It offers a number of fields beginning with the small ones for those starting out up to larger regulation size fields for those who are older, have honed their skills and become more competitive. I wrote "very clean" in all caps up above and I mean it. The facility provides about sixteen playing fields as well as concessions, restrooms and the whole bit and there wasn't any trash anywhere. The bathrooms were well kept and the fields and bleachers were spotless. There is a $5 for adults, a little less for kids, entry fee, but with how everything is taken care of, it is well worth the small price to pay. This is a fairly large complex and thankfully the grounds have a website with a great big map that is a big help. Not only does it show the field layouts, but it shows the best areas to park and enter, which on a busy day when you're running late, is nice to have. Your kids will love playing here and I have a feeling that you'll love watching them play here.

Whether it's the between-innings merriment, like kids' races or other creative games, or the sponsored placards adorning the outfield, no two minor-league ballfields are the same. Legends Field has that same unique elegance and has hosted minor league summer ball for the past two decades. Whether it was the bygones of T-Bones baseball or the current (re-)incarnation of the Kansas City Monarchs, having a summer tenant offers families and baseball lovers an evening entertainment option. Sure, this isn't 'big time' baseball, but they still play the game with bases spaced 90' apart, so maybe it's just the laundry the players are wearing that makes it different. Good seats are generally available and all of the stadium seating is seat-backs (no splintered benches). The patio & berm beyond left field allows for more of a picnic atmosphere or maybe even an expanse of grass where littles can play safely. Concessions are located on both sides of the concourse, featuring some local goodies, and if you just fancy an adult beverage, then there is even dedicated space just for that. A beer & a dog seem to make baseball even sweeter, IMO. The concourse is sprinkled with homage to some of the past Monarchs from Negro League days, such as Buck O'Neill and the lightning-fast Cool Papa Bell. Honestly, if you aren't familiar with Buck AND you live in the KC area, then life under that rock must be comfortable. These guys, like ol' Satchel Paige, were LEGENDS, and you can see why the place carries the moniker 'Legends Field'. Parking is easy and plentiful and if time allows, then the Legends shopping area offers lots of eating (and even shopping!) options. Tickets are easy to come by and affordable, making this a viable opportunity to share with family & friends. You might even have a shot at a foul ball or maybe even a moonshot that clears the fences (300' down the LF line is crazy, but so is 411' to left-center), so look sharp and stay in the action. Baseball is a summer pastime and this is great place to take part.

I'm happy to say, the field is in good shape and Loyola Park is a great place to watch a ballgame. If you're wanting an up close view, there's a small grandstand of bleachers directly behind home plate, in between the dugouts. I like sitting on the hill that begins behind home plate and flows down the line behind the first base dugout. Judging by my fellow fans, it's a pretty popular space. Feel free to bring your own fold out chair or blanket. You can see most of the field and you're also close enough to hear the infield chatter. A small concession stand is available. Bathrooms are located underneath the grand stands. The playing field is natural grass and dirt with mostly symmetrical outfield dimensions.

This is a cute little field, which is part of a great little college sports complex, at Emporia…read moreState University. It's small and it's cozy. Chair backed seats and bleacher seating are available between the dugouts. They provide good sightlines. They're also close enough so you can hear the ballplayers and umpires talk to each other. If you're wanting a different option, I really enjoyed watching locals back their pickup trucks up on a small hill behind left field, so they could watch the game from their tailgates. They also played frisbee, cornhole and tossed around a nerf football or two during the game's slower moments. I'm not sure how they got out there, but it looked like they were having a good time. A concession stand and restroom facilities are available. Both are clean and well kept. Last, but not least, the sports complex that houses the baseball field is a bit off of the beaten path, which is nice. A good-sized lot with plenty of parking spaces is a short walk from the front gates. The field has a field turf infield and a natural grass outfield.
