Claimed! I love fishing! I can't believe I had so much fun fishing around. Is that what they call? Fishing around? I love it because I caught some great fish. They're great because they came to my bait! Hubby decided to take me fishing because I never went fishing in my life before. I was super excited! The boat was quite big and they had many people on that sunny day Friday. Hubby introduced me to the Captain, not Captain Jack Sparrow but Captain Steve. He was a great captain! He led the boat to the best areas to catch lots of fish. The entire time Captain Steve steering the wheel, I didn't leave my best spot, which is the front of the boat. Awesome experience not because I'm on the boat (I've been on a boat before) but because I'm going to catch fish! My hope was high and didn't disappoint because I did catch 4 and Hubby caught 6-8, sea bass and porgies, wow! Actually we caught more but we threw them back because they were small. We're on the roll! The crew members led by Chris (I think), were super helpful especially when they found out it was my very first experience fishing out in the ocean. Their duties include helping with the bait, fixing fishing rod, teaching the technique, cleaning the fish, cleaning the boat, securing the boat, talking to me, saving people from trying to jump out of the boat (if this happens), etc. A lot of work right there! I cleaned the fish at home myself because I happen to know how to do it. The captain found some great fishing spots for us to fish. He would move the boat every few minutes if he thinks we could get better luck somewhere else. It's true because we caught the fish at a few different spots from moving around like that. Even when we sat by the front of the boat, we did quite well. Note that usually you get more fish when you sit at the back of the boat, said Hubby. He goes fishing many times, so he knows the secret. After the activity, we went upstairs to take some fresh air, so the crew could clean the entire boat. After this fishing day, I think I could contact Deadliest Catch crew. Maybe I should participate in that catch too. Hmmm, you think? Definitely would do this again. Such a great experience! Amazing scenery and beautiful sunrise! Love love love fishing! First time fishing and almost everyone caught at least one sea bass. The boat itself is ok, the fishing rods are placed very close together so make sure you are near people you know! The mates were pretty helpful in putting the bait on the hooks and they measured each catch to see if they were big enough to keep. The only negative I would say is there is no prior instruction on safety, no clue where the life preservers were located and we could barely hear the captain over the PA. And if you get seasick, as a dozen of us did, dramamine doesn't help and 5 hours on the boat is too long!! read more

I took my kids and my best friend on this fishing boat. It's a good sized fishing boat for large group. Only about 18 people on board including the captain and 2 crew members (that we noticed). The Captain decided the ocean was too choppy, so we stayed in the bay and inlet. We did more looking than we did fishing. The 2 crew members didn't seem to want to be there and didn't help anyone too much. It was ok but there are a lot of other charter fishing boats to try first. read more

Located in Point Lookout, NY. This is the only fishing boat in the marina. The fishing is for beginners and pros. They sail at 7:00am to noon and 1:00PM to 5:30Pm and 6:30PM to 10:30PM. Fishing for Sea Bass and fluke. The mates are fantastic and willing to help beginners. The captain knows the fishing spots. I have been on this boat twice and everyone is catching fish. The boat ride is good but the trill of catching fish is the best. The cost is $55 for adults. I would recommend this boat to any fishing boat in Captree. read more

I've been on numerous charter and party boat fishing trips on the island from Orient to Sheepshead bay. I walked away from this trip feeling ... "meh". The boat was large and had separate potties for both genders, which is super rare. The cabin was nice and roomy with many tables. The Captain made sure we found fish. I'm not sure I'd make a return trip, however. Maybe I just don't like fishing for porgies? Or, Perhaps I just hit this boat on an off day. I've been on boats where the mates did a better job of interacting and helping out. They were slow with the net...and it was only needed twice. I also unhooked all but one of the fish I caught by myself. To be fair, with the exception of the networthy Sea bass, we were mostly pulling up little porgies. They weren't that hard to take care of. Additionally, the staff's communication with the fishers could have been better as there were nice "fish markers" on the rail that we didn't even know about till 2 hours into the trip. Prior, I threw back all the porgies that "seemed" a little short. Another thing I didn't love is that the mate assumed we wanted to be in the boat pool and just added that in the price. No communication beforehand, so it was a bit confusing when we handed him money and he said we shorted him. Easily figured out, but just tell us "hey, "$48 for the trip, $3 pool.".. The bait was the WORST part about this trip. I'm never shy about baiting my hook, but this was gross, gooey bait that basically disintegrated in our hands. We all found it very difficult to find a solid piece that didn't pull right off. The captain found us plenty of fish, I think he actually anchors the boat each time you stop which takes a little time and anticipation. Also, the trip to the golden spot was about 45 mins there and back. Also, just a note they leave from the docks at point lookout, not Massapequa (as listed here). read more

The worst overnight trip I have taken in fifty years of charters. First there was no safety procedures and location of safety items given. We were put in a small area on hard benches for a five hr boat ride from 1-6 am it was miserable. The captain never came down to greet the fisherman or no updates on trip progress. We were given what looked like week old bait and later finally got some new bait. I was told that Cod were going to be targeted so we did catch Porgies all day and sea bass that were out of season. We also got in a pool 20 dollars each and were never informed of who won. Only during the exit of the boat we found out a 20 year local won the pool which was very sketchy. Mates gave fair service but not too good overall. Lets put it this way a terrible experience with terrible communication and will never return. (Worst ever) read more

Worst Fishing Trip. Terrible Crew. Avoid! Went on a cod trip in early April. Boarded around 3:30 am. After hours of sitting on a bench in a crowded, cabin filled with unmasked passengers, and no social distancing, we reached the fishing grounds at 8AM. From the hours of movement, and really rough sea, I became violently ill. No one's fault. But the response of the crew put me, age 71, at risk for a medical emergency. I lay on the freezing cold floor the floor, in front of the galley, in front of other passengers, for TEN hours, vomiting into a bucket and falling in and out of consciousness. Not one crew member offered assistance of any kind. Not water, not a place to lie down, not any concern. Not one. In fact, a crew member stepped on me, not once, but twice. I sustained large contusions on my legs. I lay in fish scales. I became dehydrated and began to have heart palpitations. After many hours, someone handed me a dramamine tablet, but it was too late. When we docked, I was assisted off the boat by a family member, and hardly able to stand, shaking from cold. Not a word from a crew member. I was debilitated for days. I stopped payment on my visa, but the captain, even though I emailed him and let him know what had happened, pushed for a got a reversal of $320, and never replied to me. This is a bad crew. I would discourage anyone from patronizing this bunch. read more

The Super Hawk is the best CHARTER BOAT if you like fishing. The mates are the best. The captain is skilled and will anchor in the right spot, where the fish are. I have been on other charter boats, and it was just a boat ride. This was fishing and it was awesome. Kevin - Carl - Kevin's brother and the other mates were right there to assist you - always looking out for anyone who needed help. They will come immediately when you catch a fish to assist and re-bait the line for you. The boat is extremely clean. They also clean and fix your fish so you can go home and cook it. When a friend of mine recently visited from out of town I asked her if she wanted to go on a "deep sea fishing adventure" - I was asking her to go fishing and she thought I was asking her if she wanted to pick up men, but really both objectives applied. Our group of about 25 young adults hit the sea to try our hand at fishing on the Atlantic on a half day fishing trip with Super Hawk Fishing out of Massapequa, NY - boats departing from Point Lookout. There were definitely pros on board, but the crew was great and sympathetic all the novices in our group. The boat did not have had many bells or whistles, but you are free to bring anything you'd like on board - snacks, water, libations (i.e. beer/wine, probably liqueur). Our group was stocked with a large cooler full of refreshing alcohol delights and snacks to keep us all satisfied. We departed around 1:00pm and were scheduled to arrive back near 5:30pm, but I think it was closer to 6:00pm when we docked. The trip put us each back $37 ($40 if you wanted to enter a pool for the "biggest fish of the day" competition), plus it is encouraged for you to tip the crew - and at the end if you're a novice, you'll want to tip the crew! All of the voyages are stocked with bait, rods, reels, tackle and ice - at no additional charge. Plus, the crew was super helpful and will assist with baiting hooks, taking fish off of the hooks, and even clean your catches for you when you before you depart. I try to be an independent girl, but I was NOT about to bait my hook with the raw clams and squid parts that resembled soupy fish slop, so I was thankful that the crew was there to assist! They are truly professionals, not to mention they were also very entertaining. Unfortunately, the only negative was that on the day we went the sea was very choppy and about 1/5 of our gang ended up experiencing some significant sea sickness. So, if you're prone to such issues, be sure to bring an arsenal of nausea medication. Despite the weather challenges, our we had a great time! read more

Great day charter (half or full day) out of Point Lookout. Boat is not too big, not too small. If she were mine, I'd Christen her "Goldilocks". She's just right. Pricing is very reasonable and staff is very convivial. I go there often. Only knocks, interior of boat could be in better shape, and the paltry amount of food is not worth it's weight in oyster cracker salt. Pack your own lunch/snacks. Have a good catch!!! read more

What a great experience! I've been on a number of party boats, but this was the real deal. Really great crew who were extremely helpful and friendly. Amazing day at sea, caught numerous porgy and sea bass. At this point in the season, the Captain told me the fish were further out, so heads up, the trip out to the fishing spot is 1+ hour... but well worth the trip as we couldn't stop catching. Literally, we would drop the line and have bites in seconds and reeling back up in under 30 seconds, often with two fish on the line! Even my 5 year old was catching (with the help of one of the mates). Came home with 5-10 pounds of cleaned and filleted fish! highly recommend! Will definitely do again soon! read more

My family and I went on this fishing boat this morning. I was very uncomfortable in this age of COVID. None of the restrictions were in force. It was so crowded. I fished on a different boat earlier in the season that insisted on 25%-50% capacity and definite social distancing and masks. There had to be about 70 people on the boat. Their website say they have a capacity of 120. So there was no way to really social distance. They didn't insist or even suggest masks to the people who didn't have them on. The Crew (WHO WERE VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS) weren't wearing their masks either when helping. To top it off, when we were leaving the boat, one of them said "people who have masks, please put them on. They may be checking on the dock". As I said, we were really uneasy the whole time but we did catch some fish. read more

This was my first time going DSF so I have nothing to compare it to; not sure if that is good or bad that I write a review. I did read previous reviews before adding my own. I was kind of surprised if some of the negative reviews about the crew. I do NOT have a bad thing to say about the "mates." They were all very attentive & nice. NOT one try to mooch tips out of anyone who was in ear shot of me. Maybe they had a taken to, new crew or maybe read older reviews. My only complaint was that we were packed in there like sardines (see what I did there ;) ) I was so shocked how many people they were letting on board. I thought that we had hit capacity. It was so tight but as we got out there, we started to have more arm room-so that was good. But with so many people, we all kept getting our lines tangled. 3 hours ago Very very disappointed. Awful experience last night. My husband and friends go twice a year on Super Hawk for fishing. I went on Super Hawk boat for the 1st time on July 18th 2020. We were a total of 6 ppl, we caught fish, had fun and We tipped the crew on board very well. I personally give one guy $30 bucks before leaving the boat. Went back again on July 25th, since it was fun the last time. This time I went with my entire family. Total of 16 ppl, Kids included. ($800 from my family alone, didn't not pay discount price for the kids) When we got there.. they crew told us we have to stand on a specific section on the boat, we don't get to choose where we would like to stand. Then the guy who is collecting the money onboard (we paid cash) pulled me to the side and said the last time we were there, my group didn't tip the crew well. I was so shocked and was like.. what group? We were only six last time and we did tip the crew well. I personally give one guy $30. He was like.. Oh, ok. I am only saying and he walked away. Entire trip was a mess.. The entire time .. crew members were rude, keep walking back and forth next to us, no mask, keep drinking and smoking and blowing the smoke in your face, no breathing room at all! We felt like they were harassing us and targeting us for something, since we were a big group.They were trying to rip us off. They ask us if we want them to clean our fish in a very rude way.. since we didn't had much.. we said no. They were very disappointed because they didn't get to rip us off on the cleaning of the fish. They were telling each other.. "don't help them"... we can hear you .. we are standing right there !!! Hello!! When we got back to the docks.. my husband had the money to tip them so as the others in my group. (We honestly feel like they don't deserve any tip from us), I walked out first and one of the crew member yelled to the other one.. observe, observe.. zero yet . Meaning, Zero dollars yet in tips from us. All all the members of my group walked out.. and tipped different guys from the crew.. they counted the money as soon as we hand them. Then they came to us infront of the public (didn't care about the other ppl that needs to come out of the boat) and told us , we only tip them $26, that's not going to work. First of all, that's a lie. We tipped them way more that that and second of all.. very very rude, disgusting and nasty. They said we are not allowed back on the boat because we didn't tip them well enough and walked away with an attitude. Everyone was shocked! All the years.. my husband and friends said they have never experienced something like that before.This was just a total Shame! Ohhh.. you would never see our faces again. BEWARE! Terrible experience because everyone got sick. I'm not exactly sure if there was a new captain on the particular day but it was a horrible experience. We were going too fast making the waves come into the boat, getting everyone soaked. At this point it wasn't that bad but then people began to vomit and noone batted an eye. Not one person, but 8 people were in the cabin because they were so nauseated. There was also an old lady who had a broken rod which never got replaced. Slowly everyone retreated to the cabin to lie down and rest. At the end of the trip everyone i came with had vommited multiple times and we left paying money for our suffering. tldr; Bad experience would not recommend. Best crew and captain by far .. i started back fishing this year looking for the perfect boat and crew to go fishing with .. ive been from Brooklyn to montauk and the SUPER HAWK I GIVE 10 /10 RATING . They are super friendly and family oriented..the crew helps you to catch fish if you a newbie they even bait up your lines if you don't want to .. i found them in June 2020 and I have been fishing with them every week after that bring my friends and family..when I say every week I mean at least once a week sometimes twice and 3 times a week I'm on with them ... if you looking for to take your family ( with the kids ) out for some fun on the water this is definitely the boat lots of fun and fish the captain puts you on the fish , also the boat is SUPER CLEAN ... like I said they the best .. see you on Wednesday 6.15am read more

Everyone was so friendly! Basically you are guaranteed to catch a fish when anchored. Spanky was awesome and Andrew too. They were ALWAYS there to help real up your fish or untangle any lines. The best overall party boat fishing by far! My family and I have tried all of the local fishing boats and the super hawk is definitely my favorite. Capt. Steve is always putting in the extra effort to find the fish. I noticed other party boats will try 2-3 spots and always stay local to save money on fuel but not the super hawk. They make multiple stops and go the extra mile to catch fish. The mates are fast to come over and help and are super friendly. We went out a few days ago with 13 family members and they knew our kids names within the first 2 hours. They also had exceptional patients with the kids when their lines would get tangled. Catching fish won't be a problem but getting service from a mate without them having a "what's in it for me? " is a problem. I tipped each mate anytime I needed a rig but still was asked to give 40 bucks to filet 8 fish. I ended up not getting my fish cut because it was so expensive. Upon leaving the boat a mate "Scotty" came to the parking lot to me ask for a 20% tip after I been giving them money the whole trip. On Friday 12/02/2011 i went on a wreck trip aboard this Boat. The trip was good and up until departing the Boat i had in my mind that i would return someday for another trip. On my way home i realised tht i left the top of my Grunden fishin gear on the boat so i phoned the Capt. Steve (516) 795-6355 who spoke to his mate and relayed to me that my gear woud be kept below on the boat and i should bring $20.00 with me. At this point i thought they were joking about the $20.00. On Sunday 12/04/2011 in the evening i went to collect my gear which is when the boat was back in the doc. Upon entering the boat i saw one of the mate at the right side of the boat and told him that i there to collect my gear that was left on the boat. To my surprise the mate asked if i brought the $20.00.. He gave me the gear and i gave him the $20.00. I decieded there and then that i would not go on another trip aboard this boat. NOW THIS IS THE ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR I EXPECT IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY FROM A IMPOVERISH PERSON (THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE). I manage a business and i definately don't treat any of my customers like that. Now none of my fishing friend who i have great fishing influence over will ever take a trip aboard that boat. read more

Had a great time fishing on this boat. The morning was very slow, the captain made some moves to put us on the fish. We went so far out that we landed at the dock two hours late! This was very much appreciated since it took awhile to find the fish. The boat is clean and well maintained. The crew was on top of their game, extremely attentive and polite.
