I drove an hour to Woof Gang Bakery for my dog's grooming appointment and arrived five minutes late…read morebecause I was stuck in heavy traffic. I understand that I was late, and I take responsibility for that. When I arrived at 1:36, there was no manager at the store, only the groomer, who was still working on the previous dog and had not finished. I was then told that because I was five minutes late, she could only give my dog a "mini" haircut, meaning none of his body would be groomed. I was a new client and was never made aware of a policy stating that being 5-6 minutes late would result in losing the full grooming service. If that is the policy, I believe it should be clearly communicated when the appointment is booked. I explained that I had driven an hour for this appointment. The groomer told me I had not called ahead and that doing the full groom would delay everyone else. I pointed out that she was still working on the previous dog when I arrived, so the schedule was already running behind. She then said, "I'm giving you this. I don't have to give you anything since you were late." I found that response very disappointing. I understand that being on time matters, but I would have expected more consideration, especially as a client who had driven an hour. If the appointment before me was already running behind, I also would have appreciated being contacted before making the one-hour drive. I declined the mini haircut because I can bathe my dog and groom his face myself. That is not why I drove an hour for a professional grooming appointment. The issue wasn't simply being five minutes late. It was the lack of communication, the lack of clarity about the late policy, and the way the situation was handled. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would NOT recommend this groomer or this location. This business sends text messages appointment reminder, so there is clearly and established way to communicate with clients. If notifying the groomer about a few minutes of traffic related delay is important, why isn't the phone number included in the text appointment reminder? Why didn't the groomer inform me that she was running behind ? If I was expected to call ahead to advise that I would be five minutes late, I don't understand why the same courtesy wasn't extended to me when the groomer was running behind. A quick text or call would have allowed for clear communication.
