Andrew Schroeder. I turned the card over, expecting something on the blank side. Nothing. A simple card, a classy card. Old fashioned like a family doctor in a small town. I flipped open my scratched up grey Motorola cell phone, cupping my mouth in case anyone was listening (at this point I didn't trust anyone inside the hospital). Ring ring ring. "Doctor's office." A pleasant voice. A reassuring voice. "I'd like to make an appointment with...Dr. Schroeder." "Are you a new patient?" The pleasant voice on the other side of the line didn't recognize me. "Um, yes..." I wasn't sure how to introduce myself. The sounds of footsteps down the hospital corridor made me jumpy. I didn't want anyone knowing what I was doing. "How about...October 17th at 11am. Does that work for you?" October 17th?? I'll be dead by then. "Today, it has to be today." A pause. The pleasant voice was a little confused. "Today? Does he know you're calling?" Kinda of, sort of...no. "It's important. Really really important. I'm kind of in a bad situation and it's urgent. He knows it's bad." "Okay...um..." I could feel her compassion seeping through the phone wires. She clicked a few things. "I can squeeze you in for a few minutes at 3pm. Would that work for you?" I looked at the clock, it was 9:35am. That was plenty of time to get out of the hospital and get to the office. "Yes, it's perfect, I'll take it, thank you." "And your name?" "Tara Kittle." "I'll see you this afternoon Tara." Click. I dropped the phone into my lap, and reached for the nurse call button next to my hospital bed. Click Click Click. The familiar slightly annoying and mechanical voice crackled my room. "How can I help you." I was long past tired of them as they were of me. "I'm leaving. Now. I don't know what it is that you need to do, but I'm leaving the hospital today." "Excuse me?" I sat up a little stronger. "I'm leaving today. I have a doctor's appointment. I have to leave today." "Let me get your nurse for you." Click. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed. The room tilted, barely had the strength to sit up, let alone stand. I prayed for the strength I didn't have. And with that, I stood up, shaking in my hospital robe. He tried to charge me $300.00 for a flu shot. EKG's and echocardiograms when my cardiologist is the head of the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Institute, Noel Bairey Merz. Why? MONEY!!! He played me like a violin acting concerned like a pseudo-uncle knowing full well my blood work was awful and I was bleeding internally. Complaints about my back pain ignored. I eventually went to a slew of doctors had a battery of tests, including a transfusion which was 6 hours of iron as my hemoglobin was 6 and a capsule endoscopy and a regular under general anesthesia endoscopy to find the source of the bleeding internally and wound up having hiatal hernia surgery. Seigler did nothing, no referrals to a gastroenterologist or a hematologist, He just had me coming back a minimum of once a month doing unnecessary tests to build up bills for conditions I didn't have. I foolishly trusted him as he comes off as an endearing sort but soon learned how ill I really was after I fired him last October of 2016 and started finding out the truth late February of 2017 and had to have major surgery in June. The guy is 80. Be guided accordingly. A horrible disappointment and I have been damaged emotionally, psychologically and physically because of his lack of care for my real medical issues. He also doesn't use a computer and is not on the Cedars website, but that pales in comparison to the damage I endured under his care and I bought him beautiful gifts when I thought he was a good doctor. How wrong I was. Read your lab tests carefully and learn from my mistakes or you too may have to endure what I have gone through.

I contacted the office of a cardiologist who I had seen a few years ago and really liked to see if I could get an appointment. The office said that since it had been over three years since I had seen the doctor, I would be considered a new patient, and it would be a five month wait until I could get an appointment. What?!? I got in touch with my surgeon's office, and they referred me to Dr. Shervin Eshaghian at Beverly Hills Cardiology. Although the office is not close to where I live, I was desperate to find someone that could see me. I called the office on a Thursday afternoon and was helped by Amy. She was able to offer an appointment on Monday morning! I was very thankful that they would be able to fit me at such a last minute. The offices are located in Century City. The parking structure was very crowded, and I would recommend arriving at least 20 minutes ahead of an appointment to have time to park and get to the office. There is valet available and the valet attendants were very nice, and they worked very hard to accommodate everyone. The appointment went very well and everyone that I encountered was professional and great to work with. Evelyn A. took care of taking my vitals prior to seeing the doctor and she was very personable and made me feel very comfortable. Shortly after seeing her, Dr. Eshaghian started the exam. He learned about all the details of my upcoming surgery and was able to set me up with an echocardiogram on the spot. Chris conducted the echocardiogram and explained everything that was going on with the test. I have never had an echocardiographer provide so much information while having the test. When all was said and done, I was cleared for the surgery three days later. I was in the hospital for four nights. Each day, Dr. Eshaghian stopped by to check in on me, which I truly appreciated. He is very caring and going forward, I will gladly drive the extra distance to remain one of his patients.

The office has super thin walls so you hear everything in the rooms + the common corridor I was told that patients are to examine their own lab results and that the doctor does not review them unless specifically asked by patients or when the lab calls him for life threatening results The doc marked off and billed my insurance for every test besides the 1 test that was concerning and what I had actually come in for Dealing with the billing after each visit was just as unenthusiastic as the appointment itself When I questioned the invoice from the lab, I was told that I, as the patient need to tell the doctor what tests he needs to ask the lab for Unfortunately, In my experience with this office, It felt like all they want to do the bare minimum & just bill your insurance and they don't actually care about the actual patients :-/
