What a strange name for a convenience store. They do have some baked goods. But I have never tried…read moretheir sandwiches since I'm always in this area on the weekends. It's a cramped, small place that seems a little disorganized. I once bought a chocolate chip muffin before heading to my sewing class just up the street. But it didn't taste very fresh or delectable, so I stopped eating it. There isn't much else around in terms of buy-it-and-go food in the immediate vicinity. The nearest chain coffee shop is just south of St.Clair.

My fav is the fruit section, it's like they always stock the freshest in-season and most delicious fruits at a lower price than the supermarket (longos) I also love that there is a huge parking lot at the back of the store which is very convenient, don't have to cross the street or anything.

I lived around the corner from this place for about a year so I would frequent it often for "safe"…read moreitems such as pop, chips, non-perishable food items and cigarettes -- items dodgy convenient stores move frequently and don't sit on the shelves for years collecting dust. I should have stuck to this rule but one day I guess I decided it would be alright to pick up a box of cereal. I figured that sort of thing takes a long time to expire so I grabbed Multigrain Cheerios and was on my way. When I had my first bowl I knew something was wrong -- it was very stale and tasted like sawdust. To my surprise the front of the box was advertising the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney... I bought the cereal in 2002. So even though this place is fine for your usual convenient store items I would highly suggest staying away from any food. And if you do find yourself browsing those items then make sure you check the expiration date because they likely have tins of beans from 1997.

It's not fancy or anything and you'll pay more than in the big supermarkets but it's VERY convenient. They've somehow managed to squeeze most things you could randomly happen to want into one small shop. They have usual grocery bits and pieces, milk, dairy, some ready meals and packaged cakes. Even chocolate chips-my downfall. There's no excuse not to clean-lots of laundry/household detergents etc. Randomly-they have DVDs for rent -there's a photocopier -the clothes hung in plastic bags in the back corner are because they offer dry cleaning -they'll cut your keys -good selection of greeting cards -coffee and lottery! The random mishmash of different services makes me smile and it's so so handy. They open pretty late too...not entirely sure how late but until at least 11pm. Win!

Came to Elm Basket to get a copy of my key and fob. Their prices are very reasonable - if I recall…read morecorrectly, it was about $6 per key copy and $30 for a fob. This is by far cheaper than some other fob places (eg. Mini Fob) where it's closer to $80! They were able to get all my items copied (2 keys and 1 fob) in about 5-10 minutes while I waited. My fob worked perfectly fine but my cut keys do NOT work - they were not cut very precisely so one doesn't turn in the lock at all, and the second does turn but gets jammed easily. Overall I would recommend them to get your fob done, but I would suggest you go elsewhere to get some keys cut.
