    Graduation 2024

Freedom Hall has been standing for years! Based on that, I'm impressed with what it continues to offer the Louisville community. My happiest memories stem from the Kentucky State Fair, concerts and graduations. Graduation is what brought us there this weekend. We sat inside the main hall to watch the graduates. My family chose the side section and while the seats are worn from the years they offered a lot of room. I was very thankful considering I was sitting for almost 3 hours. The bathrooms offered a lot of stalls and were clean. Freedom Hall events do require parking fees, which are $12/day. It's a one way traffic loop so be aware of where you want to go for parking because if you miss the lot, the circle is a long one to do again! The fountain is a favorite space for meet ups and pictures. We appreciated the cool mist and breeze from it yesterday. Another area offered green grass and trees for shade and more pictures. Some wings are newer than others and offer rental space for conventions and large events. It is what keeps this space funded. Louisville locals will be sentimental as this is where our UL Cardinals originally played their basketball games and where we went for high school team playoffs.

Freedom hall is a legendary arena in Louisville Kentucky smack dab in the middle of the Kentucky Fair and expo center. Originally opened in 1956 it seats 18,865 people for basketball games and 19,200 people for concerts. Was the long time home of local university and my personal favorite team the University of Louisville Cardinals. The cardinals moved over to the Yum center after the 2010 season. Freedom Hall also once hosted numerous huge concerts. Mainly country concerts but has hosted huge names in other genres such as Elvis Presley, kids, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. They have hosted wwf/e ppvs and events. Now mainly they host bellarmine knights home basketball games and odds and ends things like the circus or tractor pull shows. This was once a state of the art facility but it has not been taken care of for years. Very ran down and sorry now. However the nostalgic feeling when I walk around the 360 degree halls outside the arena is amazing. All kinds of great memories and times were had here. The exterior walls has plaques of the Kentucky athletic hall of fame which is pretty cool. They do have plenty of bathrooms and concessions set around the arena too. Overall I'm probably rating it higher due to nostalgic. It really is in rough shape right now and I hope the city or state steps up and restores it soon before we lose this historic building.

Freedom Hall is an excellent establishment that I've been to numerous times in my lifetime. I'm kind of surprised I've never made a review on it. Anyway we can go to UVA basketball games here when they played at freedom Hall I'll see him numerous amount of concerts in my life for them all and we go to the fair every year and look at the livestock in the different things for them all. This is definitely a nice place

The venue is clean with adequate seating and conference amenities except for food and web access choices. $3.50 for a bottle of water, $10 for a sandwich? Come on that is robbery! The only other choice is pizza and coffee with sweets. With KY being one of the unhealthiest states in the nation let's start serving healthy food at a reasonable price. The prices are higher than airport prices and that is not good. Also, really...$12.95 for 768bps internet? I can run faster than that! But behold you can get 1.544 Mbps for $79.99/ day. Come on that is pitiful. How will KY ever compete in a global market when a main site like the Fairgrounds is stuck in the dark ages and ripping its constituents off on pricing? Kentuckian deserve better.

Great venue for major events and conferences. We attend LTD/Amway events multiple times a year here. They can hold up to 20,000 people or so. However, the food is edible at best which is to be expected at a venue such as this.

This is my chosen family and me putting a dent in the universe... beginning with Louisville!

Even aficionados of everything about the state fair would have to concede its lack of architectural or ecological merit. But thanks to Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness, I can associate this airy little rodeo arena with happy memories of the county's first wide-scale COVID vaccination effort. I enjoyed a good dozen shifts rubbing elbows with a bunch of other do-gooders, and it was so much fun to take part in it. This review coincides with the wrap-up of this use of the space, and so it can serve as a requiem as much as a review. Next week it will serve the Kosair Circus, followed by several graduations. But may its 6-month life as a vaccination drive-thru serve as a reminder that there are times when even a creaky old arena in the center of a treeless landscape can be a lifeline and that true public spaces hold great potential for our communities when we let good organizations have that chance.

The entrance sits across the street from the main entrance area of Uofl home football stadium cardinal stadium. The entrance is actually maintained and monitored by event security. I didn't make it to the season opener against eku for the 2021 season but for the second game we played central Florida on a Friday night (and won!) so before I entered the stadium I decided to check this new experience out. Event security wands and checks you before entering. Upon entering there is a large spacious area for food trucks, beer trucks and a huge turf area full of corn hole boards. There was a stage with a live band playing and they had an outdoor bar that was packed to the gills so I didn't get a great look. They have a nice inside area that was Rsvp only. The vibe and atmosphere here was great. Plenty of fun tailgate activities. Cool food trucks for pizza or bbq and plenty of places to buy beer or harder alcohol beverages. In the very back is a patrolled bathroom that is a roll of port o pots protected behind a wooden fence for extra privacy. Everything here was well down. Very visually pleasing and cool cards decor. I think the alley is going to be immensely popular and foresee it becoming a long standing fun pre game tradition for Uofl football games. I look forward to what the future holds for the alley. This includes: * The cow costume contest! I know I wrote about this in my past review, but this seems to be an overlooked aspect of the fair. Cows and their kid handlers dress up in coordinating costumes. The creativity, the uncooperative cows and inopportune moos, the announcer just trying to keep up with it all -- it is a sight! * All of the livestock and animals you can get up and close with. These folks really take pride in their animals. Love to see it! * The great arts, crafts and other odd bits entered to win ribbons. I love it with people go big on their niche interests, and this is the Super Bowl (or at least the state version) for this. * The food! Every year something more and more adventurous and out there gets introduced. I didn't get to do as much epicurious exploring, but you know it's all there. * The rides. My kids are getting old enough to look forward to this. While this is sure to make an expensive experience even more so, I know we'll be spending more time here in years to come. There was construction around the fairgrounds this year, which made getting to where we needed to go a bit difficult, but I'm excited to see what the expo center expansion means for the fair in years to come. The state fair is its own thing, and I'm here for it.

The chicken on top of the nachos was super tender and juicy. I highly recommend their fried fish. I love the ambiance, with hand-crafted pieces from artists on the walls, ceilings and bars. The owners are very sweet and community-centric. And they are regularly hosting events and vendor markets on the lawn. But don't forget, their bar is open for regular business, too. I really love the spicy marg.
