I was on a mission to find Jack Daniels Country Cocktails in a bottle. I was creating a basket for a Auction Fundraiser and had a cooler with the log for the country coolers and hadn't had much luck finding the drinks I wanted to go with the cooler. I called a couple other liquor stores around South County and just got a no, we don't have those. Enter Emily (I hope I got that right) who was so nice on the phone, she walked around the store till she found what she was looking for, the display of Jack Daniels Country Cocktails. She gave me info on what different kinds they had and the cost and told me where to find them when I got there. She was so sweet! She was off by the time I got there but Alec took her place. I got lucky on the best employees that night or something! I found the cocktail bottles I needed and opted to go with the 12 pack in a variety pack. I hadn't been to Friar Tuck in a bit so I wandered around and then went to the front to look at the mini selection. I love the mini bottles and take the time to look at all of them. When Alec was done ringing up a customer, he started pointing out cool mini's. Great attitude and so super friendly. He ended up showing me some really cool glitter drinks and talked about the Advent kit. I walked out with about 6 mini's and the Advent kit of sparkly drinks that will be fun for our annual Christmas party with friends. These two employees are a definite asset to the store. The store has a great selection of everything you can imagine. Besides the mini choices, they do have a section of beers and seltzers that you can purchase individually. When I recently went to Washington, MO for a day trip I discovered, Tony's Sweet Heat Bloody Mary Mix. I wanted to add it to a gift box I was creating for someone and really wanted to avoid having to make the trip back to Wash MO to buy another bottle. Oh, did I mention Tony's is a local brand? It is, it is......Fenton, MO. I visited Tony's website and found out who carried it locally. I tried to buy it from small local shops, but they were all out (tells me how good it is), so I had to buy it from a BIG chain. However, I will say the price was $2 lower then what I paid in Washington, MO. Also, I was surprised by the attentiveness and friendliness of sales associates assisting on the floor. Friar Tuck's offers a huge selection and variety. The employees are friendly and very helpful whenever I have needed assistance and extremely knowledgeable. The store is well stocked and clean. It was here that an employee hipped me on to Angry Orchard Sinful Apple. He said it was like drinking apple pie in a bottle and I have been hooked since. The BF and I enjoy it here and have always found something to spark our interest. If I can't make it down to Total & Wine's and More it's convienant for me to stop in here. Unfortunately, they are more expensive than going to other liquor outlets, but sometimes I just don't care. It's on the rare occassion when I find a bargain but it does happen. I found Angry Orchard apple cider labeled at $12.99 for a 12 pack. I put 3 12 packs into my cart. When I got to the counter to pay, the clerk told me the Angry Orchard was $17.99. I walked back with the clerk and showed him the price label. He extracted it and took it to the manager. He told me that the manager said it was a mistake and they were not going to honor the disposal. I found Yueng Ling lager 12 packs for $12.99. I put two in my cart. I was charged $13.99 per 12 pack. I paid this because I didn't want to go back again to show mispriced product again. The manager came over as I had finished buying the beer. She told me it was mislabeled price. I told her it was poor management placing incorrect prices. She rudely told me she didn't do it. I explained I didn't mean she had personally done it. I didn't go to Friar Tucks to buy beverages that are under priced to be charged more than the price labeled in the shelves. More importantly, I didn't go there to have a manager combatively confront me. A sensible manager wouldn't have been confrontational. She could have said I'm sorry for the mis-pricing. We can give you at least one of the ciders at the shelf price for our error. Instead, she left me leave feeling deceived and attacked. read more

Friar Tucks is a great place to go to pick up your favorite alcohol! They have a vast selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Their huge beer aisle is filled with local and non-local products and a create a six pack section if you want to mix it up and try several different beers. Friar Tucks get special release beers and has a nice rotating selection of seasonal choices. I also like that they have a walk in cooler so it is chilled and ready to drink! If you are interested in brewing your own beer they sell all the supplies needed to do this. If wine or spirits are your thing you will not be disappointed. Several aisles of wines organized by styles and regions. A great selection of Missouri local wines if that is your thing. I like that they sell several different price points so if you are looking for a decent affordable or a higher end wine you can find both there. Some of the wines are also available chilled in their back cooler. At times, they offer free samples and tastings at a small bar area in the back of the store. Glasses, cheese, wine accessories, etc. are also sold here. You can also sign up for their mail list to see upcoming sales, promotions and seasonal items. Staff are generally helpful and greet you as you enter and offer help. They help you out if needed, but don't bother you and let you browse if you need no help, which I appreciate. I called Friar Tucks to inquire about a certain wine with a certain year. They did not have the year wine I wanted. I had already looked on their web site, and they did have the year wine I wanted. I asked the person on the phone, if I ordered it online (the year I wanted), would they just ship it to their store, and she yes. I ordered 2 bottles of the year wine I wanted thinking I would pick it up in a day or 2. Oddly enough I received an email within 20 minutes that it was ready. I figured, hey maybe they found some....but whatever. I went there and opened the bag just to find that it was not what I ordered. I told her that I didn't want that. So apparently I cannot get my money back until the next day. Now don't get me wrong, I'm no wine snob by any means, but at this point it was the principle of the whole thing. I paid for something that I did not get. I will keep the wine and drink it for sure, it's still good wine, but like I said, it was the principle. I feel as though they were trying to pull a fast one. I tried to just email someone in the company but lo and behold, no e-mail address that I could find. Bottom line, they lost me as a customer...at least for a long long time. Ordered a bottle of Irish whiskey last night and when I went to pick it up today I was told they didn't carry the brand I ordered. They said they would have informed me last night but their system went down and apparently no one's cell phone worked. Their system was up long enough to take my money. I was very impressed with their selections of wine, beer, and liquor as I stepped inside the store. Not that I have never been to something similar but I actually found the wine I've been wanting to get (special reason but I won't tell you) here tonight. Of course, I grabbed a bottle with the intention of making the purchase and proceeded to walk around the store to browse their large selection of whatever you want. It reminded me of the phrase "choose your poison" literally! There were shelves upon shelves of specialty liquor and beer. Wow! They also have some awesome sales as well as the "make your own 6-pack" deal if you are into trying out a different beer variety. I found some Filipino beer (by the brewery that is equivalent to Missouri's AB but for the entire country!) I am not a beer-drinker but it's cool to know that they carry them, in case I feel like showing off some of my home country's brews to some friends. Check-out was a breeze. The guy working there wasn't super friendly but meh... whatever. I will definitely come back. Yet another store with zero customer service skills. I asked a gentleman on The floor if they had two specific beers. He said I don't know go ask the guy upfront. I went up front and asked that guy, he looked at the computer said yeah we have both they should be in this aisle or that aisle. I told him yes I looked in both of those spots I don't see them and he said oh well then I don't know. Seriously?! The products carried are extensive and priced well. The lay out is easy to navigate and find what you are shopping for. There is a 15% discount if you buy 6 or more bottles of wine. The person checking us out did not apply the discount to our purchase. I returned today and waited in line at a check out as I could not find anyone at the main desk. When I finally got to the check out person I explained that the discount was not applied. He took the receipt from me and looked it up and down a few times. Then he said I'm going to have to return everything and re ring it. No apology and just seemed a little frustrated. He then old the people waiting in line behind me " this is going to take a while as she has a return" not politely. At this point I almost felt guilty for wanting my discount. I like going to this store because it is close and has an amazing selection of wine and beer. But every single time I go it makes me regret it. There is never any workers and if you do get one they don't help in anyway. If you ask for help or a suggestion they don't have anything to say. When you check they are never friendly and have rung my order up wrong on multiple occasions. I don't know how they have any good reviews at all. Lubb Lubb Lubb.... Friar Tucks. Picture Wal-Mart with only beer cheese and wine. The only thing that would make this place better is if they had Presidente Beer from the Dominican. My husband recently moved to the states from England and was use to more "stout" beers, ales, lager, etc. We had such issues getting him use to Americanized beers (Budweiser, MGD, etc.) Now we can pick up stuff here and on occasion play around the world. (Where we get beers from around the world and try them.) You can build your own six pack which is nice so you don't get stuck drinking pack of crap that sits in your frig for months. Chain or not, I'm pretty much a sucker for all specialty liquor stores. I came here on the way to a friends in a hurry to pick up some whiskey. It's big, has tons of merchandise, and it's pretty easy to get help if you need. I usually like to wander a bit and check out all the different brands. I recommend finding a good website that can recommend different spirits/beers/wines to help make the experience more enjoyable. Otherwise you might as well close your eyes and pick at random! I went with a Woodford Reserve bourbon. Not my favorite but I wanted to try something new. Next time I'm in a pinch and in the area I'll be stopping by Friar Tucks. read more

This is the the Taj Mahal of alcohol. It helps that it's about 3 minutes from my house! They are really helpful here, and can tell you where anything is. They always ask if they can help you find anything. They have every variety known to man, seriously! Lots of beer and wine from local wineries and breweries and seasonal offerings as well. They also sell cheese and other small bites so you could stop here and get stuff for a picnic. Also mixers every every type and cards/bags in case you want to buy a bottle and give as a gift in a one stop shop. This is definitely as good as it gets for a liquor store! read more

I brew my own beer, but every now and then it's good to taste what other brewers are doing. Unfortunately, I'm such a beer snob that it's hard to a place with a decent selection of ales to satisfy my palate's craving for tooth-enamel-peeling, taste-bud-squashing, hoppy bitterness. Friar Tuck's meets my needs and exceeds them! They carry all the great west coast breweries I love (Rogue, Avery, Bear Republic, etc) with a HUGE selection of 22oz bombers and 6-packs. It's a good thing my budget is limited or else my liver would be in trouble! The only downside is the price - often $1 higher per 6 pack compared to the other microbrew havens (Lucas, Starr's, Whole Foods, Wine & Cheese Place, etc.) - however this location is usually more convenient for me than the aforementioned usual suspects. read more

Lots and lots of selection and variety! We have been searching for a harder-than-normal-to-find Japanese beer called Hitachino Nest and finally found it here! OK, yeah, it's still around $4.50/bottle (regular-sized bottle), but that's about the price I've seen at other places. They have this great section where you can fill an empty 6-pack with a bunch of individual beers for $9.99 to make your own sampler pack. Clever idea. Only certain beers in this selection, but there are a bunch to choose from, and my impression is that the selection changes. They also have THE largest selection of miniature alcohol bottles I've ever seen! They are well organized near the check-out lanes. read more

This is hands down the best liquor store in the county, and in my opinion the best wine selection in town. I love the atmosphere at this place. Normally, if you have the wine I am looking for, I could care less if the person checking me out has 2 inches of ash on her cigarette, a broken neon sign that says Miller High Life and bars on the windows. However, the atmosphere here is worth mentioning. The place is massive, clean and bright. Wine is kept in beautiful wood boxes, I just love the way this place feels. Also, they have a massive wine selection. The wines are organized by country and state. The Missouri section is pretty amazing and so far is the only place that I have been able to find Adam Puchta wines...(my boyfriend and mother are both huge fans and were ecstatic I found it so close). Also, the staff is really helpful. If you are looking for something specific and don't feel like making the drive to see if they have it, just call them. They will check the store, and if they have only one bottle left, they will hold it for you until you can get there. Also, they sell pocket shots. If you aren't in the know, these are one shot sized plastic baggies of liquor...perfect for hiding in your pockets (hence, pocket shots) for concerts or sporting events if you are trying to save a few bucks. There's a place in Lexington, KY called Liquor Barn. Yes, it's a barn full of liquor, and it's fabulous. Friar Tuck, the new wine/beer/spirits store in Crestwood, is almost as good, but lacks a small space for specialty foods and the like that LB carries for the true party connoisseur. I dig Friar Tucks because it's a clean, well-lit space that carries LOTS of kinds of bourbon. Sweet caramel-brown-nectar-of-the-gods bourbon. I imagine that I will be shopping here this Christmas. Nothing says "celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus" like a gift pack liter of vodka with free martini glasses! read more

This is pretty much the Sam's or Costco of Wine and Liquor. I'm not sure where to start my review, which is how I felt when I walked into Friar Tuck's for the first time...where do I begin. This store is huge! I originally went in looking for some Pumpkin Spice Liqueur that I couldn't find anywhere else and not only did FT have it, they had a large supply of it. Now that my main mission was completed I decided to look around. It took me about 40 minutes to check everything out. Needless to say I made some other purchases for a few more holiday libations. You need to see Friar Tuck's to really appreciate it. The walls are lined with bottles upon bottles of wine. The isles are filled with beers from good old St. Louis to (insert another place on the planet). And if you're looking for spirits, well let's just say that even Ebenezer Scrooge would be impressed. Went here for the first time yesterday, and it's a craft beer lover's heaven. The best selection I've ever seen. Staff was very friendly and took time to answer a few questions and even walked with me to parts of the store to show me items. I stopped in last night and I have to say I won't be going back. First off, I get it, gluten free or lower gluten beer is a tall order, a maltier one is even a taller order. Knowing this I still go in optimistic that with such a large selection, as per the other reviews, I should be able to find something. Did I? Yes. Will I go back? Nope. I browsed the selection and picked up two bottles of Green's Endeavour Dubbel. I look for a few other brands, but I don't see them. I work in a library so I am accustomed to asking for help and I am well versed in the art of how to answer a question. I go up and ask about another brand of beer and to see if it is carried. The gentleman at my register checks and says no, and then asks the other gentleman at the far counter and both men say no they do not have it. I was then treated to a most condescending discourse regarding why they don't carry it,how it's all the same, how there has been nothing new in the gf market in years, and how when they are ordered people want to try them, realize its all the same, and beer is expiring because it won't sell. Now, I am not a beer seller, but I have been struggling with this intolerance for 3 years now, so I get it. I go in places understanding that I am not going to be "catered to" ,that and I know that to quote the gentleman last night, "nobody wants it" when it comes to this kind of beer. Gluten free has gained ground in a few areas, but a lot of people still see it as a "fad" thing. Maybe this gentleman was one? Maybe he was just irritated because a "fad" is costing him money? I don't know. What I do know, is that I was sorry I even asked. As the second gentleman finishes his explanation another man comes up in line behind me. The man at the register I am standing at, with two beers and my purse out, proceeds to motion to him in order to wait on him. What? I not only feel sorry I asked a question, but invisible. So Friar Tucks, you just lost this customer. I wont buy my beer from you, or my vodka, wine or any other beverage. Could this have been different? Sure! A simple "I'm sorry we don't carry that" would have been sufficient. A "I could take your number and when we get a larger selection in, we can contact you" would have been awesome customer service and it would have helped the guy move stock before it expired. read more

Wow, talk about an alcoholic dying and going to heaven. This place is for grown ups what Toys R Us is for kids. Yea, it's that good. I had a serious booze crush on another liquor store prior to seeking out and finding Friar Tuck, but that place is old news and I have my new booze crush in Friar Tuck. This place is enormous for a wine/liquor store, it's like the Sam's Club of wine/liquor stores. Their wine selection is vast and very reasonably priced. This place has wines from places I've never even heard of, and from all the places that you would expect. If you can't find it other places, I bet you can find it here. Will you find your favorite wine cheaper on sale some place else? Perhaps, but their everyday prices are great and hard to beat. Their beer selection is equally impressive and they have a large selection of chilled beer as well which is always nice if you are picking something up on the way home to drink that night or on your way to a friends house bringing some frosty gifts. One other really cool thing they have, is make your own six packs. This is a great way to sample some new brews that you don't want to purchase a whole six pack of in case you don't like it. As far as spirits go, I've only browsed them as that was not my purpose of my visit, but there were several long isles that were devoted to just spirits so they have to have quite a selection. My next trip I will have to peruse this section more. Vast quantities of wine, beer and liquor, check. Awesome prices, check, friendly staff, check check. This place has got it all your bases covered. If you are throwing a party and need to stock up on beer and liquor, this is your place. If you are looking for a nice bottle of wine, this place has plenty. On Saturdays they do tastings, and not just of wine. I was introduced to one of my new favorite brews, Magic Hat #9, at Friar Tucks. This place is Afreakingmazing, and has become my go to place when I need to do some shopping for adult beverages. My only complaint, is I wish there was one close to where I lived, but I will gladly make the drive to pay them a visit and so should you. read more

Gigantic and expensive, but overall an OK liquor store. It has everything you want. A huge beer selection, huge wine selection, and huge liquor selection. It's large, well lit, and nice inside. Don't expect customer service, as there are usually 2-3 employees working the entire place, and most of them don't have a clue what they're doing. I'll stick with the beer. It's usually $1 more than everywhere else in town. They do a poor job rotating their stock, and since it is so BRIGHT in there, all the beer gets light exposure like whoa. They also take 4-5 days after everyone else gets stuff in stock to put it out. For beer, there are better stores in town, but Friar Tuck works in a pinch, or when everyone else has already sold out. read more

The sheer size of the place is impressive, I've seen the selection before, but never to that grand of a scale! They didn't have the two wines i was hoping for that night, but they made up for it when i went to the fridged beer section for a few unique six packs.
