Thirstea - Okinawa brown sugar milk tea

Amazing service, good variety of…read moreoptions on the menu, and some seating available, including beam bag chairs, along with a selection of board games. We got the white peach green tea and the bubble waffle with a scoop of ice cream. Both were delicious, however we left the ice cream sit for too long and it started melting, which made it a bit difficult to eat. Excited to come back to try more drinks and play some more board games!

Could this be Mississauga's hidden gem for bubble tea? Possibly…read more I came across this place by chance and decided to give it a try. I got 3 drinks: one Jasmine green tea, one classic milk Boba tea and one pineapple tea with Boba. I was not that big of a fan of the pineapple but loved the other ones. I don't like the Boba used as I find it a little too chewy and the taste isn't as good as other Boba pearls I've had. I find this one to have a bit of stronger taste. It's a small shop, but cute. There are board games available and it gives off a cozy/chill vibe. When waiting for your drink, there's a seating area near the door and even a game you can try. The timer/game gives you the chance to win a free drink on the house if you manage to get a perfect 10:00 score (I mean you manage to stop the timer on that time). Product was well packaged. Drink was not too sweet despite not having adjusted the sweetness level, which I liked. The only thing for me was the waiting time which took forever, as in more than 20 minutes to be served. It was busy and there was only 1 person working. 1 person for the entire place, to make drinks and take the orders. I can imagine how much slower it would be during peak hours. I went during non-peak hours and there was only 2 people in store sitting down, yet it took me over 20 minutes to get my drinks.

Short Stop Bubble Tea - It's the little store in the middle area closest to Dixie

After having a late lunch, I felt like getting some bubble tea…read more A woman was busy washing some items in the back. It allowed me to review what seemed to be an exhaustive list of bubble tea beverages. She finally came over, apologized, and asked what I'd like. I asked her which bubble teas do not have milk in them. She recommended the lychee. She also indicated that peach, grape, and pineapple are milk-free. I asked her about strawberry. It does not contain milk. I said yes. I am borderline lactose-intolerant. She asked whether I wanted tapioca. Yes! She whipped up my bubble tea quickly. A large is $4.50. It's not overly sweet, which is exactly how I like it. Sure, it was -6°C outside and I'm sipping an icy cold drink. It was great. I'd come back here for future bubble tea fixes. (239)

Call me surprised that a decent and affordable bubble tea place is hidden in this old Asian centre…read more I was looking for a good place nearby and it seemed a lot of terrible options (which ... there clearly is) are in this east Mississauga. This centre is showing it's age and with its fairly small food court, you can get a lot of food for really really low prices. Facing the food court is a small middle row with 3 snack stalls that all sell random Asian candies and bubble teas. Skip the first two (even though they have better deals) and pick the last one in the row that is closest to Dixie Rd. Unlike the typical Taiwanese popular stores coming over, these ones arent flashy with cream cheese toppings, pudding add ins, customization, or new inventive flavours. It's your typical milk tea, fruit tea, and slushy options BUT unlike the old bubble tea style of the old (aka. powder sugar bombs that tasted fake), this one has authentic tea flavour, subtle fruit flavourings, and actually not a lot of sugar. It was a good drink. The other good part, it was only $5 per drink including taxes for a very large size. Litchi Green Tea with pearls - Solid green tea with a light litchi flavour. It was more typical of a nice refreshing iced green tea than a sugary boba tea. It was a large size and I could easily drink it all without feeling like I was overloading on sugar. The boba was tender without being too clingy overcooked. I would have probably added a bit more boba though for the size. 4/5 Black milk tea with pearls - A decent black tea flavour. I would say that this is probably at 50 or 75% sugar levels of new places. I think it could have been more tea like as this was possibly more creamier than good places like Coco. Like the litchi, I would probably have added more boba for the large size. 3.5/5 So if you're looking for a decent boba tea without all the flash and customization, this would be a nice affordable option.

Meeko Meeko Cafe - Mango Grapefruit Coconut Milk

A Yelp event introduced me to Meeko Meeko Cafe. I loved what I had sampled, both drinks and snacks,…read morethat I returned here with my team from work. In late July, our team had a summer event at Claw Land, which Yelp also introduced me to. I suggested that we come to this cafe afterwards for a drink. It was a seven-minute drive away. This cafe's entrance is on the left of Foodie North. There was lots of parking outside. I drove two of my colleagues over here. We got out of my car and walked in. It was nice seeing a couch and more seating. It was all moved out for our Yelp event less than a couple of weeks back. The Yelp event indicated that we'd vote for a new drink that would be permanently on the menu. I decided to ask the two women behind the counter whether the aurora pêche (sparkling peach) drink was available yet. They looked clueless. They looked at me as if I was not an earthling. I guess not. I hadn't lost my mind. Jane, the owner, wasn't there. She would have known. There were Yelp-branded glasses on the bookshelf, so this event wasn't a figment of my imagination. There were eleven of us. One of my friends got the Oreo ice cream milk tea. He loved it. I got a large peach strawberry oolong tea (no sugar and less ice) with coconut jelly. It was excellent. It hit the spot after a fun time playing claw games. My other friend got a mango green tea. She was so happy with this drink. Yay! It was nice that everyone on the team loved what they had ordered. My manager tends to trust my judgment and got the same drink that I did. No complaints. Nice! My other colleague ordered a mango coconut milk tea with coconut jelly. She loved it so much that she ordered another one and three other teas for her family before she left. Wow! If you need to use the washroom, you head over to Foodie North next door. It was clean. The eatery was also cool to peruse. This place accepts debit and credit cards. We had a great time caping off our summer work event here. It's a good cafe to get bubble tea and more, and hang out. Located around back from Foodie North, this bbt place is also connected to the Chinese restaurant…read more After speaking to Jane, the owner, Meeko Meeko has been opened since January. It seems to have a flow of students as they were offering a studen special. I don't frequent bbt places because I find it pricey, PLUS I'm not a fan of fake fruit powders or tea mixes. Instead, I prefer to make my own at home with actual tea leaves/bags. However, after speaking with Jane, she told me that her tea is actually sourced from Taiwan and the coffee she sourced is from a local, Toronto roaster. So both tea/coffee options are legit. After some discussion of what I was in the mood for, I took Jane's recommendation of the Creme Brulee milk tea. This custard topping is also made in-house with actual vanilla beans. And Jane took the liberty of not adding any extra sugar to the tea itself as the topping already contains sugar. Overall, if I were to stop for bbt, I'd opt for Meeko Meeko as opposed to other places esp those big chains. I prefer to support local, small businesses AND the quality of the product is better!
