    Reusable cooler bags
    Shirley C.

Since the government is hankering down on people leaving the house due to Covid19, I decided to try food prep delivery service once again. This time Ai chose Fresh Prep. You can choose you're delivery day, either Wednesday or Sundays and your groceries will be delivered anywhere between 12 pm and 6pm. Today was my first delivery and I received a text to say my driver is arriving soon with an interactive map to follow his progress, a second text to say it's arrived and a third one to say thank you! Wow! So I ran upstairs to pick up the groceries and brought them to the kitchen to unpack. I purchased three meals for the week for four people. If you are a UBC alumni, you get a discount so my three meals this week cost me only $92! Score! The regular price is $128 and you have the option to add other ingredients and salads as well as fresh pressed juices. What a great idea! So back to dinner, everything arrived in a cooler bag with an ice pack and all the ingredients are in a brown paper bag individually packed into plastic sealed bags, which they would normally take back to recycle. Our first meal is Chicken Tiki Masala served on a bed of quinoa and raita. It took about the 30 mins required and tasted authentic! There was even enough for one more serving, which so plan to have for my lunch tomorrow I like this meal prep because unlike Chef's Plate, you don't have to chop up anything like the onions and ginger, garlic. There is some prep but not too much. It truly makes for a much faster meal experience which people with busy schedules would appreciate. I also like the fact that they have reusable sanitized cooler bags instead of cardboard packaging. If it weren't for a pandemic, they even take your plastics and paper to recycle too! If you're already subscribed to this service, try the Chicken Tiki Masala! Stay tuned for my other meal reviews from Fresh Perp!

When the pandemic started it had been a long time since I cooked for myself, and I decided this was a good time to start. In order to ease myself in gently, I decided to go with a food delivery service. Fresh Prep delivers all the ingredients you need, in the amount you need, and all you need to do it put it together. Most recipes take 30 mins, and are fairly easy to follow. What I liked: clear instructions, great flavours, lots of variety, ability to track the driver on an app, delivery windows that worked for me (I could not find any other meal delivery services that had drop off times that worked for me); feeling proud of cooking delicious meals for myself again. What I didn't like: carb heavy (although they sometimes have low carb options); frequent use of ingredients I don't like (cilantro (!), peppers, or potatoes); missing ingredients (twice); and late deliveries (for the last three weeks) outside of my chosen delivery window, which complicated things for me. I have cancelled my subscription for now because I am ready to fully cook my own meals, but I am open to using Fresh Prep again in the future.

I can not recommend this service enough. The meals are always inventive, packed full of flavour and something I wouldn't normally think to cook myself. The options for meals change constantly which helps keep me on my toes. The delivery is always on time and easy. The one hangup I had was the idea of the waste a service like this creates. However, they instruct you to return the packaging for ingredients so they can safely recycle them and the paper bags the food comes in can act as your compost bag. They offer an amazing intro to new clients that ranges to 2-3 meals depending on when you sign up so you simply can't lose by checking it out!

Really enjoy the smoothies and cold pressed juices as often as I can whenever I'm waiting for the 99 on sasamat. Green goddess is incredibly refreshing and makes me feel super healthy. And the berry smoothie is great when I feel like having something a little sweeter and it's all natural sweetness too! Recently tried out one of their fresh prep meals for a small party of 4 at home - the chicken and mushroom with toasted broccoli. The instructions were easy to follow and loved it how I got everything done and ready to serve in under 30 minutes. Plus the idea of toasted broccoli is genius!!! It was so delicious.

Shakshuka with pita bread - this was surprisingly delicious!

Tried Fresh prep early in 2017 but had to temporarily cancel service because they did not deliver in my area - it was a hassle having to ask co-workers to accept my order at work and put in refrigerator until I arrived the next day. But now they deliver to North Delta so I signed back! First and foremost I really like the variety of dishes they offer with the choice of being able to change them before delivery date. I would say I've enjoyed 80-90% of the meals delivered. Not only were they tasty but healthy and "fresh" too. Packaging is really good with all the ingredients cut up, measured and labeled. instructions are easy to follow and I found it fun and exciting preparing the meals and eating the finished product. I am also impressed by the attentive staff at Fresh prep who are always friendly and ready to answer any inquiries.

this was the worst meal ever; the ingredients are cheap. Not worth it! And the "to die for banana bread" is awful.

Boring, tasteless and sad portions!). I have been disappointed with many of the services in Vancouver until I saw real meals through a simple web search. Sarah makes all the meals herself, with help from her family. She is passionate about what she does, and she believes in keeping her quality consistent. We have made three orders so far for busy work weeks. The Shepard's pie is my favourite. The soups are hearty and great portions. We are happy with the quality of food, the delivery service and the ease at which we can order online. Finally, a food delivery service that doesn't get boring after one week. My only reservation is that they still have a limited menu, but I'm sure Sarah is working on it. Support this wholesome company.

I had never used a meal service before, so was unsure what to expect. The Good - Owner was amazingly pleasant. Great service, great on the phone. Food was like grama makes and everything is organic (if you care about that sort of thing). The Bad - After going onto the website and seeing some soups I'd like, I was let down by the unavailability. I'm guessing since it's a small family gig, they can't keep stock supplies up too high, but it was a real bummer not being able to get the stuff I wanted. Hopefully once they expand a bit this won't happen. Delivery was alright. She was a bit late from the scheduled time, but it wasn't like I was going anywhere fast. This service also comes at a pretty hefty price. The soups I would skip - almost $30 for a 2L tub of soup. I understand its a small family thing and they use organic, but... coming from someone who enjoys cooking... I would just make my own for a fraction of the cost. I would do the lasagna again however. Almost same price ($25 or so) and much more filling. Good to note - if you have a man in the house, disregard the suggested portion sizes. Their "individual" lasagna is only enough for one, not two servings.

Part 2 of 2: Some…read moredishes I quite liked, such as Keto Grillin' (my favourite), Macro Shred, Paleo Foody, The Sea Ghost, Vegan Pump, Italian Passion, Iron Macros, and Seaside Paleo; but the majority of the dishes were so-so and not worth ordering again, and the Globe Trottin' Keto was downright nasty (I don't know if it had gone bad, but it tasted somewhat rotten). Also, the wraps were awful -- dry and bland. I initially really liked the Daybreak wrap -- it was moist, cheesy, and flavourful, but when I ordered it again, it was dry and bland like the others. Conclusion: some of their food is pretty good (for the most part, they do steak, chicken, and potato/yam mashes well), but most of it is meh, and for $12.99 to $15.99 per meal, it is not worth ordering. And if I do find something I really like, I can't always re-order it because the menu changes every week. Despite being disappointed with the majority of the dishes, I decided to place an order last week. I ordered: my favourites Keto Grillin' and Macro Shred; Grecian Keto (chicken souvlaki with cheese and zucchini fritters, cauliflower hummus, and tzatziki), Those Thighs Oh My (paprika-seasoned chicken thighs, mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini, and red onion), T-Rex Goes Hunting (beef and broccoli stir fry over brown rice), and Sexy and You Know It (blackened chicken breast over pasta with sun-dried tomato sauce). The T-Rex Goes Hunting and Sexy and You Know It dishes were quite good (I'd re-order again), but I was disappointed with the Grecian Keto and Those Thighs Oh My. That being said, would I order from them again? Probably, from time to time. However, I will not be regularly ordering from them as there aren't always dishes I like, and when I try something new, the majority of the dishes are just so-so. Not bad, but not worth the price. Give them a try, and if you like their food, awesome! Note that they only deliver on Sundays and Mondays (you must place an order by Thursday of the previous week), and the delivery fee is a very reasonable $5 for orders under $100 (free delivery over $100).

Very strange flavors. Sometimes simply is better. Also, they forced you to pay a deposit for the cool bag. and when you stop the service literally you have to contact them multiple times to get the deposit back. The website is also very confusing. definitely they need some branding and some new people working in the team to give them a different perspective.
