Going Whale Watching
Renee B.

Here's the Scoop: Beautiful sunny day for this outing. Captain Lou's boat has 2 decks and a wonderful staff. We sat on the lower deck with a group of friends. As the boat begins to move out into Long Island sound the breeze and views are so relaxing. There's a small galley where you can purchase hot dogs, chips & drinks. You can also bring your own food in a cooler. Our Captain was excellent because he gave us everything offered on his flyer. Prices are reasonable, it was $30 p/p with our group but normally $50 pp. He knew just what areas to take us do that we could get pics. We saw many whales and dolphins it was a beautiful sight. I enjoyed this immensely. I recommend going on this excursion. When we returned to the Nautical Mile we had dinner at one of the restaurants on the water. As sunset, We ate seafood dockside and it felt as though I was vacationing somewhere. Unfortunately my phone died from all the whale pics so I couldn't Yelp where we ate but I will go back and do that because the food was delicious!!!! I recommend going on a whale watching tour it was awesome to see these beautiful mammals up close.

World class crew and boat. Get down here and fish! Go see Capt Willie, Saul, Kenny on the Capt lou and get your fish. Always there to help out and make sure you have a great tripz been going here many years and looking forward to many more trips in the future! Ps they are also making sure everyone is 6ft apart and social distancing! Tight lines!

Big crowd for such a cold day

This review is for the seal watching tour. First, I had no idea there were so many seals in the waters off Long Island. OK, yesterday, the day we went was fridged, I mean it was cold and the wind was blowing pretty hard. Fortunately the cabin is heated pretty good and since it was so cold the group was small so not too crowded in the cabin. You can buy snacks, coffee, hot chocolate, pretzels, etc., and the prices were very reasonable. Hot chocolate, $2.00. This tour is run by the Riverhead Marine Rescue Organization, very commendable. But here's the problem, for me anyway. Once we get out into the bay they tell us to look for what will look like a bowling ball in the water. These are seals. Every few minutes they say "seals at 9:00, then "seals at 3:00., next seals at 12:00. Every time say say it, every one runs to the front or side of the boat trying to see seals. I saw two frolicking for about 3 seconds. All of the others just looked like a lump in the water. The tour is about 2 hrs. Oh yes, of course you always get some obnoxious people who make stupid comments and think their funny. Just for the record, your crude behavior and foul mouths were not funny, and if you want to get drunk in the afternoon around kids, go home and do that. So I know I'm the first to review this but I can only go with 2 Stars. Mostly because it's s great cause. Never wrong to rescue animals, especially from moron humans. Is only you could take this tour in warmer weather it would have been better, but unfortunately, seals are only here in colder weather. Capt Lou has other cruises which I may consider but the seal watching tour is not for me. I would suggest just send a donation and skip the tour.

A group of my friends booked tickets to go on the Sapphire Brunch Seal Watching Cruise for my birthday. Customer service was really friendly and they reserved seats for all of us to sit together at the front of the boat. The crew was very sweet and made a fuss over the birthday celebration, served cake, even threw in an extra drink ticket! The boat was very comfortable and the views were lovely. I lived on LI my whole life and had no idea you can see so many seals in Freeport! There's no joy like sippin on a mimosa and hanging out with some seal pups. I could've spent this amount of money and just gone out for dinner, but I'm so glad I did this instead! Live a little, folks. Go see a seal.

I have been on so many Captain Lou Party Boats throughout the years. I always have an amazing experience and time. There is always parking reserved for the party attendees across the street from the boats. The staff are very friendly and professional. Service is always efficient and prompt.

We went on the four hour whale and dolphin watching tour and it served up a day full of whales. Polite informative crew and the captain knew exactly where to go. Well worth it and a groupon special makes it even better. Try it out!
