    Sriracha aioli tuna over rice
    Cindy J.

Is this authentic Hawai'i poke? No. But it will satisfy my craving. This is more of a Chipotle-style make your own bowl place. The tuna is super fresh, but it's not pre-marinated, you can choose your own sauce. There are a ton of options to add onto your bowl, and even the base can be switched from regular rice to multigrain rice or zoodles. Lost a star due to two things: one, I like my poke fairly plain, tuna and rice with crab meat and radish. You pay the same price no matter how many toppings (with the exception of the avocado I think) so I felt as if my bowl was a bit overpriced for what it was. Two, there is no recycling here. I get a plastic bowl, plastic sauce cups, and plastic drink cups but no recycling bin to throw things away afterwards.

By now, everyone is aware that Marbin loves poke. If I had to explain what Marbin's dining experience at Freshido in Harrisburg PA was like I'd have to compare it to the story of a well known cruise ship. It started off marvelously. I stood at the front of line and was greeted by the captain (a Freshido employee in charge of the culinary cruise) . I watched calmly as my bowl floated effortlessly down the counter and each choice of ingredient felt like it somehow made itself (smooth sailing). I eagerly observed as pieces of tune, salmon and shrimp were tenderly laid down on a flocculent bed of white rice. Then the mix-ins came sprinkling down onto the bowl like raindrops from heaven. seaweed, edamame, cilantro and scallions illuminated the dish with a vivid green hue while red masago dots, sparkled and glimmered vibrantly like a thousand tiny blood rubies. I felt as if I was the 'king of the world', that is, until we got to the sauce. Many of you know that I have been burned before on sauce. I knew that I had to be careful after my experience at Poke Bros in Knoxville TN, so I asked for a LITTLE sriracha aioli. The lady behind the counter complied by gently squeezing the sauce bottle in a Z pattern over the bowl. Then, all of the sudden, the iceberg!!! I asked for citrus fresh sauce and forgot to say just a little bit. The Freshido employee, hoisted the plastic sauce bottle and gave it a ferocious squeeze with all of her vigor. This employee then, relentlessly compressed the bottle for a span of time that amounted to an eternity in sauce-time. I stood there defenseless, as I watched my once majestic bowl, drowning in an ocean of citrus fresh sauce. The image that came to my mind was, of course, that of the Titanic, sadly sinking into a quiet sea of death, unable to withstand the wrath of Poseidon. When the horrific moment of saucing was over, I was left trembling with a true feeling of shipwreck in my heart. I resentfully ate the poke anyway. It was alright. In conclusion, I believe that we as a society, should mandate either a sauce-time test for anyone entrusted with the vast responsibility of squeezing plastic bottles which contain sauce over a customer's carefully constructed bowl, or, regulate the diameter of the cap opening to create a finer sauce squirting mechanism. Sauce dispensing should not and cannot be left to the subjective whims of the poke line employees. I think that this is what senators are for and am planning to write my senator as soon as I find out who he (or she) is. I thought about bestowing only 3 stars upon Freshido but decided to go with 4 for a few reasons: 1.I am aware that beggars can't be choosers, especially when it comes to obscure Hawaiian dishes in the middle of amish country. 2. I gave the employee the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she has a chronic forearm condition that causes her to squeeze uncontrollably. In that case my meal was just a victim of happenstance 3. I am, after all, a merciful Yelper. 4stars

FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY! Poke has come to Harrisburg. I have been lamenting the lack of a poke restaurant in our area and I am incredibly excited to see Freshido filling that gap. I went for the first time last night. Being as it was after hours, it wasn't too busy. With just one visit, it is already in my top ten favorite restaurants in Harrisburg. My family and I have done poke before so we knew the drill. I love that zucchini noodles are an option in addition to rice (they even have a black rice option!) and making a burrito. I also like that's it's not just traditional poke. They also have Korean style rice bowls. If you like Korean BBQ, you'll like the options. You make your way through the line. You pick your base (rice, burrito, or zucchini) then add your protein (raw salmon, shrimp, raw tuna, tofu, scallop, chicken, Bulgogi beef, or Bulgogi chicken). Two scoops of protein are $9.95 and three scoops are $12.95. Scoops are on the small size so go for three if you are a big eater. Two were fine for me and my kids. Hubby wishes he had opted for the three. Then you do mix-ins. There is an interesting mix of Japanese, Korean, and Mexican items. Truly allowing you to do a fusion approach if you want to. Or you can stay traditional. The sweet mushrooms were amazing and they have two types of seaweed. Have fun and pick what you like and will go well together. After mix-ins, you can pick a sauce. My son went with no sauce because he wanted a sushi-ish experience. I tasted the smoky lava which is really good and is a creamy chipotle. However, I opted to go with the Wasabi aioli. It was good and aligned with the more Japanese flavor I was building. Hubby got the Goshu and liked it. Next you're on to toppings. Only the avocado is extra. They have normal poke toppings but also things like raisins and kimchi (their kimchi is great!). Lots of great ways to top your already amazingly personalized bowl. Finally, you get to add a crunch. Great options. Roasted garlic (my choice), lotus chips (I added one), nori, furimaki, sesame seeds, etc. Drinks are typical and they have some non-typical choices like guava nectar and coconut water. They also have bubble tea (we didn't got to try them). If the idea of designing your own bowl is overwhelming, you can pick one of their pre-designed options. All of them sound great. Ambiance is clean and modern. Service is friendly and fast. This is a two thumbs waaaaaay up establishment. I can't wait to go again.

It's a brand new restaurant opened just over 1 week and half ago. If you've been to Kondu at the Harrisburg Mall, this shouldn't be a stranger to you. If not, just think of Chipotles and Moe's Southwest Grills where you go through an assembly line to build your own -- EXCEPT you probably won't recognize many of the ingredients. Fear not! There are a few "Signature" ready-made recipes you can choose from. You can also be adventurous and pick everything or anything. Can't go wrong really. Just stay away from tuna/salmon if you cannot eat them raw. (Suggestion to Freshido: putting a label in front of each ingredient would go a long way.) Unlike Kondu, even though the menu offers the Poke-rritos (burritos) option, 30 out of 30 people I saw on this visit ordered Poke Bowls. I find it remarkable that not a single soul ordered Poke-rrito. I was no exception -- but for me it was for the same reason I order Earmuff burrito bowls at Moe's: it's less messy and better value, IMO. I went at the peak lunch hour today and the line wrapped around. It looked really long but it moved along really nicely. I got my turn after around 10 minutes. I built my own bowl with white rice and 2 scoops of salmon sashimi as choice of protein, plus a dozen others (see photo). It was fresh, healthful and tasty (right, downright Hawaiian). For $9.95, I think they've priced it to perfection. Any higher they'd probably price themselves out of the lunch crowd. Another thing I really like about this place is that they offer noticeably more ingredients than Kondu for the same price. For me that's enough of a catalyst for me to add an extra star. I would recommend it. One tip: just like at Chipotle's, you're at the mercy of the servers as far as the amount of ingredients you receive for each "scoop". So smile and hope for the best -- or if you don't mind being tacky, wear a big red Yelp T-shirt ;-)

Well I gotta say it was a lot different from what I ever had before. Different in a good way though. I enjoyed it but it's not something I can eat all the time. I definitely recommend anybody to give it a try.

Fresh, friendly, fast, and yummy. Lots of items to choose from and they are very helpful if your new to the process of ordering. Home made soda is the icing on the cake!

Oh yes. Fresh. I liked it. A Chipotle-type scenario. But worthwhile ingredients. Spare decor and minimal human interactions.

There were probably 8 to 10 spots out front in their parking lot as well as street parking. Upon entering I was immediately greeted, seated, and handed a menu.(pictures included). There was a large selection of sushi, however I decided upon the salmon teriyaki. I chose a diet cola as my beverage, not being in the mood for hot or sweet tea, etc. My order arrived on a sizzling platter within 10 minutes. On the table was soy sauce and low sodium soy sauce which was what I used on my white rice. The salmon was accompanied with onions, sliced carrots, and broccoli, and everything was delicious (Photo included in my accompanying pics). Hours and hours go into their cooking of the ramens. They actually have a college student that makes the ramen fresh here so there is a specialization in this establishment. The place is still super clean even though it's been open for a year. There is nothing tacky with the interior decorations here and there are even two sofas comfortably in your view to sit down for a bit.
