I was at Bellingham Mercedes for my sprinter which is a great place btw and found Freedom vans by accident just next door. They did a bunch of work on my van and made right a lot of stuff. Fixed the water pump and found badly done stuff that would just get me in trouble down the road. I ended up finding my van place and can't be more grateful. They really care and want the van traveler to be part of the customizing. I was allowed to stay in my van and they have indoor bays for when we needed to unload it and do some deeper work. Very knowledgeable and just what we search for in this crazy world where everyone has a system to fix things that just didn't last or was actually not very good to begin with. They were also able to advise Me best options and designs in working w my existing system to customize. Also just patient and respectful that I'm a customer and they want to do right in the world. I'll be back up in the pnw for future work all the way from New Mexico where I live. It's that good. Thanks to grace and a little bit of luck I found them. Do yourself a favor and do it right from the start. Don't do it the cheap and easy way that won't last or be safe. All this I just found out in my van adventures. Prior and proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. These guys are the ones walking this talk w experience. Let yourself be treated to a real treat. My wife and I spent 1.5 years researching our dream van and potential builders. We could not be happier with the Freedom Van's build of our van - Ironhide. The team at Freedom Vans took our vision and brought it to life, going above and beyond to incorporate some unique and very specific design features to the van. Just one example - I had a complex requirement for an onboard compartment to house electronics and universal battery chargers and Freedom Vans knocked it out of the park with an ingenious (and highly custom design). Despite being deployed with a large time difference during the majority of the build, the team at Freedom Vans did an outstanding job maintaining communications and keeping me informed. We did a lot of research on van outfitters before we selected FREEDOM VANS to convert our Sprinter 170 4x4 -- and we are so pleased with our decision! We first met Tom and Kyleigh at the 2019 Freedom Van Meet-Up event where we were able to observe some of their builds and talk to previous clients. We heard nothing but high praise for FV expertise, service and quality, which solidified our decision. We knew our build would be complex and come in $100k+ (ex cost of new Sprinter), so competence and reputation of outfitter partner was extremely important to us. In late December 2020, Tom and Kyleigh, along with their FV team, delivered us an absolutely amazing custom build with incredible features. We have ventured out on a couple of trips already and are thrilled with our new van. Bottom line: FV's exceptional craftmanship, attention to detail, knowledge and expertise offered during the process and top notch client service was above and beyond. Given the unforeseen pandemic, our van delivery was delayed a bit. Such is the case with any new build plus given the detail of our customizations and materials selected (requiring more honed precision craftsmanship), we anticipated there might be a few 'punch list' items to tweak and fine tune post delivery. Tom and Kyleigh were incredibly professional and responsive, stood by their work and quality commitment, and accommodated a follow up to remedy the outstanding punch list items. Their extended FV team was amazing from every angle - expertise, client service, quality and responsiveness. As I write today, which marks 4wks from delivery, everything is tight. Nice people but I had them do some work and since then I've had issues. For one they installed my lithium battery but didn't add an important shut off switch. Their response was that I could disconnect if I needed to I'd just have to go under the good to do it. But this switch is part of most builds and should have been installed and also there wasn't an appropriate battery monitor. It was a simple solution that should have been done right the first time. My solar was wired by them and I've had leaking problems too...wasn't sealed well. It messed up my countertops, super bummer. read more

Five stars. I had a heater installation slated with them. They called and told me that they had inadvertently put it in another van. These things happen. How businesses respond is the true test. Tom, the founder/owner came in on his day off the next day and installed the thing himself, working late on a Friday. Great guy to work with and he attended to the details with excellent craftsmanship: a little live-edge cherry to mount the controls in, totally concealed all feeders, and a beautiful piece of .25" ply (I forget what type of wood) to mount the vent in. read more

From the moment Tom answered my intial call, he was friendly, genuine, and all out stoked to facilitate making my #vanlife dream come true. Where other contractors offered only "cookie cutter options," Tom was able to transfer my dream van build concepts into a tangible design. Tom's background and experience in solar energy assured me the power system he would build would withstand the dreariness of the Pacific Northwest's moody weather (and it has 4 years and counting). Impressively, my van turned out to be more than I hoped for. Tom and Kyleigh's attention to detail and ability to transfer concepts into reality is amazing! I had an amazing experience with FreedomVans. I emailed them about working on my Astrovan. While they typically do mostly Sprinter and Transit vans, they had an open spot, and were willing to work on my dream. Kyleigh was so helpful over the phone, and email before even heading up there. She took the time to get to know me a bit on a personal level, to help make sure the van was best designed for me. When I drove up to Bellingham she got on her computer and started to work on a build, and picked out the perfect build for me. After that Tom got in touch with me, as he was building out my van, just to make sure everything was how I wanted it to be throughout the whole process. When I picked up the van, Tom explained everything to me in detail. I absolutely loved it. Also, when I dropped off my van to them Kyleigh personally drove me downtown, So I would be closer to public transportation. Tom, Kyleigh, and Johanna were all so helpful to the process. I would recommend anyone looking to have someone build out their van to go with FreedomVans. They will make your van dreams come true =) read more
