Not completely…read moresatisfied with other dentists' results in the interim, we scheduled an appointment at River District Dentistry after reading about the clinic online. One of the big draws for us was that they use the latest technology for their dental work, which was detailed on their website. I'm happy to say our search is over as we were very impressed with the new patient overview and initial teeth cleaning. The entire staff was welcoming and made us feel right at home. Jesse and Amanda are two of the friendliest receptionists I've ever met! Niki was super nice and very patient as she guided us through the introductory process (consisting of panoramic + standard angle X-rays, full dental photos, questionnaire & dental review with the doctor). Victor and Shannon, our hygienists that day, were extremely thorough during the cleaning process and never made us feel rushed. There are two doctors at this clinic; we met with Dr. Biddle during our first visit. I immediately appreciated Dr. Biddle's method of presentation as he was going through the review of the new patient questionnaire and dental images. He took the time to really listen to my concerns and never seemed pushy with any procedure he mentioned. After presenting all the facts, he gave his opinion in a non-forceful manner, then truly left it up to me to decide if I wanted any procedure. I say "truly" because even though any dentist will need to abide by the patient's choices in the end, their method of "recommendation" can vary greatly. My regular dentists at the previous clinic were extremely pushy about getting all sorts of dental procedures done. This urgency made it seem like my teeth were about to fall apart, which was odd because overall I felt they were relatively healthy with some minor issues. I didn't appreciate this insistency of dental procedures at the previous clinic as it made their recommendations appear to be money grabs from insurance (I'm not sure if this was the real reason, but it sure came across like that). Dr. Biddle was nothing like this at all and gave us really good vibes right from the beginning. As suspected, the overall health of my teeth was confirmed; I just needed to keep an eye out for a few problem areas. The clinic itself was warm and welcoming. Even though they've been in business three years already, the place looked brand new and sparkling clean... a great reassurance when allowing someone to probe your teeth and gums with publicly-shared instruments! We will definitely be long-term patients here and are extremely thankful to the staff for providing such a great experience at, who would have thought, the dentist!

Brand new dentist in the River District area. With a new office comes fancy new equipment and tech and young staff. Really great reception team. Always friendly and welcoming. The medical staff are also very friendly but they're all very young and with that comes lack of experience. It's not a bad thing but they haven't caught anything my old dentist would have caught (or scolded me) on. They are very efficient so I'll continue to come here. My root-canal appointment had to be cancelled a few times, as I waiting for the Canadian Dental Care Plan Card Enrollment to be evaluated and for the Card to arrive by mail. Sydney, the receptionist was extremely helpful by reassuring me that I was able to reschedule without issues. Dr. Ros was extremely professional and my root-canal was not painful.

Dr. Mah was close by and so was First Impression. Didn't end up booking with Dr. Mah as they charge for a consult whereas First Impression is free! Yah.... I'm cheap (or should I say wise with my money)! But really, waive the $75, spend an hour of your time and show people your work and you are highly likely to land a $6-8k client! Booked an appointment with First Impression. When you walk into the office you are impressed at how new, clean and bright it is! The office is also lined by gorgeous photos...all taken by Dr. Luu himself! The kids are impressed there is an electronics area with various electronic devices. There is free wifi, a station for coffee and hot chocolate. I even laughed as they recently added a card stand with lots of different handmade cards (all really nice and professional looking may I add) all made by Dr. Luu's wife. It's a one stop shop! Anyhow, back to the review.... The staff are all super nice, friendly, knowledgable and service oriented. I'd have to rate it in the top 5% for service I have ever encountered, it's just that good! Our paediatric dentist's practice is partnered with an orthodontic arm so she doesn't necessarily deal with a lot of outside orthodontists. But she has mentioned to me that she is really impressed by Dr. Luu as he has sent her a few detailed letters (copy was sent to me too) telling her that it would be a good idea to bring my daughter in for a cleaning because her oral hygiene was not up to standards. The first times was maybe 4-5 months into the treatment and another time was a few months after that. After the second letter I showed my daughter the letter and told her she needed to step it up!!!! Glad to report she finally got that she needed to do a better job! I love that they switched over to an electronic appointment reminder so I get an email a week before my daughter's appointment. You confirm on the email that you can make the appointment. if you can't you just email them or call them to change. It's very efficient! It's easy to get/change an appointment since they are open wed-sat for the most part (sometimes the days change as he has an office in Whitehorse that he visits a few times a month). If I have to add a con to my review because not everything can be 100% perfect. I have had my daughter tell me she needed more elastics or a wire was bugging her AFTER the office closes on Sat, so you do have to wait until Wed which can be inconvenient, but nothing to move it below a 5 star review as hey, medical professionals need some family time too! Oh and btw, I did book one other consult with a highly rated place in Vancouver just to get a second quote. Walked in and it was an old drabby office. The orthodontist and staff weren't nearly as friendly/personable and their quote was over $1000 more than First Impression. So of course I walked out and ended up booking with First Impression.... and I'm glad I did! Anytime anyone is looking for an orthodontist in Burnaby, of course I have to refer Dr. Luu and his awesome staff! The office decor is very cool with a upmarket studio feel. The staff are very customer service centered, polite and professional. They even have great WIFI and tablets to while away the time if needed. The explanation for the braces, to correct my daughter's teeth, was thorough and not full of technical jargon. The kicker was when we got to the finances. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for a 20 month program. The past weekend I had a massive toothache so I contacted them on a Saturday and they got back to the same day and gave me an appointment for that Monday. When I went in for the check up, they said I needed an emergency root canal and got me in the very next day at another clinic. The MOA called around 4-5 dental centres trying to get me in, really appreciated her efforts. Best part, they direct bill to your insurance company which saves you a lot of the time!
