Do yourself a favor and DO NOT waste your time with "Freezing Point Air Conditioning and its owner Rafael. They are cheating scammers. The guy that came to my house the first time, whose name was Ricky, looked at the coils of the air handler and told me that they needed cleaning. But, when he went to see the condenser and noted that the motor wasn't running, he gave me a quote for that. When I asked him about the dirty coils he would not give me a quote. He said that cleaning the coils was very expensive. I even told him to give me a quote and that I would consider it. But, he still didn't give me a quote. I told Rafael (the owner) that I did not understand why Ricky would tell me that the coils were very dirty and needed cleaning and later he said that cleaning the coils was very expensive and he refused to give me a quote for it. I explained to Rafael that I had told Ricky that I wanted the quote in order to determine whether or not I wanted to authorize the work because if it was necessary as he had told me that it was, then, I wanted to consider doing it even if it was not the direct cause of the air conditioner not working. Rafael only said that Ricky talked too much, which by itself means nothing, and he did not expand on his remark. I now realize that Ricky just had a trace of conscience and did not want to charge me for cleaning coils that didn't need cleaning and that, as he stated, was a very expensive job. But, if he had not found the real cause of the problem, he would have charged me for cleaning the coils, even though it wasn't necessary, and he would not have had any qualms about it. I told Rafael that Ricky had first said that replacing the broken motor would cost me $400.00 for the labor (my air conditioner is still under warranty for parts) and that, later, he raised it to $495.00. I, also, told Rafael that when I asked Ricky why he increased the quote by $95.00, he said that his boss (a.k.a., Rafael) had increased it. (I was with Ricky the entire time and I did not see him in communication with anyone by phone or text.) I asked Rafael if he would accept a payment of $450.00 and he said that I could pay $450.00 if I paid in cash or with Zelle. I almost agreed. But, I decided that I did not like that because I could not defend myself if the job was not done properly. So, I told him that I would do it with him for the $450.00 and that I would pay with a credit card. He agreed. Rafael sent a different guy to do the work. I do not recall his name so I will refer to him as the tech. The tech removed the motor with the encasing attached to it and off he went, supposedly, to the distributor. In the meantime, I called Rafael and asked him if the tech could give me a photo of the receipt. He said that he could give me a photo of what they give him, but, it's not a receipt. I said that it would be fine if he gave me a photo of whatever they give him. Then, when the tech gets back, he asked me if Rafael hadn't called me and I told him that I had called Rafael about getting a photo of the receipt. At this point, the tech tells me that the Rheem distributor was out of my motor but that he had an identical one in his van that he could give me. I said that I did not want the motor in his van and besides that, I would have to pay him for it and I did not want to do that when my motor was still under the manufacturer's warranty. I asked him how he got the motor in his van and he said that he got it from another customer that decided not to do the work. A minute or so later, as he was putting the motor back in its place, I said that I didn't understand how someone can agree to do the work with a company and after the part is bought change his mind. At this point, the tech did a 180° degree turn and said that the customer did do the work with him and that "as a matter of fact, he had replaced all of the parts." I couldn't believe my ears. I told him that he had just said that he had the motor in his van because the customer had changed his mind about doing the work. The tech did not back down from his new response even though he had just contradicted himself in a matter of a minute. I felt like I was in the twilight zone and I also felt quite disgusted. The ease with which this tech shamelessly lied to my face was not only insulting but it was also repugnant. I did not say anything else. He put my motor back in its place and left. I know that asking for a photo of the receipt given by the distributor saved me the headaches that I would have had if I had let the lying tech install the "motor that he had in his van," which probably would have been a cheap and refurbished piece of junk. In turn, they could have used the stats of my condenser, which they had, to get a brand new motor from the distributor at my expense. Rafael and his company, "Freezing Point Air Conditioning," totally wasted my time with his and his goons skimming and conniving. read more

Do NOT waste a second dealing with this non trusting company. An extremely disrespectful owner who only cares about money without customer satisfaction. He is at your home immediately when found through internet searches, to get your business, persuades to get a maintenance plan, then problems needing fixes with each visit, price gouges and no longer available after grabbing your money. I was no longer first on schedule after payment for service maintenance plan, he lied about my appointment time to replace BOTH inside and outside coils. I was furious as I lost needed income (esp for his high fees) while waiting for his techs all day to arrive. No apology, no compensation for my time and no response to my texts and phone calls. I knew he was available because he was communicating through his techs to me. But he went poof directly to me. I am writing this review as a warning to stay far away. I feel scammed by this business hoax. I wasted $4100 in one year to Raphael LAMBOY, the price gouger. No wonder, he prefers Zelle. I don't believe now there were huge problems with my AC and feel taken advantage of by this conman with huge fees. i have a mini-split that is a year old and it was leaking, freezing point came out and said it needed to be cleaned but they ripped me off, charged me $495 and said that included a $100 discount. Two years ago, after my current AC company at that time, told me how I need new compresor, I reached out to the Freezing point for a second opinion. They came and told me how it is not compresor and they can fix the issue. They fix my AC and charge me $900. 30 min. after they left my AC stop working. They came back next morning saying how it is compresor, and if buy from them they are going to apply credit of $900. I didn't want to loose $900 and I agreed. Two years after my AC stop working again. They came, said how they can fix it and charge me again $900. Two days after AC stopped working again. To no surprise, they told me after they came back for a second time, how my AC (7 years) is old and beyond repair. If I buy new untit from them they will apply $900. Obviously, realizing how it is well played scam i said no and ask for my money back. At no time, any of their technicians didn't mention possibility of AC being beyond repair. It was brought to my attention after they took money and had to come back for a second time. They refused to give me my money back. With a message history as a proof of AC working for only two days, they were telling me it was working for a week after first repair. Also telling me how I have been told by their technicians that my AC unit is too old and can't be fixed. If that's the true, why would I pay $900 to fix something what can't be fixed. Poor service and rude owner. First, they failed to properly diagnose an air handler that needed to be changed. They instead installed the wrong blower motor from a different manufacturer and way overcharged for it (they charge 40-60% more than other local HVAC companies). Second, their workers were smoking cigarettes while they were servicing the air handler. This caused my entire house to reek of cigarette smoke! The mini split install was reasonably priced and fairly well done, hence the only reason they don't get 1 star. Overall, I don't recommend this company. Improper diagnoses, overcharging, lack of care by employees, and unwillingness to stand behind work that was paid for. read more

This review is based on my experience interacting with this company. I will never recommend them to anyone. I have used this company for over two years. I paid for the maintenance plan and everything was well until I had a problem with my AC. Poor diagnostics skills: first they told me there was a leak on the coil, then there was a leak on the lines. I requested to do it again and had to keep spending days without air conditioning due to inconsistencies. Unfinished job and no answer for it. Installed new lines and did not installed filter dryer. Fortunately I realized myself the mistake they made a couple of days latter and made them aware of it. I had to wait over two weeks and lose another day at work for them to come and do the proper thing even it was already paid and they did it wrong. If I wouldn't t have been paying good attention to all of this things, I would have probably ended up with a burned compressor due to acid build up without a filter. Poor customer service skills, at one point I had to kick out of my house one of the employees for rudeness. After spending $1990 in less that one week, when I expressed my dissatisfaction for the multiple inconsistencies I did not get an apology, what I got was Rafael saying he was considering not working with me anymore since I keep bringing up the problems they have had. Really? I treated everyone with more you can expect, offered them food and water and supportive and friendly environment. Still I got a crappy job done. read more

I found Freezing Points sticker on my unit so I called. They sent out a technician and immediately said my unit was out of warranty and that it would cost me 3k to run new copper lines. I called a second contractor for a second opinion and they pressure tested both units in front of me and it kept the pressure with no problem. Absolutely horrible from the moment the Tech arrived. He only spoke spanish and I only speak english... so immediately there was a language barrier issue. To make matters worse he immediately proceeded to rip my brand new Allergenic Filter out destroying it within the first 5 minutes of arriving. I attempted to step in to stop but again language barrier. Then he was on the phone for about 50% of the call not sure who he was speaking to, but he seemed to be confused. Then he had someone call and tell me the thermostat was bad which was just put in less then 2 years ago. He also then proceeded to remove my thermostat of the wall and inmediately started unconnecting wires in which many labels fell off of. Again I attempted to stop so I could take a picture of how things looked but language barrier and he did it so quickly. I was told the thermostat was bad and that they would change it for $150. I have a good knowledge of connecting these units from my years of military and volunteer services of homes basic enough to connect a unit. However he left my house so quick and left wires exposed and possibly others in the unit disconnected. I attempted to call immediately and text 3 different numbers multiple times in which I was communicated by dispatch before the service. I recieved no responses but a text the next morning. In which they refuse to answer my calls or recognize the issues of lack of communication and the mess that they left behind. The only response I get, is they wouldve replaced it yesterday and now it would be a service call of $125 to even help me identify the wires that they unmarked in their work the day before. I also sent a photo of a possibly disconnected yellow wire (typically AC color) from inside the unit that perhaps the tech disconnected. The only response I get is I wouldn't do that you couldve had us. Long story short... I have bought a brand new possibly unnecessary thermostat with extra problems that didn't exist before their visit. Horrible communication on their behalf or lack of and inability to have any sort of service recovery, especially during Covid-19 in which we are all at home and I am here with 2 toddlers. I would expect better or at least a possible personalized phone call to follow up and address my concerns. Not the impersonal antagonizing texts told you so's that don't provide any means of open communication. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Promised 10 year guarantee on some parts and that the unit would be registered with manufacturers of unit. Unit was installed end February paid in full. This a/c company is awesome! When our a/c broke in the hot summer we called them and they came out within half an hour. They examined our a/c and gave us two options- repair or replace. We opted to replace the unit. That same day they did the work. They worked until 11 pm to insure we had a working a/c that day. They were hard working and professional. A couple of tiles on our patio were accidentally broken with the weight of the a/c. They paid for us to have them replaced, no questions asked. They cleaned everything up and left us very happy. We have had a/c issues almost every year, this was by far the best company we have ever worked with. Rafael is awesome, he runs the company perfectly! This company absolutely ridiculous. I believe it may be a scam too. We contracted them early of the month to have our air conditioner replaced. The owner Rafael informed us that it would take only 3 to 5 days to get the permit approval. After a week, we checked with them they said no permit been approved yet due to the City problem, they could not control it. After two weeks, still no confirmation. Talked to them again, they said gave them another week. Long story short, we had given them almost a month, called and messaged them, no reply and respond. Finally I had to call to the city myself to find out that they never apply the permits, there had no information on our air condition replacement application. That really pissed us all, we are not only asking for refund but also we are requesting our compensation. As this is a rental unit, this company has been holding us up for a month especially living in hot weather, Florida. I was very pleased with the service that I received today from Freezing Point. Alfredo was my technician and he came to my condo in downtown Miami right on time as promised. He was here to do a tune up, but he showed me everything and explained what he did. The cost was half of what I was used to paying in prior years to the other company. We are going to buy a boat this year, and I want to store it in our back yard. I have the perfect spot for it between my house and my neighbor. I honestly was not expecting to have any repairs done on a Sunday but Rafael actually answered the phone and was at my house within the hour. When I requested a quote from Raphael, he phone me immediately. After his tech cut up my ceiling and replaced a duct... in less than an hour after the tech left my home, the leak started again. I phoned Rafael too many times, I texted him and begged him to call me, he would text me back that he would call me in a bit etc. after hours of this I just decided not to do business with professionals who do not even show me the courtesy of a return phone call. Especially after his employee install the duct to prevent further leaking and the leak started up again in a very short period of time. When I texted Rafael to cancel his technician the following day because I do not do business with people who do not show me the sheer courtesy of a return phone calls, he then had the time to write me a long text begging me to give him a second chance. I realize this company has excellent reviews but I would never use them nor would I recommend them. They are very quick to get your business, then when there are problems, Raphael ignored pleas to return his client's phone call. Very disappointed. read more
