We opened a HELOC to make major renovations to our home. Initially, the loan agent was pleasant to work with. After the initial submittal we had more and more requirements that came up during and even after the close of the loan. Communication became very frustrating and inconsistent. I opened a HELOC with them 1.5 year ago. The introducing rate was good. However, it expires in 9 months. There is no fee involved when opening the HELOC. I have zero $ balance all the time. Recently, I tried to do refi and need to close this account. I was charged $691.50 for all the fees. Call them up and told I signed the disclosure doc. I guess it is my fault that I didn't read all the docs and I was never told that early closure fee either. So please be aware if you open HELCO with FB. read more

I saw that somehow this merchant has been reported as "CLOSED".  Just wanted to let everyone know they are not closed.  (Not yet, anyway.  Based on their actual dysfunction and resulting poor reviews, they may soon actually be forced to cease operations.)  Fremont Bank continues to provide subpar service even after I refinanced with another (truthful and responsive) lender.  They are still holding on to my prepaid escrow balance.  Take your money and run!  Run as far away from these people as possible.  There really are other more ethical banks out there more deserving of your time and money. read more

This branch has consistently underwhelmed in my almost three years as a customer here where I opened my fremont bank account. They have made me jump through hoops for simple transactions that other fremont bank branches have not. All other branches have treated me better than this branch. Satnam, the manager has no interpersonal skills which might explain the high turnover rate of the employees here. Well this bank no longer takes cash for deposit..unless you have a account there. Coming here for over 11 years depositing CASH into a person who has a account there..long standing account there. No notice was posting or even a verbal the last time I brought cash in...funny they didn't even tell the account holder. We took out a mortgage on our retirement home 18 months ago. No problems with the underwriting process. Our issue is getting mortgage invoices due the 1st of the month on the 30th. Worse, we do not receive invoices at all(Four times). I called customer service last week and was promised an emailed invoice, yet 4 days later, nothing. The review I posted for the Decoto branch should be for this Mission Blvd. office, but I don't expect big difference between the two under the same corporate umbrella. This is the worst bank I have ever been with. I moved to SoCal and was trying to close my account in Fremont. They told me the procedure is easy: 1. transfer out the money, so the balance is $0 2.call them to close the account. However, I forgot to call them to close the account right away, and they started charging me $6 daily (Note: per day) for overdraft fee. I was shocked when they send me a letter for the fee I have to pay; $24 for checking account, $5 for saving, a total of $29, when I call, one representative told me if I wire $29 to bring the balance to zero, then they will close my account, so I wire the money right away, but the next day I called, they told me the fee is charged daily, so I owed them something like $59. I was so upset, and they finally settled to take my $29 and closed my account. What a nightmare for just trying to close account with this bank. read more

CHECKING ACCOUNT BALANCES GOT WIPED OUT AND BECOME NEGATIVE. I have both Saving & Checking account for more than 10 years. The account status & balances had stayed the same for at least the last 5 years. Bank started charging service fee 2 years ago. The account balances got wipe out by service charges and turned into Negative balances by daily overdraft charges. After I reported to customer service & branch, instead of solving the problem (stopping the charges & restore my balances), the bank try to blame me for not opening account correctly (10 year ago), not reviewing statement monthly (The bank didn't even sent in statement monthly since no activity). After I ruled out their accuses, they still only give me back half of my money. If you have senior or relatives that have accounts with no transactions for a long time, watch out for the account balances. read more

FREMONT BANK RUINED MY CREDIT RATING. I was a long time customer in good standing with Fremont Bank. I thought I would be for years to come. However, my opinion has drastically changed now. For many, many years I had a great reputation with them and all my creditors. After developing a brain tumor last year I unknowingly got behind in my monthly payments. I recovered quickly from my surgery and got right back on track with everything. Fremont Bank was completely indifferent to my circumstances and would do nothing to clear their negative remarks from my credit history. They're big business and as such are not concerned about individuals. Other creditors were much more understanding about a situation I had no control over. Not a bank that I want to be associated with. Their customer service is also very unacceptable. They read from a script and refuse to even listen to what you are saying, having no idea how to answer valid questions. I have been tolerating this bank for a few years. Just using the ATM. The few times I go inside i am treated rudely and all i see is fake smiles. they don't interact with customers, they act as if your a pain in the ass by stopping them from doing other work. Every time I do need to go inside to handle a situation that has arisen, the manager is is too busy to talk to me. I have waited up to 30 mins for her to free herself up. This part is my personal feeling based on what I feel from my experience here. They are racists here I am a older white man and I feel so uncomfortable here. I am folding my accounts and moving on. As life is, some better than other, but what made a difference was the personal service that I got .Every dollar that my office made over twenty years went into this bank. I had rolled millions and the bank made a good profit. I was treated with respect and fair. Not any more. From the community bank that was in 1997 , now I do not know what they run? Yes Mr.Kim (Ken) Jones, a business owner needs to protect their investments and the bank will do well if it retains and service their clients.It is just fair. I do protect my money. What good do you do to the bank? As a diamond client, as the bank calls me, I expect diamond services. Will that be just right? First two refinances I did with FB went great. The last one was horrible. I kept getting multiple good faith estimates with different numbers on them, talked to 8 different people at the bank to get answers but kept getting different/erroneous answers. One guy even said "look at the document title, it says ESTIMATE doesn't it?" This refi took almost two months to complete. I won't be bringing my business back to Fremont Bank and I'm advising my realtor who originally referred me to steer all his clients somewhere else. read more

I highly recommend this bank for refinance. I refinanced several times as the rates kept going down. It is truly NO COST refinance as they claim. Courteous service. All by email that also I liked. Best service, best people, best bank! I was tired of BoA so I went to the Warm Springs branch for help. Once I stepped into the bank, everyone greeted me with a smile. I loved the Christmas decorations and the great free coffee! They really cater to service and want you happy. The little simple things are what make customers happy - free pens, mints, toys for kids, genuine helpful people, great positive attitudes all the time, and fast service. I wasn't waiting around for half an hour for someone to help me out like at BoA, I was helped right when I entered the doors! Stephanie helped me out with everything. She was a great impression for the bank since she had an overall bubbly attitude which seemed to be contagious because everyone was so nice there!
