Upon arrival, Joe and Connor got us fitted with our safety vests and our kayaks and then gave us lessons on how to use the paddle, get in/out of the kayak and provided general navigation and waterway guidance; from there we were off and loving life! We kayaked in Cold Spring Harbor just behind the lab and had an awesome time. It was so relaxing and quiet as we glided across the water. Joe led us in the front and Connor picked up the rear so we always felt safe and in good hands. Since this was our first time, we opted for a 1hour lesson/tour and Joe told us that most of his customers, at the end of the tour, say they wanted more time. We all felt the same way and can't wait to go back. If you're thinking about kayaking... go for it and definitely do it with JK Kayak & SUP. You won't be disappointed. Not worth the price…read more We were charged 30 dollars per person for a 45 minute tube float that was advertised as 2 hours. The tubes were very dirty and of poor quality, as was the shuttle. The really frustrating part was that the owner lied to us about where the public accesses are when there is one beside their establishment and the place we were dropped off was public as well. We had our own inflatable kayak that was easy to transport and having heard that there were no nearby accesses we asked if there was any way that we could use our own and take their shuttle and they refused. The river was very slow and was not at all like a rapid it was more of a lazy river. The only positive thing about this experience was our shuttle driver who was honest with us about the access and was very kind.

We paddled to Paddy McGee's (a waterside restaurant in Island Park), & had a wonderful lunch - along with a much-deserved drink - which made the short paddle back to the Long Beach Boat Ramp/Marina a breeze! They gave great information upon booking the reservation on the phone. Parking was very easy but depending what time you go I'd go sooner for parking! The women who checked us in was very sweet. She explained everything to us. She told us where to go and how to stay safe. The man who got us on the boards was equally as nice. He gave us a quick course on how to use the boards. The boards were much easy than I thought. I felt secure and got the hang of it pretty quickly. We paddled to an amazing area with a waterfall and past some beautiful houses and shoreline. I loved that you could kneel , lay , stand and just float in the water. It was definitely a fun day and I can't wait to do it again.

After weeks of failed attempts to make contact I decided to email them. After several back and forth emails over the course of a few days (they only send responses in the middle of the night) I requested someone call me directly to book an appointment because I was told that time slots available on the website were actually NOT available. I never heard back despite continued follow up. When contacting Groupon to put in a claim I was advised there were many complaints for the same reason. Don't waste your energy.

The owner, Craig, gave us tips on things to do in the area. He also gave us a group discount since we had 7 people on our group. I also appreciated that he suggested we do 1 hour (rather than 2 hours) - from his experience 1 hour is enough for kids....and he was totally right! Instead of pushing us for an option to spend more money, he provided great advice that was right for our group. We had a great time, and it was beautiful, but 1 hour was definitely enough. The pricing is set per person. One suggestion would be to price differently for single versus double kayaks, which many places do (with a discount for double kayaks).

One of the trips was the best fluke fishing I have ever been involved in, with both big fish and a large number of fish being caught. Capt. Mike made good use of his knowledge of the fishing grounds and his array of electronics to put us on the fish time after time. On one of the trips I was fishing with two young cousins and Capt Mike and the mate were very patient with the boys, showing them how to fish and making it a great day for all. I was tired of groups where people just wanted to paddle and go home. Here, day trips always have a Happy Hour tailgate party where folks share snacks and stories. I've heard the camping trips are fantastic. I was afraid to sign up when my skills were new, but the instructional weekend keeps giving...people keep coaching and helping. Or, you can also be in a tandem canoe with an expert. That's how I broke into moving and whitewater adventures. Best sport I ever did...and I"ve done a lot...because this group is so professional and warm.
