My wife and I have been buying from Barrington Butchery since (literally) day one of business, and we've been evangelists for the best porkchops on the planet sold at BB. I call 'em "magic porkchops" because they're moisture-injected, and it matters not one bit if you get bone-in or boneless, these pork chops are without rival. Some salt, some pepper (and for me, some Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning), put 'em on the grill on low heat -- internal temp is 145º - 150º, put it on a plate, and then let it rest for a good 5 minutes. I've had tears a joy rolling down my cheeks from these pork chops. There've been times when one week's chops are better than the previous week's but they still always, always, always beat every other chop I've ever had from any other source, hands down. Don't get me wrong, I've had all sorts of other wonderful things from BB, including the seasonal Piedmontese, lovely Filet Mignon, Tomahawk, Flank, and their homemade sausage. Never a disappointment.

This butchery doesn't disappoint ... it's family owned and operated, which is an important distinction for me. It continues to offer quality meats, poultry and accompaniments; is staffed by experienced butchers, a chef, a sous chef and all-in very welcoming people. 5-Star all the way!!!

My partner and I both saw it at the same time and decided to stop and check them out. This is a lovely market (did I just say that?). It's smaller than the usual big supermarkets we're all used to, but it's really clean and set up beautifully. We walked around and checked out lots of things and bought a French meat pie and picked up a small salmon pie for my mom (she loves salmon). We warmed up the French meat pie and made some mashed potatoes and gravy and we really enjoyed this pie. It's hard to find a good meat pie that is ready made and this one tasted the most like my recipe (the spices were perfect and it didn't have potatoes in it). I can't remember what we paid for it (I want to say $10?) and we ended up getting 2 meals out of it. We'll definitely stop and buy some more next time we're in town!!

Another example is the blounts market soups, 1299... For one container yet there $8 at blounts.... That's pretty big mark-up. But again I understand it's a family small market and maybe that's what they get charged I don't know. They don't sell many organic items either. It would be such a great thing if they did and be a competitor of whole foods which thankfully is now opening nearby. Or even Tom's market in Warren which this market is very close to in regards to the type of business and the way it's set up.....but the biggest thing is the meat, I don't really get the big deal about the meats. My husband has been trying to find out exactly where their meats come from and not hearing anything about any local farms or humanely raised humanely certified nothing. They seem to come from these giant meat companies. So I don't really understand what the big deal is. He brought home a couple steaks a few weeks ago that were almost $40. And they were terrible. I don't know what they add to the meat to make it look the color it does or anything. I wish they made very clear exactly where and what farms they use to get their products... Oh well. Like I said the family is very nice. Their staff is very nice. The staff behind the deli is superb. Super nice kids working there. I just wish they had more organics and that their prices were not as high as they are. Unfortunately it's like that everywhere right now so this place is sky high at the moment.

The rotisserie chicken that they have on Saturdays is delicious, even my picky eating five year old was all about it. I also love their marinade that they have at their meat counter, it's like a piri piri/chorizo sauce. You can buy meat already marinating in it or a container of it for undere $2. You just have to ask at the meat counter. I also like to stock up on my Azores butter here. The cheese counter is a lovely sight. My aunt loves the St Jorge cheese. They cut it right off of the wheel for you. I'm obsessed with the fresh cheese that they carry from Manny's Dairy Farm. The large container generally does not last the weekend once my husband and I dig into it. Like fresh mozzarella, but better. The piece de resistance for me is their Portuguese corn bread-- broa. If you've never had it, it's a corn and rye bread (not at all like Southern cornbread). When you are headed to the checkout here they have it towards the front. I don't know if it's like this everyday, but on Saturday mornings it is literally still hot when you grab one. Super fresh and super delicious. It's the perfect compliment to that fresh cheese! Overall a solid supermarket with great items.
