My FAVORITE park, it's less than a mile from home. It's very family friendly, has a skate park, volleyball, basketball, softball fields, batting cages, kids carnival, a fishable pond, soccer fields, vending machine, and a running trail around the park. Lots of Gilbert events are held here. It's a nice place, especially when weather is nice out. read more

Park nirvana. Beautiful well-kept place with awesome waterfowl (each time I go I see egrets, little black vultures standing around with wings spread, and of course a million ducks). Gilbert allows feeding them grains, so we bring cracked corn or "duck and goose blend" from Petsmart, and they love it. It's a quackfest and the bigger, bolder ducks will eat right out of your hand. Just don't feed them bread or other human food, it's bad for them and for the water. read more

I love freestone park. It's right behind my neighborhood and its a place that I can always take my family for a nice walk or to play sports. We have played softball, soccer, football, kickball! It's got a great layout of fields that can even allow multiple families play different sports because they are so big. They also do a concert series that are always really good. We really enjoy going to those as a family. Oh and they do a 5k turkey trot that we do every year. That's always well organized and tons of fun. It's become a family tradition to run that every year. The whole family even gets together for that. All because of the park. read more

This is a fun park to attend with kids but the one parking is sooooo far from the actual park you have to trek down a huge hill and back up which sucks. Especially because they are doing construction so the sidewalk is closed so it's literally your only way to the playground unless you park and walk clear over but it takes so long. read more

This is a lovely place! They have a train kids can ride on the weekends and a mini carnival area, the landscaping is beautiful and while it's normally crowded it's big enough with room to roam. The playground is covered and has that nice soft rubber padding on the ground. Being able to see the ducks swim is refreshing and very peaceful. You can fish in the water but we haven't tried that yet. The pond is supposedly well stocked, I will update my review when we do fish. If you are looking for a nice place to take the kids or the puppy, I feel this is a great one. read more

I have never been treated so poorly by any service industry in my life. I've worked in service & I know how it can be, so I really try to be understanding, but from the moment I booked with Freestone Park, I had nothing but trouble. I knew I should have taken the hint & just cancelled when I had to call 3 times & follow up with 3 emails to try to get a confirmation on the party time for the invitations I was trying to order. Since it took 6 weeks for them to finally get back to me, & they left a rude message, I had to reorder the invitations for my son's 1st birthday party. They never even called to confirm colors, rsvp, or anything till the night before the party, at 6:10pm. When my husband & mom showed up to set up a little before the party, they were rude & wouldn't help with any setup. I got there 10 mins later & nothing had been set up yet... we had to do everything ourselves as they bombarded me w last minute questions (which should have been asked before the actual party, & some were repeats from last night's call) & asked me what time I wanted the party guests to go on the train ride.& since we brought cake, we probably don't want ice cream... [wait, what? Why wouldn't we want ice cream w cake?] "Let's stick w the ice cream. Thanks!" The party was at 1, so I picked 2:30 for the train ride so we could get back in time to clean all our own stuff up. She said that was a public time & just make sure we were there 5 mins prior. Cool. But then the girl came up to me asking of we could move it to 2:45 & had the manager come over, too, while she asked (who was barefoot... random), but ok. So we had to replan cake time for before. Then I proceeded getting the birthday guests fed. Not 10 mins later she comes back & says 2:30 is fine because if we do 2:45 we won't have enough time for cleanup. Ok. Then at 2:08, she came back asking if we could change it to 2pm. I informed her it's a little late for that... & she said ok, do I want to keep it at 2:30 or 2:15; I opted for the original 2:30 because then we could do cake before (& I didn't want the guests rushing to the train right then & there thanks to her impeccable planning), which would be like, now. She took 5-10 mins bringing the cake out, meanwhile I was told by the barefoot manager that some kids in the party were feeding ducks & that "ducks will die if they eat food" to which I told her, "ok, so go tell them"... because honestly why am I doing everything myself when we're supposed to have a party coordinator? I was busy organizing the stuff for the cake. I didn't say the last part, but I was starting to get annoyed. Finally had the cake out & we sang happy birthday to my son at about 2:16, she brought out the ice cream as I was cutting cake like a mad woman & said if we want more ice cream, just knock on the glass & she'll grab us more. 1 guest went to ask for 1 more cup instead of a bar & she was too busy eating salad at the moment to help. Then it was 2:26 & she said don't forget to get everyone over to the train 5 mins before 2:30 so she could make sure our whole birthday party got on the public train ride. So I said, that's like, now! To which she sheepishly replied oh yeah... I guess it is, & we rushed over. & of course she didn't get half the birthday party on the train. & then the other party person in charge of the train said "well, if you wouldn't have changed the time so many times..." EXCUSE ME?!?!?! I told her "no, the girl kept changing the time ON ME!!!" & she said "that's not what she told me..." I was beyond livid at this time but they didn't seem to care & talked trash to the birthday party left behind (who could now finish their cake, I guess) about how I kept changing the time & I was rude. Yeah, cause you're screwing w my kid's 1st birthday now! Not only does it NOT matter whose fault it is, but make it right! That's all I wanted. They wouldn't even sing happy birthday to my son & then the barefoot manager was the only one willing to "work with me"... basically doing nothing but complain & hand me my bill while I was cleaning up. Because no one literally asked or bothered to lift a finger the whole 2 hrs we were there other than carrying out our cake & giving us the ice cream. I was running around the entire time replanning every minute & the whole party felt rushed to my guests & I because these people couldn't get their acts together. Literally the worst service I've ever had there. So disappointing. One friend asked for the party coordinator's name, but the manager refused to give it so she asked for her name (& if there was someone above her); she said her name was Sarah & there was no one above her. My friend said "no director or owner?" To which Barefoot Sarah replied "nope, just me. Deal with it & don't come back." Everyone was so shocked by their attitudes & abuses. Lazy, disrespectful, and just awful people there. read more

This is the perfect place to go for a leisurely stroll, or a small child's big adventure. There are little people rides (8 and younger), ands pretty neat little train that takes a tour around the park. The park itself is picturesque, and relaxing. read more

Wow. What an amazing experience. Saw some ducks. Made some memories. I could not imagine this night without the necessary ambience of Freestone. Thank you Freestone park for being so exceptional. I lost two foot races, but gained two friends. You win some ya lose some, but in this instance I won it all. Thank you freestone. read more

Just as good, if not better then I remembered. Huge land with seasonal train, batting cages, fishing, bbq/ramadas galore, skatepark, and beautiful views. Great way to spend a day with the fam. This is one of the best parks in the metro Phx area. Make sure to get a permit before you fish though! Also, there is a wonderful bird preserve not even a mile from Freestone called Riparian Bird Preseve. fishing their as well! Great family area, check it out! You won't be disappointed! read more

Freestone Park - One of the many beautiful areas at Freestone Park. - Parks Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

I love this park. I went for the 1st time yesterday. But they've got a ton of play structures and a mini amusement park. It was awesome. The "amusement park" workers were great, one had a bad attitude, but generally they were wonderful. The rides and food aren't that pricey and if was a great time. I would 100% recommend this park to everyone. read more

This park is beautiful! My son and I just had a photo session here and it has some amazing backgrounds for pictures. The lake, waterfalls, bridges, trees, it has a little bit of everything. It has a cute little "play" area for children, it has a carousel, a train that travels through the park, little boats and a tiny ferris wheel. You do have to buy tickets to ride the rides, but it's not too expensive. You can get a sheet of tickets for like $16 and that is enough to go on all the rides a few times! It is a cute little place to take your little ones. It is quite large so there is enough space for anything you're looking to do. There was a huge birthday party on one side while we were there and a wedding going on on the other side. I will definitely be going back to enjoy an afternoon with my little fella! read more

One of my favorite parks here in the valley!!! Awesome for kids and all ages!! Great place to workout!

If you are looking for a place to go to hang out with your boyfriend, husband, friends, or as a family, Free Stone Park is the place to go. Free Stone Park has a lot of outdoor space to sit or play. The person who created the park made it fun for all ages. For kids they can feed the ducks, take a train ride, play on the playground, also there is a mini carnival. The mini carnival includes a small fairest wheel and a carousel for the little kids. For adults there is a baseball field, batting cages, basketball court, tennis court, and a volleyball sand court. There is also a path around the whole park for adults who want to run, walk, or bike ride. The park also includes a few ponds throughout the park to go fishing in. The park was full of people celebrating birthdays, Easter, and even a wedding was going on during the day. For those who would rather be alone this park isn't for you. Although there is so much space at this park that you can find a place to be alone. Like I said earlier a wedding was going on at the time I was there and there were a lot of people attending the event. Even with all of those people from the wedding, the park still did not look too crowed or too full. Another thing about this park is that you will see a lot more families rather than couples and small groups. So you will be hearing screaming kids and see kids just running around. But you can get yourself away from children that by getting away from the family areas such as the playgrounds and the mini carnival areas and going into the grass area. The grass area has so many trees to sit at which is great if you would rather isolate yourself from other groups. My boyfriend and I walked the path twice around the park, which took us about 10 minutes to 15 minutes to walk each time around. So in all we walked for about a half an hour. After we were done walking we sat down under a tree for a while and talked. It felt good to relax and be ourselves and most important was to have fun. The weather was amazing that day it wasn't too hot but not too cold. So on that day I put on my favorite summer dress. We also went on a train ride that took you around the park, which took about five to ten minutes max. The wait for the train ride wasn't that long either which is great for impatient children. The train rides are also great for kids because it gives them a chance to relax and watch from inside the train to explore the nature outdoors. Free Stone Park also has its own Recreation Center. The center is about 50,000 square feet.It includes a climbing wall, four racquetball courts, fitness/weightlifting room, large double gymnasium, sauna and steam rooms, locker rooms (men, women, and family), two aerobic rooms, game room, and an assembly room (Parks and Recreations). There are plenty of fun things to do as a family, with friends, or if you want to be by yourself. "Freestone Recreation Center." Town of Gilbert, Arizona. This is a great park. It has a lot of room and a lot of open grass areas. If you are looking for a place to use your Summer Sled or go Ice Blocking, this is the place. The hills a steep and long. Great park to bring the kids to. They have 2 ponds and a small waterfall connecting them. Both ponds house what seems like over a hundred ducks of all feathers. Bring some whole grain cereal to feed them. The signs state to only feed them certain foods. We brought bread but it wasn't on the list. Oops! The ducks seemed like they didn't mind but the cereal would go much farther. They also have a train and small rides that must be open in the summer l. They have a couple of nice playgrounds and plenty of room to let the kids run and play. It was a nice find for a family of tourists. read more

This is a great place to park if you are going to run the Power line trail which is at the south end of this park, this is a multi-use park which is huge. I'll let the other reviews talk about the park as a park for kids since mine are older. as a runner it is a good park to start a run from heading East and West on the Powerline trail, this is also where the 12K's of Christmas starts and ends each year. High School kids come here all the time for pictures before Proms - it is a good park for that. Some HUGE hills for the area - OK, huge depressions in the ground that you can walk down into (there is a difference), The water fountains work which means you can refill a water bottle here if you are running! read more

This is for the rides only! We are here now and it's a hot mess! The guy for the train is nice but that's about it! First of all I was misinformed when I called they said they would honor my coupon on my phone for the buy one get one free wristbands! WRONG! I got here and the girl at the window says let me check and checks back with someone extremely rude! They don't accept my coupon! Then the chick charges me wrong I pay then she comes back and says I charged you less this is the difference you need to pay! Ok not my problem! They make a huge deal out of it and so I pay the difference only to find out they refused my 2 yr old and my two 8 yr old nieces on a ride because they gave us the wrong wristbands! They didn't give me a receipt and so I had nothing to prove that I paid for the $13 wristbands! It's complete bullshit and a waste of money save your time and your money! The rides are a joke! The park in general is nice and clean and well kept! The people/ company who are running the rides are a bunch of inbread morons! read more

It's kind of over rated. Sorry. The playground is nice but so dirty. The hand rails on the steps had caked on dirt from kids grabbing it. I mean I get it, it's an outdoor park but that grossed me out. And the amusement park was a joke. And I spent $20 for four of us to ride the little train. It wasn't worth the price but my kids enjoyed it so that's all that matters. But the other rides looked like they would break down at any moment. The ponds are being renovated too so that was a bummer. Perhaps it's nicer when not under construction? I don't know.
