The crew was very professional, friendly, and helpful, and everything was well-organized and well-managed. The food was very good and it was plentiful. The bartender was exceptional - we were all served promptly and she even came around to our tables a few times to see if we wanted refills. The ship was not crowded so we had plenty of room to mingle and enjoy ourselves. The outdoor decks are small-ish but as the boat was fairly empty that was fine. All in all it was a great day and I would recommend this as an excellent option for enjoying one of Long Island's most spectacular areas. The Captain even made sure to come downstairs from the pilot house to thank us all for coming and say goodbye. :-) The only reason I'm not giving this a 5-star review is that the boat quite frankly needs a thorough, top to bottom scrubbing - all the surfaces were dirty/sticky and the floors were grimy (yes, I know it's a marine environment and dampness is part of being on a boat... but this was more than just the "sea air!"). A few hours with a power washer (and carpet steamer) would do wonders! The paint needs refreshing too - even if just the railings, which stood out the most as old/worn looking. Bottom line, I'd recommend it and I'd go again... but I'd love to see the Lauren Kristy gleam the way she could with a detailing and a bit of fresh paint!

He was able to take 6 for a banana boat ride while 2 sat in the boat and took pictures. We had 11 people for the banana boat so he made 2 trips for us. Everyone had a great time from the youngest (5 yrs.) to grandma and grandpa. Keith was so accommodating to all the needs of our large group and everyone liked him so much. My husband and boys went fishing and caught a couple fluke. The boys were excited to catch a couple of crabs and robinfish as well. My family and I took the 4th of July Fireworks Captree Cruise to Jones Beach Fireworks Show ($65)…read moreon The Island Princess (IP). We purchased our tickets through the website: https://www.islandprincesscaptree.com. The IP is located inside New York's Captree State Park. We put "Island Princess Captree" into Google Maps and it led us straight there. Parking was $8.00 and the parking lot is a good size. The tickets indicated to please arrive at the dock by 6:00pm the latest for check-in and boarding. It was easy to locate the IP and we checked in with a staff member at the bottom of the stairs. The boat left the dock exactly at 6:30pm. About 8:00pm, we anchored and watched the sunset. Till the Grucci Fireworks Show started about 9:30pm, we were able to see fireworks in the distance in all the different towns. The boat tuned into WALK 97.5 FM which simulcasted music during the fireworks presentation. There were music by BTS, Rosé, Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA," and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA." The Grucci Fireworks Show lasted till about 10:00pm and then the boat headed back to Captree State Park. So many people fell asleep on the way back. Free coffee and other snacks were available for purchase on the boat. My family and I enjoyed the 4th of July Fireworks Captree Cruise to Jones Beach Fireworks Show on the IP. We felt that the other fireworks shows went longer than the Grucci Fireworks Show, but it was still magnificent. It was an event that I've never participated in for the 4th of July, so it was definitely very nice and weather couldn't have been even more perfect. We loved dancing on the boat, trying out the SUP board (included), basically chugging our BYOB drinks (no hard liquor allowed on board), taking pics lounging in the net, gawking at the yachts, and pretending the pool noodles were seahorses that we were riding. My friend and I boarded the Northstar III, while we booked for the Northstar II. The staff said they were installing new engines in the II. Although I didn't catch anything during my trip except a crab,, they did make multiple stops and when the waves got a little rocky, they went to another spot. 90% of the spots we went to felt very calm. The first time I was on a fishing charter boat was in South Brooklyn and that experience was horrible. But with North Star, I didn't get seasick at all during my 4 hour boat ride. Boy, I was nervous!! My friend and I were lucky enough to be situated next to a lovely couple. Chatting with them and hearing their fishing adventures definitely made the time fly by. The staff were very helpful in refilling the bait and untangling the fishing lines. I would have liked if they provided different baits besides spearing. We went during 8am to 12pm and were trying to catch fluke, there were many searobins caught, few fluke and I don't think any of them were keeper size (19 inches for 2017). I didn't like that there were people close to me smoking, and throughout the trip I just smelled cigarette smoke. There should either be a rule of not smoking or segregating smokers and non-smokers. My overall experience was possitve, and I would definitely be using North Star again.
