Street parking was easy, greeted as soon as we got there and it kept going uphill till the end. Servers make you feel so welcome and the food, oh, the delicious food! We split two meals (sweet and savory). Omelette was so flavorful, super good caramelized onions! PANcake was warm, decadent and comforting. We will be back!

That said, I found the tables claustrophobically close and the accoustics extremely loud. Most tables were for 2, but we were seated next to a 3 top that felt uncomfortably close. That 3rd person at the table next to me, who had extremely long hair, swished her hair *over* my plate of food more than once. At that point, I asked for a box to take my food to go just to escape the rude patrons sitting next to me. While I found the food well prepared and tasty, given the street parking only, menu prices, loud accoustics, and dense seating, I would probably opt to go elsewhere. There are other breakfast restaurants I prefer. It pains me to say this, because breakfast is my favorite meal to eat, and I'm always seeking someplace new to try. What did I get to eat: a tasty omelet with greens, gruyere cheese, and bacon served with hashbrowns and toast. The omelet and hashbrowns were both 5/5. The toast was borderline burned to my taste.

Be prepared to drive a few circles before finding a spot. My coffees were perfect. The banana was a pretty faint flavor but that's all it needed to complement their smooth espresso. The matcha was also super easy to drink. You have to get a croffle when you're here. I tried the biscoff croffle and it was the best croffle I have ever had. I would pass on the banh mi panini next time, I personally like banh mi bread better than what they use here, I feel like it pulls it all together. Overall would love to come back and try more drinks and croffles. The inside space is gorgeous and open!

The day I went there were so many roads blocked off so I circled around a few times trying to find parking. No parking spots marked clearly for phe coffee so I wasn't sure where to park. I did see some paid parking but wasn't sure if that was for customers. My sister and I drove separately and met up there so thankfully she was able to find a spot close by and I parked far away and waited for her to bring me my order. Glad we were able to try it though. It's nice to stop in if you are there for the farmers market or saints game but not sure if I would drive around that area just to stop there due to the parking. I will stop by next time I'm in the area for something and try their other items.

I seem to be spending a lot of time in St. Paul (shhh, I don't want to lose my Mpls street cred)…read more This time it was to take an out of town cousin out for breakfast. Even though I had never been to the Colossal Cafe, they seemed to be just what we wanted. The cute cafe (Grand Ave location) is a cozy place and it was easy to find street parking around the corner, not far from the front entrance. We were able to snag a table by the window, so it was also great for people watching. My cousin ordered tea and I ordered coffee and I was pleased that they came by frequently offering refills. The service was helpful, cheerful and friendly, perfect for showing my New York cousin, what "Minnesota Nice" is all about. The food was excellent. I had the bacon, green onion and cream cheese omelet ($16) which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the toast with a side of orange marmalade. The omelet was well made (not always the case when I order at a restaurant) and the ingredients they added gave it a cravable taste. In fact, I was so impressed with this combination, I made it at home the following weekend. My cousin had the Greek Frittata ($15.50) with grilled marinated artichoke, spinach, green onion, feta and tomato. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the total a bit on the tad on the high side for breakfast ($45.88 before tip) this was a great place to have breakfast, chill, and talk.

Every booth has a little lamp light and just a nostalgic, cozy feeling. I ended up having a breakfast burrito with fruit and it was just perfect. It wasn't an overstuffed burrito and just delicious. Also, great fruit selection, not just (nasty) cantaloupe. The restaurant also has a great mission, helping those in need get on the right path. Would definitely stop in to support that alone. The food and friendliness is just a bonus.

If I lived closer, I'd totally hit this establishment up once a week! Walking in, you will encounter what was an older building that was at one point a manufacturing plant.? I really appreciated the exposed brick and plumbing by the ceiling. The walls are adorned with an eclectic array of trinkets and tchotchkes, which provide a visual distraction while one anxiously awaits their meal. Honestly, the whole vibe here is so warm and casual, I could really hang out here for a couple of hours. The menu is wide and varied. Everything is made to order and from scratch. Our party of 4 each ordered something unique. Two things that stood out to me were our breakfasts. The eggs, served sunny-side up, were perfect. The hash browns had the perfect amount of crisp. Their sausage gravy is almost as good as mine. The bacon wasn't a sloppy piece of pork belly that looked like a cut flower that wilted in the sun after a few hours. Everything was cooked just right. I do want to mention our server (Gabby?); she was so positive and attentive. I really appreciated her efforts. I am very much coming back here again...I strongly encourage you to do so as well.
