Mostly it's visited by people who live around it. While here you can visit the community P-Patch, which is basically a garden, and you can have a picnic. Cool story about how the name of it came to be. It's located on 5th Avenue N on a big hill. This street used to be one of the main trolley lines from 1890 to 1940. Basically that's how it came to be. The park has a few features worth checking out. One of these is a natural play area. This is a good place for children to explore nature and to of course play. Also there's a community garden. The P-Patch is used to grow flowers, food, and herbs. Has a lot of benefits for the community. It's a mostly quiet but enjoyable park. This is good for chilling, gardening, and whatever.

This was such a strange little park…read more Although it does boast a community garden and quite a bit of seating, google says there should be more to the park and an accessible small path to the greenbelt. While at some point it must have been a path, it doesn't look to have been recently attended to and seemed washed out and overgrown. Where Streissguth Gardens was very much a hidden gem, Trolley Hill Park was overall a bit of a let down. If you're in the area it's not a bad place to stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Come and take a quick "walk" around while you go along all the other neighborhood parks you will be visiting. Just go through the door. I'm guessing not too many people know about the place. A cross the street next corner you'll be on a good viewpoint of the city. On summer it would probably be a bit dry. Just sit on the bench and take a look and breath having a nice time :)

Reading the other reviews, apparently this is pretty new, completed within the past 9 months, and provides a direct path from the market area to the piers, while simultaneously adding seating, and a place to stop for views of the water and the city skyline. Seems like a welcome addition to the area and worthy of stopping by for a gander if you're in the area.

Woodland Park is more than 90 acres and takes up a few blocks in the Green Lake and Phinney Ridge neighborhoods. A lot of outdoor activities to do here. There's baseball fields, a dog park, and trails. Cool history about how it came to be. It's been around for a long time and the neighborhood pretty much grew up around it. This was originally the estate of lumber mill owner Guy C. Phinney. After he died it was bought by the city. In 1902 it was turned into one of the city's parks. Basically the park has two halves. The eastern half has baseball fields, a dog park, horseshoe pits, lawn bowling, a picnic area, a pitch and putt golf course, a skate park, and trails. The western half has the Zoo. In 1925 a memorial was erected for late President Warren G. Harding. Just a couple years earlier he made a speech here to the Boy Scouts. It was one of the last speeches he made before he died. The memorial was later demolished, and the site is where the African Savanna exhibit is today. Of course there's many animals to check out here. The rest of the park also has many birds as well as beavers and coyotes among other species. Getting here by a bus is a good idea. It's got a few that go up Fremont Avenue and the other streets. The most popular thing here is the Zoo but there's plenty of other things to do here like playing baseball, jogging, and whatever.

What could be termed as sculptures but are really just more metal cages with stones in them, soar above you. They're not pretty and there are no vines or plant life on them, so they just come off as strange and unfortunate looking. Thomas C. Wales Park was utterly empty when we walked through (midday during a weekend), and my assumption is the off-putting design of the park makes visitors not want to spend time there. Maybe in 10-20 years when the plant life has overtaken the cages it will be easier on the eyes, but for right now? We walked through once, commented on how ugly it was, and continued on.

Thomas Street Mini Park was practically across from my old digs on Bellevue Ave, but I never really spent anytime there. Just passing through. This park is small, but beautiful. It is an urban park surrounded by apartment buildings. This is a nice park to play with your dogs or get a sun tan when it is sunny out. The park has huge hilly and grassy mounds which makes sunning here ideal. There is a bench and some seating areas here which make it a good spot for a meal outside. It has also got some beautiful tall trees at the edge of the park. While it is a small park, it is great for what it is intended to be which is an urban respite. It gives the community a place to retreat to when they inevitably get stir crazy from being in their apartments too long.
