Great place for volleyball. The competition here is great as well. Be mindful that you are in a…read moredome so dress accordingly. It's gets really warm and humid in there during the summer. In turn the floor may get a little slick and the ball DEFINITELY sweats. People operating the facility are very kind. I will say that they should think about closing for a couple days to clean the inner dome. There is what looks like dirt on the ceiling. Most concerning is the mold you can see at the bottom of the dome, especially by the benches. But it's still a fun place to play!

The games were competitive, but not to the point where there was misconduct or anyone was getting out of hand. The players all displayed good sportsmanship and everyone had fun playing soccer and getting a good sweat. Additionally, the soccer lot is a really cool space, and I could see myself having a few drinks after playing in the evening--great beer prices!

I have never actually been inside of this building, just been to the soccer fields. The fields are…read morefor small-time soccer leagues, starting from 3 year olds and up! The teams each have a coach, and t-shirts, and practices and etc... solid, professional, kids leagues. BVAC also offers adult sports, like kickball! Some of the soccer parents I know are on the kickball league and it seems pretty fun! I'll definitely check it out sometime! But anyway, the fields are always well kept, no litter, cut grass. There are bleachers on most of the fields for parents, but a lot of people bring their own chairs. I THINK there are 5 fields. Obviously some are smaller or larger for different teams. But if you live in the Independence area and have kids, take them by some Saturday and see if they'd be interested. :)

My parents live nearby so we're used to the drive this far out south, but you might think it's just south OP, it's really much further. The easiest way to find it is to take the exit on 69 for the OP Arboretum and keep going until you see signage for the soccer park. Once there, you'll want to pay close attention to what field you're on as there are TONS. If you enter from the east the field numbers will decrease in value. Once you find your area, you park, and so far, despite being there on Saturday mornings we haven't had a big issue with parking. There seems to be enough for the folks playing on the days we're around. Once you find your field it's easy enough from there. Keep in mind this is a pretty basic, no frills place to play soccer. I THINK there are maybe some indoor restrooms, though they are nowhere near our field and I typically walk by a porta potty on the way to soccer each weekend. Luckily for me our soccer only lasts about 45 mins so it hasn't been an issue yet. Once at your field you simply watch from the sidelines and the kiddos play. The only real critiques I have is that since it's so bare bones, it's real turf so there is a higher chance of rain outs playing here due to mud, I think it would be better if there was a real restroom easily accessible, and this is just me, but it's VERY windy out there so I always feel like I'm a pioneer out in the wilderness, but that's just me. Overall, it's a pretty decent spot to play, and I can get over my qualms for an easy in and out soccer game experience once a week.

There is green space and walking trails, tennis courts and a playground, shelters and areas to explore. But there are also consistent reminders of the thoughts and legacy left to us all by the late Dr. King. The playground is a recently renovated space done in partnership with the '15 & the Mahomies' Foundation, the community-focused group backed by the Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes. Safe, new equipment with a soft surface makes for all kinds of playtime fun for the littles. Getting outside, with cooperative weather, has always been a wonderful way to spend family time and this playground offers exactly the kind of fun atmosphere in which to enjoy that time. The area is lined to the south with paved walking paths and sidewalks, plenty of space and very accessible. You are just a mile or so from the Plaza, the UMKC campus, and more. This is a green space tucked in a beautiful area with lots of historical and cultural significance. We should all be so fortunate to not only use the space but remember of the legacy of the man who inspired its name.

From the beautiful clubhouse to the well stocked pro shop, this place is first class all the way. We stopped to get a cart and the young lady was very helpful and got us going right away. Also, nice new golf carts vs. some places that have a plaque that says " Jack Nicklaus rode in this as a teenager." The course is beautiful laid out, well manicured , and plenty of old growth trees to add a degree of difficulty to the game, but challenges hone your skills. Afterward, we went back to the clubhouse where we enjoyed some food and adult beverages, enhanced by the magnificent view of the course while out on the deck. All in all, you can't go wrong with this place.
