the front is a decal. None of this was mentioned during the $150 inspection. For a piano expert, we are surprised none of this was communicated. Complete fail on attention to detail.

Summary - I am a business executive living in Newport Beach…read morewith my wife and children. I manage a $70 million dollar Southern California business, where i have worked for over 12 years. I just paid $320 (triple the usual price) for Leo from "Orange County Piano Repair/Restoration" to tune my 3 year old, high-end Yamaha Upright Piano (which my usual tuner has tuned for me 4 or 5 times prior with no issues), and now my piano is not only still significantly out of tune, but several keys now also rattle and click, and "Orange County Piano Repair/Restoration" (Leo) refuses to make any corrections. Details - I needed my piano tuned prior to Thanksgiving day when extended family and friends would be visiting, but my normal tuner was unavailable, so I found Leo at "Orange County Piano Repair/Restoration" and arranged for him to come tune our piano for $120. I was out of town on business but my wife and children were home when Leo shows up late in the evening to tune the piano. Without even learning that our Yamaha piano is only 3 years old and in great condition, Leo proceeds to tell my wife that we need $300-$600 worth of work so my wife agrees to the $320 fee assuming we will get some premium result. Leo takes over 3 hours (when our usual tuner only requires 1 hour) and by the time he finishes my youngest daughter is crying because it is way past her bedtime. Leo asks my wife to take the time at that late hour to inspect his work, but my wife tells him we will have to do it the next day due to the late hour. The next day my wife and my 13 year old son, who is an accomplished student at a piano conservatory, find that not only are numerous keys still far out of tune, but several others now rattle and click. My wife calls Leo back the next day and asks him when he can come fix the problems he left and created. Leo explains that he cannot return until over 1 week later on Thanksgiving day. We figure we have to get the work done prior to family arriving Thanksgiving afternoon, so we agree to have Leo come back out early on Thanksgiving morning. When Leo does not show up at the scheduled time, my wife calls him and Leo argues with my wife and explains that it will cost us another $220 to have him come back out to fix the problems that he left and created. Leo is very rude to my wife, so I personally call back 20 min later when i get home and explain that Leo either needs to a) refund our money, or b) come fix the problems for no fee. Leo irrationally rambles on about his vast credentials including the work he does for Disney and UC Irvine, but he rudely refuses to acknowledge the basic problems he left and created on my piano, and he tells me that my wife forfeited our chance to inspect his work. I do not understand how someone like this with zero business and customer service sense can stay in business in this economy. Do NOT use this service or you will regret it on many levels. I am considering legal action and will certainly report Leo and Orange County Piano Repair/Restoration to the Better Business Bureau. Beyond Bad.

I just read the above review and can't agree more…read more I had a similar experience where Leo was over an hour and 20 mins late. When I finally contacted him asking where he was, he responded with "what's your address again"? I stated it was in the numerous emails and texts confirming our appointment. He then said he was just leaving work but was also 5 minutes away. I couldn't wait for his arrival as he was already almost 1.5 hours late. I canceled the job and he responded with extremely rude and unprofessional texts. I didn't respond and am thankful I didn't use him considering his attitude and lateness. I'd find another piano tuner.
