I was extremely disappointed with our service today, we've eaten here at least 6 times in the past 9 days and have been treated respectfully with the exception of today. Our waitress must have blinders on because she only asked twice if we needed anything. We had been there a total of 50 minutes.I waited for at least 25 minutes for her to ask if we needed anything and the worst part was that she looked directly at us 4 or 5 times. I thought we were maybe in the wrong section ( yes I know that it was stopped a long time ago) because all the people around us were black, she was black, yet I felt as she was intentionally avoiding us. If that was possibly the reason then I will pray for her to see the world as we are all equal. I am not asking for anything special just to be treated respectfully just as I treat others. First visit-great experience. Masey our server was on spot taking care of us. She was friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant and offerings. The serving lines were clean and well stocked. Received awesome reviews from family. So I decided to give them a try. Arrived at Nana's Chicken and Waffles and put my name on a list party of 2 was told it would be a 30 to 40-minute wait. I think ok, no worries I heard the food is excellent. We sit outside and watch party after party, walk up. Sit for a bit, then go in. After an hour, I go back in and inquire as to how much longer. I was told there were 7 parties in front of me. So I asked how if we've been sitting here. She said people on the Yelp list add their names at 8 am and when they arrive they are next on the list. They jump ahead of everyone that's there waiting. I said so if it's 7 parties ahead of me, then that's not 30 to 40 minutes, that's going to be another 3 to 4 hours, she said yes. So it's 12:36, and I may not get served. She didn't care. I spoke with a manager and she didn't care either. No empathy, no concern for the amount of time....My wasted time. I apologize in advance for giving a review for a buffet. Most people cringe and I get it. I really do. I was not the deciding factor of this lunch choice. Yes all of this fit on one plate because I got small potions of the sides. I wanted to try it all. There were many other options that I did not get to taste but any time I find myself in McDonough area, I promise you I will be back. The fried chicken was awesome. No dry chicken here. Cubed steak was seasoned amazingly well. Not to mention the dark gravy that topped it. The mashed potatoes no doubt were made from scratch. If they weren't, they have an amazing vendor they buy from. I have a hard time believing they weren't the real deal. Mac and cheese is something you just can't trust everyone with. Well you can trust this place no doubt. Collards were perfection and when I tell you someone "put their foot" in the dressing. Oh my Lawd. No one has ever compared to my Mema's dressing and she passed over the rainbow about eight years ago so I haven't had good dressing UNTIL NOW. It was so good I went back and got seconds. I had a second piece of fried chicken and I also tried the corn once I saw my coworker had it on his plate. It had yellow corn and silver Queen corn mixed together. It was amazing! This is a nice little country buffet. Almost everything I had was great. The fare is typical country food with things like fried green tomatoes, fried Chicken, fried chicken gizzards (or livers whatever they were), mashed potatoes and gravy, an assortment of vegetables. The greens on the salad bar where nice and fresh and the buffet overall was clean. My only real complaints are that it seems a bit disorganized, the smoked sausage was overcooked and the "minestrone" was more like a canned vegetable soup. The price was $9 and change which included my drink for lunch. I can't complain about that. If you're going to go to this place for your lunch break you might want to get take out because it's very crowded at lunch time and seating was limited. My my my....I'll never lose weight this way. I thought this was a vegetarian place all year but finally drug myself inside and buy was I surprised. The 2 young high school ladies at the register were very welcoming and know me as mom when I walk in now. The food was fresh and everything a northern southern gal needed. My favorite is the cabbage and salad bar. The salad bar has everything you can imagine including cranberries, yogurt and pasta salad. Usually go to Fried Tomato a couple times a month and no problems, went there today and was told there would be an hour wait to be seated so we went ahead and paid and got our number. After an hour our number was never called and I went to the register and asked how much longer and was told another hour and I said that we had already waited an hour and that there were 2 diabetics in our group and was told that that was not their problem and I told them that I just wanted a refund and was told that I would have to wait for it and I told them that I probably would not come back to that place again, the girl at the register was extremely rude and should not be working dealing with customers. The price is not bad, the food is mediocre, the staff is good. The problem is, it doesn't seem worth it in the end when you can get something delicious across the street for a couple dollars more. I wish more than anything that a new business would thrive, but it falls short. I went on a Friday so it costs something like $1 more. The food was not terrible, it wasn't great either, it was just food. They had burgers sitting in a water bath, but there were no buns and hardly any condiments, so what's the point? They had fried chicken, my wife really only eats white meat. I found her 1 breast in the whole batch, it was overcooked. The shrimp was pretty good, it was deveined so so you could hardly go wrong. The Mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole were both very good, but the mashed potatoes were powdered and rehydrated. Everything else left something to be desired, everything was a step down from real country cooking. I couldn't tell you how the dessert was, whatever they had was empty and not refilled for over 20 minutes that we waited around. I hate to bash a new business, in my community, but even if everything wrong was corrected, the food is still not better than even Golden corral ( I won't eat at GC) and the selection is 1/10 of what is offered at a golden corral for the same price. Phew! We were lucky to beat the church crowd! Me and my spouse walked in on a late Sunday morning and were immediately attended to and were told to choose a seat of our liking. We were hungry of course so we went to the buffet section together. As much as people would like to think it's over, COVID is still around and some restaurants especially buffets have adopted policies for the time being. Although it was not policed, gloves were mandated at the buffet lines in order to use the prongs. There was plenty of your typical buffet food however I don't remember too many choices of meats but as long as chicken is served, I will not complain. The quality was there. I started off with baked barbecue chicken, Mac and cheese, black eyed peas, collards and yams. All were pretty good! My second round consisted of the same sides but fried chicken which were split breasts as well as your dark and white meats. It tasted great! Around noon, the church crowd filed in and I started to feel the pressure from looks from the staff. I didn't like that but I understand it is a business and at the time we were a two person party sitting at a six party table so I sympathized with them. Fantastic food and I will be back! read more

Came in for a quick dinner while on the road to Florida and the food was in one word .. garbage! Nothing but canned vegetables and dried out proteins on the buffet. I am a huge fan of southern fried chicken and it was awful. The mashed potatoes were edible as was the dressing but everything else just looked totally unappetizing. The salad bar offered little in what looked to be fresh and the Italian dressing tasted like straight white vinegar. To say the dinner rolls may have been the hi-lite of the experience should say something. Well the iced tea was not bad either. We did not even attempt to find something on the dessert buffet because it was a filthy sticky mess. Our entire experience lasted maybe 30 minutes so well over the 75 minutes that they allow you to dine (the rule is actually posted on the door and several other spots around the restaurant including on every table) - NEVER AGAIN read more

Buffet had a lot of different selections. Food was very good for a buffet especially the pulled pork. They even had real homemade banana pudding not the fake stuff. Waitress was outstanding. Please have cash or get cash back from debit when you pay (you pay when you first walk in) so you can leave a tip. We messed up on that and felt really bad. Overall a great experience. My friends and I visited this new business out of curiosity. When we arrived the parking lot was full and several groups/people were waiting outside. Inside we were told there'd be a 20 minute wait. We asked if we could look at the buffet and they allowed us to do so. The floor was pretty busy with people making their plates. Some of the entrees, sides and desserts had empty serving containers. No fault of their own, but I noticed children serving themselves (with no adults near them) using their hands directly on the food. We were not impressed with what I saw. The seating was tight and mostly table/chairs with a few booths. Noise level was louder than I expected. The whole atmosphere seemed a tad chaotic. Maybe because it's Sunday. Anyhow, suffice it to say.. we didn't stay to eat. To be fair, the patrons eating seemed to be enjoying themselves. As we were pulling out of parking, another car was ready to take our spot. we eat here several times a week with an elderly parent on a walker. Every single day someone parks their car in front of the handicap walkway use to get up on the sidewalk. They run in and get their food to go.Management knows they do this every day. My recommended solution would be for management to stand outside for about a week, monitor the sidewalk and parking situation and when someone does park in front of the handicap access, they direct them to a parking place, not against the curb . read more

Visiting the area while my fiancé is on work orders here and we decided to check out this gem. With mixed reviews I was a little unsure if it was something I wanted to chance . Upon arriving we were able to get a table for two right away. The food was fresh and when a tray ran out the next one was ready to go in. The waitress made sure our drinks stayed replenished.
