I love a good parable. HTCC is huge and has a lot of different rooms with a bunch of possible uses and purposes. I think you could find a space for anything. We had our lecture in a theatre that maybe had witnessed better days. The room itself served the purpose well. The two things I didn't like about HTCC was the parking situation (if you don't have loads of parking, maybe you don't invite loads of people). The bathroom situation wasn't optimal either but I'd bet that had something to do with the age of the building more than anything else.

There was a large entryway, which helped with quickly getting the line of attendees into the venue. There were several small conference-type rooms where they set up the doughnuts, coffee, and kombucha. These rooms would be great for smaller presentations as well. Then, there was the best part of the space, the theatre. It really reminded me of The Palace, only smaller. There is a large stage and lots of seating. It was perfect for the event, and I could see it being perfect for lots of other events as well. The only possible issue with this space is parking. Luckily I didn't have any trouble at all finding a spot, but I could see where parking could become an issue if the venue were full. If you're looking for an event space I think this is a great spot! Just be sure to check out the parking situation first.

We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.

Quaint and in the heart of sweet Shelbyville! Don't know much about price range of renting the venue but it's worth checking into for any private party or quaint wedding!!! Down side to the location is finding it! But- once you do- it so neat and special!!! To the owners- you may want to paint the back door a funky bright color for parkers that park behind the venue to find the right entrance!! And painting the front door the same! We were a bit confused of where to get in... But that seems to be an easy fix!

What a wacky and eclectic place the Frazier Kentucky History Museum is. But, I guess, so is the…read morestate of Kentucky. It's got a varied history. This museum gives visitors several slices of that history, from bourbon and whiskey to racing to the Civil War and the tobacco industry. One of my favorite permanent exhibits is on the second floor. It's a room dedicated to Kentucky bourbon and whiskey called the Bourbon Bottle Hall. It's just a bunch of bottles of whiskey and bourbon on backlit white shelves, but it feels supernatural to step into the room and be surrounded by all of the different bottles. You got everything from your Elijah Craigs to your Pappy Van Winkles. What else? There were Kentucky sports mascot costumes on display, a life-sized wax statue of Colonel Sanders holding a bucket of his Kentucky Fried Chicken with its 11 herbs and spices, a little play area for children, a display of German toy soldiers, a display of costumes made by local students, and lots of other interesting things to look at. The Frazier is good for all ages, but it's mostly a "looking" museum, so there aren't too many interactive things to touch, which is why it might not hold the attention of really young kids. My tween and teenagers liked it, but they were done within about 30 minutes. It's a small museum, but I think it has a lot of cool stuff in it and definitely worth a visit.

TikTok really has opened my eyes to hidden treasures everywhere. I'm sure that I'm not the only one…read morethat feels this way. When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

If you know me, then you know I love art and free and this is exactly both!…read more I go here any chance I get to see what new art pieces are put up and when you walk in there are pieces to your right then you go the left and there's a wall projected of live footage of you but with letters falling as if it's a mirror, very entertaining and interactive then you keep going down the hall there are pieces hanging up in the conference rooms and when you get the chance to go downstairs there are multiple rooms to go walk through and even the restrooms both upstairs and downstairs have art as well! Once I went when they had Korean based art and it captured the beauty of the oriental style in a modern look and there was a story telling room where each art piece told a continuous short story which was such a neat concept! Last night when I had visited my partner and I got greeted by Darrel the security guard and he was very friendly and accommodating! Art can make you think, smile, and even laugh! I'm glad I was able to laugh at the beaded and sequin piece last night, it's eyecatching and makes you stay for a while.

Instead of complimentary breakfast, we were charged $36 for a breakfast card that only had $36 in value - so we essentially paid for our own breakfast. To make matters worse, when we ordered, a single dish cost $22, which meant the "free" breakfast card didn't even cover one meal per person. This feels like false advertising. If you're going to charge guests $36 for breakfast, don't advertise it as "on us" or complimentary. Just be honest about your pricing. I expected transparency from this hotel, and instead got a confusing billing practice that left a bad taste - and not just from the overpriced food. I would not recommend staying here if you're expecting the advertised "free breakfast." In addition the pillows are HUGE and the front desk had no other options.

White chairs were setup overlooking some rolling green fields. Lots of trees. It was peaceful and lovely. The indoor area had big sliding barn doors. Tables were setup inside for dinner after the ceremony. A tent was setup outside for music & dancing, Three restrooms were available. Parking was a little tight, but it worked out. My fiance and I changed our mind about using this location. In less than 30 days after paying almost $1800. We decided to spend more on our honeymoon than the wedding. We understand that there's a contract. And we did sign it. But to keep that amount of money only after 30 days of reconsidering! And being told that we took that date. Knowing they still have plenty of time to use that same date. As I said before. Very genuinely nice people. But we feel there's a bit of scam within the contract. And our wedding isn't until June 2025. $1800 is a lot of money to make of someone who changed their minds in less than 30 days after paying that amount of money. When the wedding was scheduled 11 months away. It was, and is a very expensive lesson. We also understand that it's business. But where's the compassion.
