I stopped in for the first time during the open studio weekend. I live very close by, and am routinely kept awake at nights when they host events featuring DJs late in to the night/early in to the morning. As an oft-annoyed neighbor, I figured I should at least pay them a visit and see inside the place that disrupts my sleep. That said, of course visiting the gallery and studios, I am not seeing the things that are responsible for my lost sleep...that is from events and parties hosted in the front event space! The gallery takes up probably the back 1/3 of the ground floor of the building, and the artists studios are on the second floor. During my visit, the main exhibit in the gallery was from a 3-D artist. Very colorful and eye-catching. The gallery is an open warehouse space, surprisingly harsh lighting for an exhibition venue. The art areas of the Art Sanctuary are...rough. Very much like things that are making the most of a found space. The stairs aren't the most level, and neither are the floors. But the artists and staff who were there during the open studio event were friendly and welcoming, eager to talk about their work and upcoming shows. There was a rehearsal happening in the event space that occupies the front 2/3 of the ground floor. I have yet to be able to see that portion of the Art Sanctuary or to attend an event/performance there. It all just sort of feels half-done/unfinished. Which, for an artist's space is not the most terrible thing.

Our event was indoors and offered a few table games as well (jenga, pool, connect 4). They had plenty of space for small groups to catch up, from open floor to seating areas. The only con during my visit was the strong smell associated with being at a lawn care/landscaping business. Private parking lot with plenty of spaces. The Greenhouse is located in an industrial setting, with a concrete business across the street.

We looked at a lot of nice places but we wanted to use Shack-in-the-Back for the food (another great place). I happened to come across the Greenhouse by accident on a Google search for venues. What a find. We met Marti to look at the space - downstairs is a fairly large, relaxed m, open-air space replete with lots of picnic tables, fire pits and games (putt-putt, large Jenna, Connect 4, etc). There was a covered area that sports a bar set-up and plenty of space for the catering. Two bathrooms and a space for prep work. A sound system you can Blue-tooth into and tv's to show videos. There is an upstairs area, very similar but inside. The two spaces are separate but, for a small fee, the Greenhouse will hold the upstairs in case of inclement weather - we did this. Marti was great. She help us thru the entire process, kept us informed and worked with us on getting everything ready for the party. We had a great time. Everything came together and everyone had great time. We received many compliments on the venue. And, another great thing, it's in the East End but only 20-25 minutes from anywhere. I highly recommend The Greenhouse at Zeppa for your next outing. Perfect for Birthdays, Family get together, Graduation and the like.

I have attended two different weddings here, and both were absolutely wonderful. They both had very similar feels to them, because the space has a defined aesthetic to it already, and there is only so much that can be done to change up a space that during the week also is home to other businesses and studios. But it also appears as though they are happy to work with you to provide unique and individual touches. It is an all-in-one venue. Space for the ceremony as well as the reception. A reception room big enough for a decent sized wedding party table, cake table, bar, cozy guest tables for dinner, and still space for an ample dance floor. The restrooms are clean and there are enough to handle a weddings' worth of folks through out the night with minimal lines. They have a dedicated, though small parking lot, and as long as there isn't a huge event at Copper and Kings up the road, ample street parking is available. The ceremony chairs could use some refreshing/replacing. The first wedding I attended here had many people annoyed and embarrassed that the seats of the chairs weren't holding properly and falling towards the ground...sometimes bringing their seated cargo with them. It was a slight comfort once one realized that they were not alone in this occurrence...but still embarrassing. Certainly worth checking out as a venue, if you are looking for a joint ceremony/reception space!

Yes some people are fine with spending the money... but put those charges on upfront! It was a crazy amount of add ons for an already pricey venue. They don't even provide the wedding insurance. What kind of venue isn't already insured? The lack of communication and professionalism was disheartening. My sister got married here last Friday and it was a beautiful wedding... but all the behind the scenes was a disaster. They had scheduled tours for when the bride and groom were having their "first touch" and reading prayers... so there were people talking over them and getting in the way of the PAID photographer and videographer. And they didn't listen when told to lower their voices. Extremely rude and the fact that they didn't tell anyone they were scheduling random people to come in and look while a wedding was taking place was just really unprofessional. It made the bride and groom very upset and honestly made me quite upset too. I understand it's also a shared business space but I saw no one from the other businesses get in the way more than the actual event people. And then they only have five approved caterers. Which makes sense when you under the industry... but why they chose those specific caterers made no sense because of the lack of communication with them was just awful. And one of the caterers never even got back with us after an inquiry. And the one caterer we went with had probably the worst food I've eaten. Like I've had better cafeteria food. And they wouldn't approve of any other vendors, even if they were reputable and had a full staff. Terrible communication. Ridiculous standards. Would never recommend this spot to anyone.

From the looks of this place I believe it might've been an old church at some point. There is parking off to the side of the building and entrance to the winery is in the back and the venue is in the front. I liked PB&J, Cotton Candy, melon flavored. They were all actually pretty good. I wish I knew more about the place but, I was by myself vs. being with a group. How about dinner and some Heavens Bourbon made and inspired by Bob Dylan in a church. It's a must! Now this is a small venue and off the beaten track of life. What drew me? I loved walking through the rooms and seeing all the vintage details and stained glass. The Whiskey room has quite the shock factor with floor to ceiling bottles lining the walls. No complaints to be made about the service! It felt quick and smooth! The signature cocktails we ordered were very good (not pictured)! My only disappointment was the limited menu. The menu seemed to be mostly appetizers and pizza with some additional options for entrees. We ordered the Holy Fire Dip for a starter and it was delicious! It was warm and had great flavor. The waitress did need to bring more bread, the dipping options felt sparse. My husband and I split The Burnt Offering Pizza and Sanctuary Sliders, they were both solid. We both favored the pizza but would have liked more variety. I can see why this place comes highly recommended for the experience. I would definitely come back but hope they expand the menu by then!
