Thanks to my Yelp reviewers, found this gem in Vernon! Came here with my family after having cravings for something "Asian"...this place did NOT disappoint! Growing up Cantonese in Toronto, I have been spoiled with high degree of great tastes and quality when it comes to prepared food in general, let alone Asian cuisine. We came here about an hour before closing and was glad we made it in to dine. Since this was almost 2 weeks ago, I forgot the name of the big dish we had, but we definitely had lots left to take home...along with pho and rice dish my husband had. If you enjoy GOOD Vietnamese food, this is a MUST, while in Vernon. We now live in Salmon Arm, but would definitely go back for their food. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Honestly sometimes I am just blown away! This was the case. In Vernon with my sick wife just wanting a good bowl of healing soup so dropped in here. Nice room. Better service. Hands down the best veggie pho I have had in years. The broth was outstanding. Wife had the rare beef pho and loved it. We shared the spring rolls that she described as her new favourite. Pho really has become part of the Mainstream Food Choices!! Continuing our interior BC road trip, our stop in Vernon really impressed us with all the different offerings! First is the Italian Kitchen, then Mahoroba Japanese, now Fresh Lemongrass!! You can really see how the overall economy is doing and where there is population growth by the kinds of cuisine the town has. Fresh Lemongrass is another great example, the interior is the newer style Vietnamese decor, with sleek lightings and more subdue color, also the seating are more spacious. Service is friendly and fast, we arrived at around 11:15 soon after they opened their doors at 11am. Food came out fast, first we have our: Salad Roll (Gui Cuon): freshly made and filled with shrimp & pork, lettuce and cucumbers are all very crisp and fresh! A good beginning! Pho Special: this is their house special with almost everything, beef meat balls, tripe, beef steak, flank, and chicken! They missed out tendon that day, but the chicken was the surprise here, it actually blended in very well, as I never had chicken in beef Pho before, but his is a very pleasant surprise! Pho noodles are cooked to perfection, and the broth has the depth that we all come to expect from a good Pho shop! Seafood Dry Noodles (Hu Tieu Pho Do Bien): Egg noodles are cooked to al dente and then drained, mixed with a soy sauce based sauce, this dry noodle has to be tossed well before you eat. Topping includes shrimps, squid, artificial crab. There is a bowl of soup on the side for you to mix in if you wish. Again a surprise for us to see this in Vernon, now that we know how the food quality has improved so much in the last few years, we will be travelling more through these smaller towns to experience more surprises! read more

I am writing this comment to express my extreme disappointment in this restaurant since I found a skewer stick inside my salad roll (no.1 item on the menu). Please see the pictures I attached with this comment. If you are planning to visit this restaurant, please be extra careful. From the outside of the salad roll, you could not see this stick. I found this stick before eating as I tried to share this roll by cutting this in half. As a customer, I expect the food served to be safe and hygienic, and this sharp object showing in my food is alarming, unacceptable and unhygienic. Specifically, what if someone has used this stick before, and the cooks put it there by accident; what if any child or adult is choked by this stick? This stick could have caused severe harm to me or anyone who might have ingested it accidentally. Finding this stick makes me question the quality control and the overall hygienic standard of the kitchen. It is unacceptable for such a mistake to happen, and I am left wondering what other lapses and issues might have occurred that I am unaware of. I came to this restaurant because of the good ratings and reviews on Google Maps, and I hope people will check their food when they visit here if they still want to go to this restaurant. When I was telling the manager about this incident, my experience was further compounded by the negative attitude of the manager. As I attempted to inform the manager about this situation, I was met with a dismissive and condescending tone that was both unprofessional and unwarranted. I felt belittled and ignored, adding to my frustration and disappointment. Particularly, the manager came up from the kitchen, asking, "Who, who complained?" I explained the situation to him, and he described the skewer stick in the food like nothing abnormal happened. He finally said sorry but with an angry and hostile tone as if it was my fault instead. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when I brought this food issue to the manager. It was unfortunate and unacceptable, exacerbating an already unpleasant situation. Summary: I will not recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. If you do, please check the food quality and hygienic control and you may expect to be treated poorly by the manager for any complaints. read more

My coworker and I wanted something relatively healthy to eat in Vernon and we're asian so we did some yelping and found this place. Of course, we didn't expect much because a) we were in Vernon of all places and b) we were the only asians in this entire packed restaurant at lunch. However this restaurant delivered some pretty good vietnamese food. I'm from SF so it definitely isn't on par with what you'd get in the bay area but still it was better than I expected. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with beef, pork, shrimp, and an egg roll with a side of beef broth. It was all very flavorful and the meat was well seasoned. It easily could've passed for a good vermicelli bowl in a large city. I also thought the soup was good but was a little on the salty side which is what I expected. Oh yeah and definitely check out their fresh squeezed juices. I got the grapefruit juice and told them not to add any sugar. It was delicious and so refreshing! read more

hungry in vernon and decide we needed some hot asian comfort food...found this place via yelp and decide to check it out. most places close at 7 or 8pm in vernon. we came thru the doors at 715pm and stayed till 830-9ish...with no issues. ordered 2 large bowls of beef and beef ball pho, as well as lemon grass chicken on rice... first of, the PHO! soup was good! order was big, bigger than those in vancouver. fragrant and flavourful noodles were al dente, lots of beef and balls...yum! not too much msg as we never felt thirsty. the lemongrass chicken was the disappointment here. dish tasted more like green curry chicken. no hint of lemon grass at all, and chicken not grilled or charred well. tasted more like thai curry. service was kinda slow too. tables who ordered after us got their orders first. overall i would still re-visit when in vernon. they have other entrees too like pad thai ( looked really good)! again, place closes at 8pm so come early! cheers! read more

We were driving through Vernon and had a craving for Vietnamese and a quick search on YELP led us here. It was the best detour we have made on this vacation! Thankfully we showed up just before the lunch rush, we sat down at 11:45am and by noon there was a lineup at the door. I had the prawn salad roll and the bun bowl with grilled prawns and pork. My wife had the house special spring rolls and the lemongrass bun bowl. The ingredients were very fresh and the food was prepared to perfection! When this place opened a few years ago, we were satisfied enough with what was offered by Pho Fusion. Having moved from Vancouver, we knew we just had to give up certain truly amazing cuisine, mostly of Asian origin. Couldn't believe our luck when Fresh Lemongrass opened its doors. The stock is most often the deciding factor on whether a Vietnamese restaurant truly deserves praise. You could tell immediately that this was the proper broth that was prepared from scratch for the better part of the day. I'm usually a raw beef and tripe pho kind of girl all the way, but my husband often mixes it up. Luckily, he ordered this incredible beef stew and it smelled so good I had to try it. Phenomenal! Strongly lemongrass in flavour with a nice sweet and spiciness to it. It's often been sold out, but lately, either I've been lucky with timing, or they've finally started making larger batches, I've been enjoying it every other time, alternating with my usual pho. I will come here with my family with three little ones, with my husband, or simply alone. It's easy to eat with kids and the owner always brings out the "good" candy for the kids and they love him for it. The water is the usual Vietnamese restaurant water with lemon. Their iced Vietnamese coffee is always my go to and authentically prepares with the dripper in front of you. The portions are generous and prices reasonable. Their salad rolls are a favourite with the family, along with the Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken udon, and the entree with pressed noodles. The only thing is they can't accommodate groups larger than about 5 at one table, as I did try to go with 11 people. No biggie if you're ok with sitting at different tables. Regardless, it's a must try if you're craving some Vietnamese yumminess, or warm soup on a cool day, or just tasty food. Probably one of the best restaurants in Vernon. Food is fresh, hot, flavourful, and incredibly delicious. I 'm not a big pho fan myself, but that's just me, so I can't really comment, but the bowls, rice curries, and incredibly, the Vietnamese style pork chop is delicious. Try the house spring rolls as well. The place is busy, but even packed, the food comes out quickly. Service is good and the staff are always friendly. large order was phoned in with an allergy specified on one part of the order. Allergy was not followed when food was made or picked up. Upon noticing the allergy error, the restaurant was phoned and the front staffed stated no allergy was stated and passed phone onto management. Management just continuously repeated that no allergy was specified to any of his 2 staff in a rude tone and nothing else. We have raved about this restaurant for years as it was our favourite but we took out of town friends last night and were very disappointed. Granted they were very busy with take out orders and we very very patient but after almost an hour an a half, we were embarrassed when our dinners arrived cold and somewhat charred and not up to the standard we were used to. Sitting patrons were apparently not given the same priority as take out people. Also it would be a lot more pleasant if the desk was moved to the front of the store so that sitting customers did not have to have long lines of take out customers racing by their tables while trying to enjoy their dinners. It is your typical Vietnamese food, but done well. Oddly their vermicelli was cut up, which has never happened to me before. Portions were decently sized and I was satisfied. Food here was wonderful, portions were large compared to the price. The restaurant was clean and well maintained, and service was very quick. Food tasted amazing - flavourful, fresh, hot. I went there last week, Aug.20,2018 for lunch, the waitress took our order and somehow the order got last and waited 45 min. and after I check with the waitress, she said the kitchen dropped my order, so we wait for another 30 min to get our order, so after 2hr and 15 min for lunch, nobody come to say sorry, so when I went to pay my bill, I told the cashier that I will pay no tip today, and she did not say sorry or anything,except confirm that the kitchen did drop my order, so is it my fault that they drop my order, anyhow the food is still good but the service from the waitress is very poor, no feeling what so ever, My advice is, do complain early and do not try to be nice if you want your order on time. 1 o'clock lunch crowd there was a waiting list of 4 people. It shows that it isn't a secret that it's a good lunch place. Our food it was fantastic tasting for a very good price I noticed the portions of all the other food around me was also very large portions for the price. The other people at the table were very happy with their food as well. I didn't find the heat to be very intense a "7" was not hot. my partner and i ate here one friday for date night, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! service was amazing, and the food was served quite quickly, especially considering the restaurant was at least half full. the staff was very accomodating in switching out the meat in my noodle dish for some tofu, as i'm vegetarian. most importantly, the food was really was really tasty. i appreciated the portions being bigger, as i was able to take some home for leftovers. love this little gem in vernon! p.s: the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce was the best i've ever had. read more

We tried Fresh Lemon Grass on the advice of a fellow at our new favorite Indian restaurant. We love Pho and already had a place we liked but we tried FLG anyway and are very glad we did! The food was great, very flavourful and the portions were large. The wait staff was attentive and fast moving. Judging by the number of patrons, other people feel the same. The prices are very good as well, our meal with a shrimp appetizer cost only slightly more than the popcorn and pop combo for two we had at the theatre earlier in the evening. We will certainly be returning and would recommend others do the same. read more

Tried this place out for the first time last week. The restaurant itself is quite lovely and the service was good. I ordered the pork vermicelli with spring rolls. The issue I had was with the meat, man was it ever salty, like so much so I only ate a few bites and had to chuck it. The spring rolls were good, not my taste but full of stuff and cooked perfectly. I was here a couple of days ago and had THE worst food and service I HAVE EVER HAD! Like words cannot describe how horrible my experience was. We waited 20 minutes for our food and a couple who came in after us got their food first. And get this, it wasn't even busy in the restaurant. When finally got our food, one dishes (the PadTai) was horrible as well. It was greasy, the pieces of meat where too big, the noodle s where over cook and mushy, and the noodles just slopped in the plate. You could tell the chef cooked pile noodles and pile another on top. When we paying for the food they didn't even ask if we wanted it packaged up. They not even once came and ask if our food was good or ask if we needed more beverages. And I have worked at restaurant as a server. Every 10 - 15 minutes you are supposed to ask how everything is going. It's sad because so many people told it was so good, but oh man were we ever wrong... read more

It is not the most appealing location from the outside; inside is nice, modern and simple. The food was affordable, tasty and the service was attentive. With 100+ menu items to choose from, the options can be overwhelming. Our server spent the time to describe and suggest meals that fit our taste buds. Have eaten at the Lemongrass on previous trips to Vernon. Originally found the place through good reviews. This meal - not so good as previous experiences. Perhaps dye to being in a bad mood as watched Canada lose the juniors hockey game while waiting for our order. As I was preoccupied with the hockey game, did not notice how long we had waited for food after ordering until my wife mentioned it was taking a long time. At about 30 minutes after ordering, asked a passing waitress how much longer. The food arrived shortly after but overall, more than 40 minutes from the time of ordering - the restaurant was busy but too long a wait for food from time of ordering. When the food arrived, I had to ask to get the fish sauce that was supposed to accompany my bbq pork, spring rolls and vermicelli noodles, so had to wait some more. Requested a knife from two different people and it never arrived. Used a spoon to cut up some pork for my daughter. As I started to eat, realized that the pork and spring rolls were cold. At no time did anyone ask, including when paying for the meal, how the meal was. As I paid, I commented on how this meal was not up to the usual par and indicated the reasons why. The individual serving me casually stated, "I will let the kitchen know". I did not get any sense of empathy or that she cared. As I was leaving, I thought, good business's want to know from their customers when they are not satisfied. I turned around and went to the individual who I had paid and asked to speak to a manager. In speaking to the manager, he seemed concerned but all he offered was that he would speak to staff. End result - not in keeping with a satisfying experience and the restaurant staff could do better in respecting their customers. read more
