I asked Rachel nicely to stop texting/calling/emailing. She sassed me the first time telling me that "she only called once!". Well now we are at least 5 phone calls in plus multiple texts which have been stopped and emails. I wrote to the GM to ask that they stop contacting me. We had a very disappointing experience with the service department, led by Jon. We purchased a replacement key from them and scheduled an appointment to have it programmed. When our technician arrived, Jon scanned the wrong QR code, causing our technician to wait for over an hour before the mistake was discovered. After finally scanning the correct QR code and pairing the key to the vehicle, Jon stated that an error code appeared. Unfortunately, instead of offering a solution, troubleshooting the issue, or providing guidance on the next steps, he simply handed the key back to our technician and said he couldn't program it. After nearly two hours of wasted time, we left without a working key or any resolution. The lack of communication, problem-solving, and customer service was extremely frustrating. We expected much better support after purchasing the key from this dealership. Overall, it was a very poor customer service experience, and I hope management takes steps to improve how situations like this are handled in the future. read more

Let's start with the warning signs that I ignored. Last two oil changes the oil filter and sway bar were not cleaned and took about 1000 miles each time to burn off. How do we know cause my son put it on a lift and saw the mess. I also asked them to check for leak. No leak they said. Tire loses 6 lbs of pressure over 3 weeks. Now the good stuff. I went in for a coolant flush. I decided to change the top radiator hose and thermostat while we had all the coolant out. I asked to have a pressure test and girl at counter said that will be $205 I said forget it and just do the three services and asked if parts were available. She said she would call me back. I actually called parts myself (excellent service all the time) and they said they could hot shot the part if they hurry. That part would have never gotten there because she was going to wait to order. In any event 4 hours later I get a call saying my heater core was leaking. I asked how do you know. Crickets. Obviously I said no to the diagnostics and she left it on the report twice anyway. I said leave the heater core alone and just do the services I asked for. She came back with a bill of over $800 before taxes. How? I spoke to service manager and he billed me out as stand alone jobs. Imagine that. The coolant was already being flushed. All that had to be done was take hose off replace. Maybe 10 minutes if I am being generous. Then to boot, I got billed full time again for thermostat replacement. Again, 15-20 minutes if we are being kind. So if I brought my truck in on three separate days and told them to do all three jobs on separate days I would be billed the same. Another dealer could not believe what I told them who owns 5 by the way. After complaining they basically deducted the diagnostic fee I never authorized cause I never authorized anything til after 12:37PM and I got the call at 11:21AM. Then I said I have a coupon for 10% off and she said ok. She calls back and tells me its done. Give me the price and said I was already discounted can't use the coupon. Billed out over $724.00 with knocking the diagnostics fee off which then would have been over $950. I pick up truck and its covered on the front grill, and side panels, and under the hood with coolant all over the paint. I open the door and plastic cover is still on seat and paper foot pad on the floor. I have spent over $40.00 to get it all cleaned off. I would NEVER go back here for service. The lack of care started at the front desk and continued. I will say that the Parts Department has always been the best part of this place and shout out to them for always coming through for me and my needs but that is where is all stops. Do your homework on the internet and my review is not the first when headlines and then in the first paragraph when searching "Freehold Dodge Complaints" reads poor service department communication, long delays, and aggressive or untruthful sales tactics. Boy that about says it all and sums up my experience on Monday, April 13th. I paid them and walked away but I will it will cost them more than it costs me in the long run. read more

Dealing with everything from bait and switch tactics to salesmen who will lie to your face. And ofcourse the sneaky finance managers that try to force you to buy worthless extended warranties. CAUTION! This is a real review from a real customer. Stay away from this place. I purchased a DodgeRam Van 2500 with extended roof from them. The van had an electrical issue that they hid from me because I live on Long Island and they knew it would be arduous for me to bring it back to Freehold and return to pick it up if they fixed it. The battery would die if the van sat for 2 weeks. Luckily, the dealership on Long Island replaced a component of the computer module that was draining the battery. I would never again buy a vehicle from these weasels at this dealership. To make matters worse, the so called, " manager" read my Google review and responded by asking me to call him. So I did. Of all of my car buying experiences, dealing with Freehold Subaru twice has been the best by far. My son and I went in to buy him a decent used car. Sean was our salesman, he took time to get to know us and what we needed and helped us through the whole process. Brandon was the manager and he was nice to deal with. They even cut me a little discount which I very much appreciated. Another salesman, Eugene, was also hanging around and he was very decent to talk to as well. If you want to go somewhere where they treat you like family, these guys are the place to go. My first experience with them was 12 years ago and although the staff was different, the experience was the same. I went in today for a oil change and filter and a back windshield wiper, they also gave me a complementary car wash. The total came to $143. The mechanic also noted that I had a nail in my back tire and he fixed it for me, I have definitely found a new place for service for my Subaru and the next time I buy will probably be there also. Oh boy, here we go again, So they send out cards saying that they can replace your car with another, same model, same or more accessories for a few bucks cheaper then what you are paying now. Assuming you are financing. Well I can say that years ago when they did this it was true. I personally know of people that refinanced, cheaper, along with a new car. The world was good. However not now. I was told that the card indicated that it was an estimate quote, so was the older offer, and that it would be more than the card indicated. Instead of going through all the nonsense I was put through, The fix is easy, stop sending out offers to customers that you can't deliver. You are putting your sales people in awkward positions. I understand that due to Biden economics financing is crazy and you can't do what you were able to do years ago, so stop sending out offers!!! False advertising. Fed interest rates are high compared to last time so what the hike are you doing ! As crazy as it sounds, and With all that garbage behind right now I would definitely recommend this dealership for an auto purchase or service, they are really that good. Everyone makes mistakes. Take a ten year old Legacy with 150,000 miles, mix in a recall appointment and add in a service team that is unyielding in their pursuit of incremental big ticket repairs and I'm left wondering why everyone keeps saying that stand-up comedy is dead. Brought our soon to be traded warhorse in for a recall and was politely informed by the service advisor that the muffler and the rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced for a cool $2,400 plus tax. A nice round number. One question,... given the fact that we're trading it in in a few weeks and your dealership will most likely give us $2,400 for the vehicle regardless, do you mind me asking if the state's election day approval of legal weed is impairing your judgement... "... well we can only tell you what a proper repair with genuine OEM parts and expert labor costs will run you." There's no use arguing since Mr. Roboto is only going to parrot the company line. No acknowledgement of reality, common sense alternatives or the absurdity of such an investment in an almost fully depreciated asset - so we took it to our local shop and had the muffler repaired and and the bearings replaced for $700. Still high but worth it since this modest investment won't kneecap our private sale. No way that I'm trading it in to these pirates. The moral to the story is obvious and the three stars are for sheer audacity. Their ads tell us that Subaru is synonymous with LOVE. If love is synonymous with Glenn Close boiling a rabbit to scare her peccant lover, it sure is. read more

In one afternoon, I drove my vehicle there, traded it in for a newer model at a very reasonable price, and obtained a loan at the proper interest rate for my credit score. My wife and I spent months debating whether to buy a new car. We talked about the kind of car we needed, looked for cars that had positive reviews and so forth. We finally narrowed it down to Subaru. We contacted multiple Subaru dealers in New Jersey's Monmouth and Ocean counties and visited several. We had a problem though. All the dealers either expressed no interest when we walked into the showroom or stated that they did not have anything before they bid us goodbye. Except for one Subaru dealer. We went to Freehold Subaru and were greeted by Yuliya Shvartsman. Yulia was very friendly, helpful, and informative. Yulia was the standout that was interested in helping us select a car. Yuliya spent her time asking us questions and explaining features to understand what we were looking for. Yuliya got a Crosstrek, Outback and Forester for us to inspect and ask questions. We finally drove the Forester and ended up negotiating a deal with Yulia. When we picked up our car we were met by John DePalma, Freehold Subaru's Delivery Specialist. John spent a great deal of time with us reviewing the Forester's features to make sure that we were comfortable with the car. John offered to spend additional time with us if we needed to return with additional questions. An absolute disappointment. Like many car dealerships, the sales reps at Freehold Subaru try to pressure you into the sale by rushing you through important questions. I don't need many fancy features in my car, but one thing that is very important to me is hooking my phone up to bluetooth so that the car displays the song that I am playing through my phone. I didn't think to ask if this feature was included, because ya know, it's 2018. Turns out, Subaru had a glitch in this particular '18 Forrester model and the sales person neglected to tell me this. This is something that I'm sure they were well aware of. Now there is absolutely nothing that they can to do fix it. Very unfair for this to happen to a paying customer, especially with such a high priced item. This is a car... it's not like buying a sweater at the mall. I was much happier when I leased a Toyota from Freehold Toyota. The bluetooth did not have any glitches and oil changes and tire rotations were included in the lease (as they should be). Luckily I don't own my Subaru, it's just a lease. As soon as this lease is up I'll be headed straight back to Toyota. read more

I had a very specific budget and knew what I wanted to get and hoped I could afford it. After one phone conversation I can tell this is a place I would definitely NOT do business with. In a world where most things are done online, I put in my application for a car yesterday and then messaged the dealer again this morning to see when I would find out if I was approved only to be rudely told there was someone physically on the premises that takes precedent even though my application was in first. When I asked why it mattered since they have this online option on their website, I wasn't really given an answer other than "there is someone physically here". I have already driven the kind of car so I didn't need to test drive and I live far away, which is why I was going to do everything online. So even though they had everything they needed from me to move forward already, they decided to disregard that and give someone else first shot at the car. Called to schedule an appt to have my 2015 Subaru Forrester repaired. Been bringing for service for more than 5 years. First time I ever asked for a loaner since I knew the car was going to be there for some time that day. Was informed that loaners were only available for customers that purchased their vehicle at that dealership. Don't say "loaners available" if they aren't. I guess service doesn't count. DO NOT HAVE YOUR SUBARU SERVICED HERE ! - I have had leased 2016 and 2019 Foresters serviced here seven times. All were routine service at 6 months/6,000 miles. They managed to screw up four of the seven services. The first debacle, involving ripping the oil drain plug bung off the oil pan is detailed in an earlier review below. At that service, they apparently screwed up the oil level sensor, because the "LOW OIL" light kept coming on, even though oil was at the correct level. At the next service I told them about the oil light. They said they would "take a look at it". They never did, had no explanation why not, so for the remaining six months of the lease I drove staring at the low oil light. Leased a 2019 from same dealer, and incompetence continues. First oil change they grossly over-filled the oil. They charged for 6 quarts, when the Owner's Manual says 4.4 quarts for oil+filter changed. Took it back and complained. At first they insisted it really takes 6 quarts, but finally agreed to do it over. Wrote "fill with 4.4 quarts per Owner's Manual" on the service order, performed at no cost. Got home, let the car sit overnight on level surface, checked oil and once again, over-filled by more the 1-inch on the dipstick. Wrote a letter, certified mail/return receipt to Subaru headquarters, copy to Freehold Subaru. Never received the courtesy of a response from either. Will (hopefully) find a competent dealer for remainder of lease. And given the indifference of Subaru headquarters, will NEVER buy another Subaru. read more

Freehold Subaru told me I had no equity in my lease return and that I would have to put $2500 out of pocket for a new lease. Well, I went to another Subaru dealership and they told me I had $3400 in equity and would need zero out-of-pocket for a new lease, plus my monthly payment was $55 cheaper than Freehold Subaru. I highly suggest that people do their homework and check with their banks to see how much equity they have before going to a dealership. The fact that they tried to rob me of $5900 for a lease is just ridiculous. read more
