My husband asked about it as we were passing by one evening and I explained the concept, i.e., an art class where you hang out, paint, and if you want, drink along the way. I decided that this would be a great activity for the 3 of us on Family Day. I was delighted to find that it was indeed open that day and so I booked. The class started at 7 but we were encouraged to come 20 to 30 minutes prior to settle in, get our aprons on, get comfortable with any snacks and beverages we wanted, and be ready to begin promptly at 7. When we came in, we were greeted by one of the staff who walked us through what to expect. There are cubbies to put your things away. The seating is somewhat snug so that's the way to go. Kids 13 and up are allowed to join in the painting. You can bring your own food, but not beverages. They sell a fair array of wines, beers, and mixed drinks, including their own signature drink, Dirty Paint Water. We had to try that! It's made with coconut rum, blue curacao, and pineapple juice. I'm not a huge fan of pineapple juice, but it was tasty. At $16 a pop though, we kept it at one drink apiece. They do offer a number of non alcoholic hot and cold beverages. The snacks are limited to a very few prepackaged items such as chips and beef jerky. I read on their website that they have a partnership with Domino's Pizza which gets delivered if you want to place an order. In any case, you don't have enough room or time to eat during the class, so it isn't a big part of the experience. The class itself lasts 90 minutes. The instructor stands on a platform with a sample painting to follow, and paints along with you as they go through the steps to create your own version of the finished product. They have a microphone but your classmates need to refrain from chatting or using the hairdryers provided (to help dry your canvas between steps) to ensure they can be heard by everyone. Our instructor was quite good at pacing the class between steps. They gave a short summary of their qualifications, and explained that the bar staff are also actually fully qualified instructors, so if you need any help or have questions, you can flag them down as well for assistance. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. At a couple of points during the class, we were given formal 10 minute breaks to allow our canvases to dry in between stages. It allows the perfect opportunity to use the washrooms (which were clean and roomy), stretch, and take a mental break, not to mention, grab another beverage! Our theme that night was Van Gogh's Starry Night. We learned how to divide our canvas, mix some colours, and use the 2 brushes provided to create the desired effects. She gave some hints on cleaning the brushes and thinning the paints to get the desired results. She also gave hints on holding the brushes and applying pressure to create additional effects. The cool thing about our theme and paints was that they are neon acrylics that show under black light. I wish they had that light somewhere in the studio so that we could see it! The few cons I experienced were that I noticed on their website after booking my spots, that I was entitled to a $10 discount for having a group of 3, but had to add the code given in the website description when I had booked. Idk why they wouldn't just automatically apply it when I'm literally booking 3 people in my group. When I'm paying $16 for one beverage once I'm there, I would have appreciated it that much more. Also, the quality of the paints made it difficult to get even coverage on the canvas, to which almost everyone had a hard time having the paint adhere/get absorbed. It is a great experience and I might go back if the fam is inclined to return. It's really cool to have your artwork be your souvenir of a good time. They sell frames you can put your painting in if you wish. They offer a newsletter and perks if you want to sign up and/or come more often. Prices vary according to the day of the week, as well as the size of your group. Be sure to look up the codes you have to add manually yourself at checkout if you want to get the group discount you're entitled to. The choices of subject matter are wide and have something to appeal to just about anyone. It would also make for a great team building experience for work groups. Something I'm definitely glad we did at least once!

The birthday person gets to keep the big canvas that everyone splattered on. Each individual gets their own splatter work of art on a big piece of paper as well. They also do other parties where you can actually paint something instead of just splattering paint. I would recommend this place for both kids and adults who wants to have some fun with paint. It does gets bit messy. But totally fun!

They had a decent size playground and a bouncy castle, separate section for food and lounge which was super nice. Every guest was able to spread out. When you first walk into the place, you were greeted by a sign to take off all your shoes. On your right, there was the splatter room - more for big kids to express themselves if they didn't want to paint. In the left part of the shop was the pottery area. There were many different selections to choose from. The kids loved this but were discourage about their selections since they were only able to choose from the 1st shelf to the third. However, they still enjoyed it very much when they started painting. In the back of the place, they also sell espresso and coffee. Some of us were waiting for a bit and then gave up. There was only two people attending to everyone so it was okay. Do come here, you will definitely enjoy yourself! TIP: do not wear white anything. Don't even wear white socks! Pieces to choose from ranged depending on the size of the figurine. There were different animals including figurines, cups, plates, piggy banks and something similar to a jewelry/keepsake box to choose from. - Cow figurine: 15.00$ - Pig figurine: 15.00$ - Mermaid figurine: 26.00$ These prices included the use of their space, brushes and allowed us to choose what colours to use to paint our figurines. There was no time limit either, I think we stayed for about two hours. The girl working there let my niece play in the play area as a party had just left, which was really nice of her. Anyway, we paid and she informed us they would call to let us know when to pick up our pieces. Approximately one week. She called exactly a week later and we picked up our items. We felt the paint was a bit thin so I guess next time we have to do multiple layers to have a better end result. The only con is the parking is limited and cramped. There's more in the back of the building though. Besides that, I would recommend this place, it's great for parents to bring their kids. It's such a fun and relaxing environment, worth giving it a try.

Dogs roaming around and very disorganized service…read more I don't know why the Liberty village venue did not mention anything about studio dogs on the website. We had someone in our group that was deathly afraid of dogs and when she mentioned it to the first staffer, they responded that they were studio dogs so I guess that they were trying to imply that the dogs had a right to be there more than paying customers. This finally got sorted out after my friend almost stepped on the dog because she was so scared and was about to leave the building entirely. The entire time they just kept telling us they were studio dogs. I mean if the dogs could have been leashed the whole time I don't understand why they weren't? I actually felt like the dogs were for the staff and were just an excuse to have them at their place of work but they were kind of distracting. Second, our instructor was quite okay but they had 1 instructor for our group of 10 and another group of 5 so it was hard to get a lot of help for amateur artists. This was a very bad and lazy set up for a place that charges over $70 per person. All in all probably one of my worst experiences in Toronto and I definitely would not be coming back for my birthday as I originally intended.

Hometown Stuntin'!…read more A great place for art nerds to nurture and hone their skills. All while, a warm and cozy place to chill and unwind from the stress of the outside world. Shoot, sometimes I just wanna stop by to play with Fei and Aaron's cute wittle doggies. hehe. The folks here are very understanding and caring, knowledgable, and truly artistic. Good pricing and a nicely structured curriculum. I really recommend this place for growing artists. But, that doesn't mean the novice should shy away. First time here, came for a birthday party…read more Parking is ok, along the back, theres about 9 spots. First impression of the place was very nice. All this art work displayed in the staircase, hallways, bathroom, workshop.. everywhere!! It shows the quality of art that is produced from this place. All the art displayed was impressive!! It actually is a cozy place. The workshop area is neat and tidy. I chatted with the owner - Fei , and she let me know that she has classes for every level and all ages. There are one day classes available on P.A days, and there are weekly classes, but anyone who is thinking of starting in one of the available programs can try a one day session to see what its all about. My daughter had a really fun time at this birthday party. She painted a butterfly and took it home. 4.5 stars for overall first experience. I'm sure, the next one will bump it up to a 5 !!
