That's until we met some of the miserable ladies behind the food counter at Super Khorak. I waited there for 30 minutes for my food. At one point, I turn and see the employee who took my order whispering in another one's ear while looking at me. I told my partner something was going on. I thought maybe they burned our food. Finally we went to the other end of the counter, realizing there was another pick up section. One of the employees asks for my number. I search my pockets and realize I've lost the receipt. I tell her. She rolls her eyes and storms off. Comes back and barks "what did you order?" I tell her. She says "I called your number 10 times." They knew it was our food! They saw us standing there for more than 30 minutes. What the heck? Then she goes over to some new lady behind the cash whispering while gawking at me. At this point I was at my wit's end. I go over there and say 'excuse me. Is there a problem.' New lady smiles and says "no, no problem at all." I finally get my food. But this whole experience made me lose my appetite and ruined what was up to that point an amazing day. Don't bother. Go next door to Super Arzan. Hopefully they won't ruin your day.

Trupti seems to be that secret place that isn't reviewed much but has a stream of South Indian shoppers who make the pilgrimage to this place for their spices. Trupti has a factory in the back where fresh spices are roasted and packaged before they are either brought to the front and sold in store or sent off under private label. I was told by staff that restaurants make their own blends here just for themselves. The place is a family run business with their own blends as well. As you can see from all my photos, I picked up A LOT! I waited till I opened some of these before posting a review. What I noticed right away is that the spices smell really fresh. I compared it to some McCormack spices I just got from metro and Trupti wins by a long shot. The roasted spices smell amazing. We went way back to Kensington Market in the 80s. Family run for years they have the freshest and best selection of spices around. If they don't have it on the shelf the odds are they have it in the back and will be more than happy to pack you up some. Since they supply many restaurants and pretty well a majority of the Indian markets. They also have a great selection of nuts and all kinds of flour. Very friendly staff, helpful, just good people. Each cost $6.50. With their combos, bubble tea comes at a $0.50 discount so obviously we got a drink as well! To be very frank and honest, the bentos weren't worth their price at all. Some pieces of meat and a marinated egg came on a bed of rice, along with some boiled frozen vegetables (corn and broccoli, cauliflower, carrots). My mom's bento had very little meat, and mine had a more generous serving of chicken. However, my rice came doused with the three cup marinade, while my mom's rice was thoroughly coated in oil (kinda nasty). Since it was right after the holidays they had small and medium gift packages of cookies, and cookies individually are priced by weight, though there was frequent lack of signage to tell what the cookies were or what they cost. I opted to try some cake slices prior to getting a whole cake of the same flavour. I got the pistachio swiss roll and pistachio cake slice, and the staff had mentioned the rectangular cake slice would taste more strongly of pistachio. I tried both at home and the swiss roll has a stronger pistachio taste, both were kind of weak tasting, but that is not the issue at hand. Both the cake and swiss roll were tough and stale, to the point where grocery store frozen cake tastes better. Even those $5 or $6 vanilla cakes at Walmart are not this hard. The cream, the sponge cake, all of it was old and rubbery. Save yourself the pain and get cake somewhere else. I felt like I was eating fake wax food instead of real cake. I'm really disappointed as their bakery section is huge and seemed to have a lot to offer, but I've been burned and am reluctant to try their other sweets.

They also have different confectionery offerings. The lady who was helping us said that they sell platters of these confectionery for parties and events. If you are a nut butter fan this place is an absolute treat and a must place to visit. They make it fresh on site! I am a coffee junkie and I saw that they also roast their coffee beans on site. I bought a pound of their arabica beans. As much as I love a light roast coffee, this was not my fave unfortunately 6/10 in my books. But, other than the coffee, this place is definitely a good store to visit if you love nuts and nut butter.
