In my opinion, this is a 5 star rating. Here's why this establishment is a 5 star rating for me. Dr. Vincent Ray gladly accepted my last minute appointment due to an eye infection. It turned out that my left wye was infected with a virus. I was glad to be seen with the upmost professional services during this vulnerable time. I was seen just before Thanksgiving so again, I was very thankful Dr. Ray and his team took the time to see me. Dr. Ray performed a thorough examination and took the time to find out what my symptoms were. After examining my eyes, Dr. Ray discovered that my eye was infected with a virus and provided my with the medication to be able to preform normal duties for my Thanksgiving weekend. I am currently at my follow up appointment to discuss anything else and see the progress of my left eye. I just finished up my follow up appointment. Everything went well and Dr. Ray thoroughly explained any concerns and details that benefits me for the upcoming future. In conclusion, I would love to establish yearly eye care with Fremont Eye Care Physicians !! I high respect this establishment and invite you to do the same. read more

I'm torn between giving them a very good rating and a very bad one. The very good part. They're good at what they do, ie identifying and working on complex issues with the eye. I regularly see very elderly patients with complex eye issues here. The very bad part. They're pretty bad at the total turnaround time. While they have improved significantly in making sure that patients get seen quickly by the staff, it's often the doctor who seems to be the bottleneck here. Perhaps, if they're seeing so many patients they need to increase the number of doctors available. Been waiting here for the doctor for over 30 mins. And was just told by the attendant that there are additionally two more patients ahead of me. I cannot be wasting over an hour waiting on a doctor. At this point, I've given up on this practice, and have walked out without being seen by the doctor. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend this clinic. I tried to reach them all day Friday to confirm my appointment didn't get a hold of anyone. They don't answer the phone took me a whole week to be able to speak with someone. and when they do answer they are very rude. They answered with "hello" and I had to make sure I was calling the correct place. I scheduled an appointment a month out. Never got reminder text or call or email. I went to my appointment at 9 AM, didn't get called back until 9:45 .. they put some drops in and still had to wait 25 more minutes .. patient rooms smell like urine. No one updated me on what was going on. I had my toddler with me. Dr. Ray was super nice sweetest man. Explain everything and answered all my questions. He doesn't decrece to work in a place like this. I understand things happen (I work in the medical field) but this was just not okay. First of all, I owe my eyesight to Dr. Anderson. I had a bout with Shingles in November 2021 that spread to the inside of my right eye. Shingles in the eye can be very bad. If left untreated, it can lead to blindness. Anyways, it is now June 2022, and I have been seeing Dr. Anderson for 7+ month now. At the peak of my eye issues, I was seeing Dr. Anderson every couple of days. Then it progressed to weekly appointments. Then changed from bi-weekly to every three weeks now. My eyesight in my right eye is getting progressively better. It has been a very long and frustrating road to recovery. I cannot thank Dr. Anderson enough for working me into his very very busy schedule. If I was to describe Dr. Anderson, I would say that he is very personable, knowledgeable, and patient. He is a good listener, and he always explains things very clearly. His front desk staff consisting of Alyssa, Hannah, and Rebecca have also been great about helping me out where scheduling is concerned. Thank you. On weekend coverage, Dr. Ray also helped me out via telephone call. I have nothing but good things to say about this outfit, and I would not hesitate to refer anybody to this place if they are looking for a great Ophthalmologist. One last very important message: Get your Shingles Vaccine (Shingrix). I was planning on getting my Shingles Vaccine, but I didn't look at it with a sense of urgency, until I got Shingles. I went here because my doctor wanted me to get a glaucoma screening and I also needed a new prescription for my glasses. The optometrist portion went well and she seemed to be thorough. I found the ophthalmologist to be very distant in his interactions with me but I assume he is efficient in his job. What I didn't like is that my prescription failed to include the prisms that I have used in my glasses for years. Because of that I have tried calling them to get an updated prescription and found their phone system is terrible. There is nothing on their menu to leave a message about an issue. I ended up pressing the appointment option and then I got transferred to another number and had to leave a message there. I am a "healthy" individual who came down with what I thought was an eye infection around the holidays. The urgent care physician diagnosed it as "pink eye", gave me info on UTI's, and sent me on my way. When my eye did not get better, I saw my general ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with shingles! After ending my 3 courses of antivirals, the infection rebounded. There was something else going on and I had to be referred out. Dr. Vincent Ray, is an expert in his field with great training. I just knew he would be able to tell me what was wrong with my eye. One vist= diagnosis of VZV Nodular Scleritis (extrememly rare). He ordered a complete autoimmune panel and confirmed I have rheumatoid arthritis. Who would've thought??!!! I have been in healthcare for 20 years and consider myself lucky having had the care I did. First visit: waited about 30 minutes in waiting room. Office staff and doctor kept saying "We're understaffed." Front office staff were rude to each other. Waited another 30 minutes in the exam room to see the doctor. Dr. Ray was aloof and seemed a bit arrogant. Quickly diagnosed and prescribed and described treatment. Did not describe the issue very thoroughly. Follow-up visit: Appointment time: 2:40pm Called back to exam room at 3:35pm Assistant touched my eye with tip of numbing dye eye drops (used for many patients). She also kept touching my eyes without gloves on to keep them open while checking the pressure. While waiting for doctor, observed more customer service issues. The women at the front desk seemed annoyed when patients checked in about when they would been seen (due to long wait times and no communication). They also sounded annoyed while taking calls from patients. Ended up leaving at 4:15pm after waiting for nearly two hours after my appointment was supposed to begin. When I let the office staff know I had to leave after waiting so long, she only stared at me. Called me 25 minutes after I left saying I need to follow up with an ophthalmologist, zero effort to make it right or keep a patient. Dr Ray is a young, professional and extremely thorough ophthalmologist. I am currently taking my mom in for a very difficult ophthalmology issue and I feel fortunate to have come across Dr. Ray. He has helped my mother so much and been so extremely thorough with her case. He will call me personally to discuss the new findings after conferring with his colleagues. This has made me feel in the loop and completely clear, having no confusions about her case. The best part is that he so greatly cares about her well being. I attend all her medical appointments and when we see Dr. Ray, I feel so comfortable knowing that he spends time on her case and then even takes the time to translate it to patient talking/explaining instead of using medical jargon that she may not comprehend. He even takes it a step further and speaks Spanish to her so she can feel that he is explaining things to her directly, mind you that Spanish isn't his first language. To take things even a step further, he then takes the time to turn and speak to me with all of the medical jargon so I completely understand all the details (I am going into medical school and work as a medical interpreter). I am leaving this review because this doctor is underrated, he is an absolutely incredible doctor and I feel so fortunate to have on my mothers case. I wish he was a primary care doctor too ! My mother describes him as being very warm, gentle, and easy to talk to. He doesn't rush us, he stays around and lets us ask questions and give us all the explanations necessary. I recommend this ophthalmologist to anyone that's looking for one, trust me - you're in good hands here. As for the staff, there are no complaints. Everyone is kind, friendly, and helpful. Most recently they brought in a low vision doctor for patients that suffer and are visually impaired. This doctor has the top Eschenbach products and is highly skilled to help seniors and visually impaired with some day-to-day tasks they've gone without doing for a while. I sat in doctor's office and Doctor is no where to be seen till 10:30. The doctor seeing me is the owner, and he has been sitting in his private office this whole while. The optometrist are OK but but as with any doctors office punctuality is not a priority. But my concerns and why prefer to drive to my previous optometrist in Salinas, CA. The following their Office staff are uncouth and they don't do in house billing. Also difficult to deal with when trying to pay. With previous optometrist they are able to do the following simple calculations. which is to calculate cost of my visit and my VSP Insurance coverage and cost of my glasses so can pay for my purchase immediately. But the staff is so inept they cant do this simple process that every other optometrist office has no issues doing. read more

And then, I contact their financial department, find out the reason because they typo my address. They tell me will send me a invoice in 10 days. However, I never receive the invoice. So I call back again asking for invoice, the financial dep asKing me to wait 10 more days.... and after half month, I still did not receive it! I call back 4th time, the financial dept give me a new direction- pay to collect agency! So I paid! My husband found Fremont Eyecare, through a referral almost 10 plus years back and he is very happy with Dr. Anderson and the practice. When there was a need for me to see an eye doctor, my husband promptly recommended Dr. Anderson to me. I met with Dr.Ray and he himself did a thorough eye exam for me, patiently without rushing me. Of course, when I need to visit the Dr office one more time, I choose to visit with Dr. Ray!! The Drs., Technicians & the front office staff are all warm & great and during this COVID pandemic, take all precious to see patient. I am very disappointed for this clinic. On November, 2021, I called to the office to scheduled for an appointment for February, 11 for my both Son. Because the technician needed to leave at 5pm, so she left the office without tell the next technician what's to do next steps, so we ended up finished only my older son. So lucky that my elderly parents live in Fremont so that they can have cataract surgery with Dr. Andersen. The doctor is professional, experienced, knowledgeable, and very friendly and respectful, especially to older people for whom English is a second language. Dr. Sweetnam the optometrist is equally pleasant and skilled. The office staff, including Kristy the surgery coordinator, are really nice, friendly, and know what they're doing! My husband has Dr Andersen for his eye specialist and I see Dr Ray for my eye specialist. I have been to many Eye Doctors in my 71 years and I have never had my "Many" questions about procedures that my husband and I have had answered to where I've been completely satisfied. We make appointments 6 months in advance and then they call to reschedule which are again a few months later.
